I was lucky enough to watch some games from the Schools champs on DvD, both these guys looked super.

Although I hadn't seen much of Brooks I heard so many good thing about him, I was super impressed.

IMO after what I have seen I think he looks the better of the 2, and think his frame might be more suited to NRL footy.

Those that have seen a bit of both, what do you reckon??

I reckon this debate will rage for a few years, who is the better, My first vote is for Luke Brooks, but I reserve the right to change my mind!!

Either way we have a couple of gems coming through in key positions!

I dont think we have ever had better prospects in the spine then this lot coming through Tedessco, Moses, Brooks and Cherrington IMO look like future stars to me, I know a lot can happy between 18 and NRL, but it nice to have somehitng to look forward to.

I don't see the point in debating or rating these guys. They are two different types of players and are very close friends, they along with a few others from the SG Ball show great promise but who knows who will make it to the NRL. I have heard they want to bring these boys 5-6 of them through together, they are all good mates and have plenty of potential so lets see how things pan out over the next couple of years.

x2\. Can't give an answer to this question given both boys age and the future development still in front of them.

yeah… too early but both are goodens.

I also liked the Farrell kid... He is a strong kid that with the right guidence could possibly play anywhere.

I'll have a play in the crystal ball though:

Brooks - Halfback
Moses - Fullback (reminds me of Lockie with his composure)
Farrell - Centre

Altho I get your point, discussing the strengths and weaknesses of players at all levels is half the fun of being a Rugby league fan, and when I follow a guy from SG Ball to NRL, I feel like a proud father when they debut.

And altho different players, the fact they are mates and moving through at the same time will no doubt draw comparisons, and it is possible they will compete for a spot.

From what I have heard 3 of the SG Ball kids from this year not including Luke and Mitchell were signed on substantial contracts and obviously high hopes are held for them. There are a few more who have signed lower teir contracts that were good performers throughout the year. Mark Daoud who was the halfback for the majority of the year has signed with Parramatta.

It will be interesting to see which of the two Payten will choose to partner Miller in the halves once Holly Cross is either knocked out or go on to win the Schoolboy Cup. Either way they will be our halves pairing in the 20's next year, but you raise an interesting question Goose. I remember our 20's side in 09 that lost in the GF that both Fifita & Woods amoung others were both potential stars & if I had to choose at the end of that year which of the two would turn out to be a better player, that I & I dare say most people would of chosen Fifita. Boy was I wrong & aren't we lucky that we lost Fifita instead of Woods. The amount of improvement in Woods over the last year has been astounding & the fact he's only 21 just goes to show how dedicated he has been in learning & improving his game. I read an article on Moses a week or two ago that Parra didn't want to sign him & Benny Elias went & seen someone from our club (from memory Warren ??) also the article mention that seven clubs were trying to sign him but it didn't say how long he was signed with us for. I'm sure the club will be doing everything they can to not only lock both of Moses & Brooks up but the abudent amount of talent we have coming through the grades.

For mine it is too early to tell. Both however look very promosing players and I hope they are at the club for many years to come. The current Balmain SG Ball side will hopefully provide a number of good players into next years 20's lets hope a number of them go all the way to the NRL side.

Is Moses still playing fullback for Holly Cross in the schoolboys cup? Maybe the 20's in a few weeks will see:

1\. Moses
6\. Miller
7\. Brooks

I would try to get both in the side.

Your point about Fifita and Woods is a good one however I have been told by a number of people that Tim Sheens always had Woods as the far better player and only Woods hamstring injury saw Fifita debut first.

sunshine coast tiger, I wasn't able to get to the game after work on Friday. So I'm not sure what position Moses played. I too would like to see them both in the side as well but I feel Payten will only go with one of them because it might be to much of a defensive liability having them both in the starting team at this stage, considering they will be 2-3 years younger. I've noticed Milford (think that's his name) the 5/8 for Canberra who also played SG Ball this year & has now played 6-7 20's games. I watched him play on foxtel two weeks ago, while he looked dangerous in attack & had a hand in three of their try's he also let in three try's through his defense, which I think is to be expected when they are jumping from SG Ball to 20's in the same year. I hope they both get to play a few games this year just to give them a taste of what to expect next year but more importantly to give them an idea on the things that they need to work on in the off season. Does anyone know what the minimum amount of games required that they will need to play so they will be eligible to play in the semi's? If they won't be able to play the minimum amount of games, Payten might not use them unless we have a few injuries in the halves.
