Will today be the day? half the forum celebrating like it’s 2005 and the other half in mourning.

Doesn’t matter what Luke does this is the only guaranteed outcome.

I honestly don't care. I think Brooks might be better off leaving and I don't think we will miss him post this season. At the same time we need him at least for the start of the season. We also don't know how Hastings will perform or how Douiehi will perform when he comes back.

I could live with him going if the club would show some cahunas and negotiate a favourable player in return. I think it’s best for Brooks to play with a better forward pack but why just strengthen an opponent? We can’t spend the million plus we have now. Shambles.

And it's only going to worsen with the Dophins coming into the competition.

Jock Madden. Soon to be 17th best halfback in the NRL.

It'll be great for good young halves. That news about Jayden Sullivan talking to clubs, does anyone believe he is not already spoken for and it is all for show?

It's not a good deal for us but if Brooks wants out and I can understand that then I'd let him go. They have to pay full freight. We should also try and sign at least one quality player. We have plenty of positions that need to be filled.

Has any team ever fought so hard to retain someone who has delivered so little for so long? We’re acting like he’s Munster or Cleary.

I disagree. We know he’s not Munster or Cleary. Doesn’t mean we further weaken a struggling squad until we find a better replacement for him. If douehi was fit then I’d reckon we’d let brooks go.

Tough sledding for young halves unless you find your way into one of about 6 sides. Brooks is an example of that.

We need to play the long game and be a bit realistic about things. We are not making the 8 in 2022. We need to do what all the good clubs do and try and set ourselves up for success by making the moves now that will set ourselves up for the future. If we can get rid of a bad contract then we should do it. it would be the best for us and it would be the best for Brooks.

I actually feel sorry for Brooks, if he was at literally any other club he would have had a much better career but we've done him no favours. He's a talented player but he's stale here and doesn't work with Madge. That won't ever change.

I don't see any sense letting him go without a replacement who is at least as good. And the moment, we don't have one.

Being a feeder club to top eight sides is getting old hey

Why give Newcastle a leg up? Crossland played in the halves with Madden in the Aust Schools side so why can't he step up?

exactly if Doubie was fit then let Brooks go
look at Penrith they did not release Burton to dogs and look at him they needed him throughout the year
loan Madden to Knights instead

Think Luke has poorly instructed his agent here.

Think Luke needs to remember its just a game, hopefully can work with sheens and fall in love with the game again.

If things don't work out we will let him go next year.

Knights coach similar to madge anyway I wouldn't be rushing off there

This I agree with 100% the only reason there is concern about him leaving is because we have injuries in the halves. Whatever happens good luck to all

HAHA.... There's a few in reserve grade that would eclipse him also.

We really want you to stay Luke as injures have put us in a spot … this is the thinking that has led to 10 yrs of failure . Brooks does not fit anymore get of your butts let the guy leave if he wants and do your job and find someone that does !! If he wants to stay all well and good but the injury excuse is lame in the extreme even for this club !

10 Years?
You've a short memory Snake....
We've failed for many more than that.

If Brooks goes we better get something other than cap space in return one of these would be fine Best, Barnett, Frizzell, Saifiti or Klemmer

There is no point sending Brooks to free up our cap as we can’t spend the $1mil+ we have free now.

Why strengthen another team for zero gain?

And Hastings/Madden would be the worst halves pairing in the comp by a considerable length.

His Manager is looking to replace Pearce to keep his coach at Newy in a job...
It's that simple.
Coaches make BIG money, And are in the game a lot longer than players...

Compared to how the Knights should have went this last season, They were woeful...
I'd almost have them as the Worst team in the comp (Considering the playing stocks)
The fact they even made the 8 was embarrassing... The coach won't survive if they role it out again.
Having no 7 isn't going to help that not happening at all....
There's no one that can play 7 for them coming through, And Mann is ordinary mostly in 6...
Doesn't bide well.
I have no doubt they're busting they're busting their hump to get Brooks - Weather he wants to leave Sydney or not and if we get something in return would yet to be nutted out...

We BETTER be getting something in return this time.

We always get financial compensation. No club takes advantage of this administration.

As i said in the signings thread i dont think Brooks is the answer, but with Doueihi out for half the season we would be dumb to let Brooks go without a ready made replacement (not Madden)
If im honest i think recruiting for 23 will be worse with the Dolphins having a full cap to spend i really dont know where i sit with this i dont really trust management to make the right calls.
Yes we have Hastings but he is really untested at this level with the new rules he could be a masterstroke or a miserable failure.
