Brooks has been doing pretty well with often very little go forward from our pack. Anyone who has played in the halves will know that if your forwards aren't getting over the advantage line and winning the ruck, or getting quick ptbs you basically get smashed by a team with good line speed and a desire to hurt the playmakers. This is the issue for every half no matter who they are, Ben Hunt is a good example, as was Cleary and Maloney earlier this year, DCE last season, Shaun Johnson recently - the list goes on. My point is that fans blaming Brooks for not getting us into the finals need to look at the forward pack as well!!

Rubbish.

What you are talking about is good Rugby League sense but Brooks is no Cherry Evans or Maloney. He cracks when his team needs him the most.

People can keep on liking the guy because he is non threatening and has no ego but those same people better get used to finishing 9th. No team will go well with Brooks as their number 1. He is an an out and out number 2.

The No 2 has 18 TRY assists now 3rd in the NRL...i'll take that

We could have kept the bloke who is running 1st...

Its moses isnt it *gags*

anyone got any mouthwash?

Need more than mouthwash to get that taste out of your mouth.

He sure does, but the bloke who is way out in front leading the try assists is the bloke most on the forum don’t rate.
Me I do rate this bloke, regardless of character .

Stats can be interesting. Thurston had most try assists last year but just about everyone said he played one year too long.

Cleary is Freddy and Brandy's golden child, got a free pass in to origin, and he is not even top 20 for try assists

Yeah, and always had him ahead of Brooks when at WT, but that character is severely flawed and with Luke now being only second to Pearce as a defensive halfback, he is at a similar overall level for mine after the petulant one's goalkicker status is included.

Brooks has played well the last two games. He has been instrumental in the victories without doubt.
Credit where it's due.

Some of his kicks when we are on the attack have been really penetrating.

His long kicking game still needs work.

@The_Patriot I agree with you re both your posts.

I'd be concerned for Mitchell's mental health if he came back...

@Geo maybe we can appoint a special off-field role to B. Lias to manage his mental health appropriately ... wouldn’t want Madge dropping him when he has a booboo

No chance, Madge don't drop halves, only outside backs and forwards

This is what I want for Christmas, Luke Brooks' playing at 6 and his short kicking game to return!

Can I make a wish on top? More running!

I’d like to see how his kicking game with Brooks a bit wider at 6 and give Hastings the 7. At least in the trials and at the start of season 22.

I just want him to have nothing to do but run the ball. When all he has to think about is run first he plays some good footy. If he plays 7 and is the primary kicker and playmaker then he is terrible like 2021. His best footy is when he has little responsibility but his own game

I agree.

No captaincy.
No last play worries.

Let Hastings control.
Brooks to play a simple game,
Focussing on running the ball.

Agree to all the above. Still think brooks would make a gun number 9.
