Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Stats are great but the fact is if Doueihi hadn't done that dumb kick, we win the game. I know you continue to load this on Brooks but this is the reality. Cleary also targeted Doueihi on the right with the Panthers' attack.
If Brooks had of had a go we may have won.
Dont get it twisted. Penrith were bloody aweful yesterday and most teams in the comp would have beaten them.

We got over the line two more times on the left but they were disallowed. Both due to inexperience from rookies. That is the way they learn. The previous week our team scored two tries down the left with a different centre and wing combo from yesterday. Our left side attack is potent.

We're in this position because we have no backbone.
Roosters saw Flanagan wasn't going to cut it and cut him in one season.
We kept doubling down on Brooks because we lost so many good players and couldn't attract one star so we tired to manufacture one in Brooks.
He will continue to hamper us and take as much money off us as he can whilst paws and friends continue to provide excuses and pass blame.

Sheens and co. Need to wisen up and improve the team without Brooks.

We're never going to agree. I rate Brooks obviously those who make the decisions and have the footballing knowledge do as well. Hasting will be 13 because that is where he was purchased to play by Sheens. Paul Langmack and Ian Russell say hello.
Yeah well it’s no coincidence you had your pants down for the new coaching appointments as well.
You rate a bloke who hardly ever wins games of football?
Cool.

Doueihi missed the tackle on the right when we had them deep in their half at the start of the game. They were in our quarter after that. Shortly after, he put that stupid short kick through that was dangerous, dangerous to us which resulted in a try to the Panthers. Not a word about it on this forum.
That was at the start of the game. Yes he was certainly criticised for it. I think I called it a dumbarse kick and plenty of others also had a crack at him over it.
He more than made up for it by the end of the game.

I saw far more people commenting that Brooks needs to go....

Failing to feed the scrum? 😂

I get that you like him....
What I don't get... is why?

The paperwork speaks for its self.
He crumbles under pressure and has never been able to lead the team.
Outclassed and out of his depth, every game.

The "he's the best we've got" argument won't even work any more since Jacko has arrived.... yeah, he's slow but he's more of a halfback than Brooks will ever be.
I agree Demps that Brooks is not & has never been an organising halfback. Thats the point though. For whatever reason, most of the clubs coaches have tried to make him one. On top of that our forwards have not been strong for years. He has had his best games when he is played as a running 5/8. These are not excuses , but simply facts. Swap Cleary(who is vastly overrated) for Brooks. Brooks would carve up. We have all seen Cleary spectacularly fail when his forwards dont dominate.( eg multiple SOO,'s) He still did some good things in those games but failed to stand up & turn the game when needed. Brooks is no Andrew Johns but Cleary isnt either. Cleary has the advantage of an exceptional dominant forward pack that get him out of trouble when he makes a mistake & allows him to play his game. As a lot of wise members have stated here , our whole team needs to do better. But it appears one of our most loyal hardworking players who tries his guts out week in & week out is lumbered with most of the blame .
While Brooks hasnt reached his potential yet, he is an important peice of the jigsaw that is slowly but surely coming together under Sheens. While all of us are frustrated with the lack of success in the past, I believe next year our commentary on Brooks will be whole lot different.

How long has doueihi been playing in our team, and you highlighted two errors, how long has brooksy been in the team, you could write a novel detailing his errors.

Mate, even as a ‘running 5/8’ he regularly failed to record big numbers. Taking 5 or 6 runs does not make you a running 5/8.
Doueihi showed in the second half yesterday what a running 5/8 looks like. Attacking the line aggressively and scoring.

It's like 95% saying he's rinsed and want him gone.

Then there's paws, gunners and two other blokes harping on.

Delroys deluxe. 😂
Dude I’m not saying anything, Besides, tell you the club he’s rinsed. I’m sure they’ll listen.

I am pretty sure the king missed the first tackle of the match allowing them to stroll through in the first set of the game. But don’t hack in the king.
Not that I’m with you when it comes to Brooks, waiting for him to take control and do it well is like beating your head against the wall expecting it to not hurt.
Well it bloody hurts Luke!
Still none of that matters coz we won’t win a game till we win the middle.

The comments from some "disgruntled fans" shared no resemblance with what occurred yesterday during the game. A number of members on this forum have commented upon it.

With Brooks this is always the case. That kick that was a good kick and Corey Parker said it was a bad kick shows how easily people have preconceived ideas.

In stating that I still think we are better off with Hastings at 7 and Doueihi at 6. Brooks can play utility.

You still havent addressed the real issue. Swap Brooks for Cleary. I'll guarantee you the resuslts would be the same if not worse. Not the only issue at WT but alot of people looking for scapegoat but not the facts.
