Brooks did fine last night. It was evident he missed Anasta's direction where all he has to do is worry about his own game. He'll learn in time how to direct the team around the park.

What exactly does he need to work on?

long kicking game.
passing game- as a halfback it's extremely shameful that he couldnt convert a 2 on 1 to put patty over yesterday
.

You serious dude? You blame Brooks for Wright's attempted interception? Nothing wrong with pass.

You do realise we play other human beings and not robots dont you?

as a halfback, he should've been putting richards over 99/100 in those situations or dummy and go yourself.

however, as i said- he will learn from this experience and im sure potter pointed that out to him as well.

What do you really want from the guy?? His kick chase and efforts against bigger players are inspiring.

imagine what we'd be saying if he wasn't an inch away from a length of the field try from the attempted intercept and an inch away from a try assist that was well defended.

Does need to take on the line a bit more imo but for such a talented player to give this amount of effort bodes very very well for his future.

perhaps some would like Moltzen at 6?

No.

He has been a marked man for the last few weeks. Making others stand out.

I think he is going pretty good.

Quite a dumb thread I think. He's going great both in defence and attack. Look up the word shameful mate and see if you still think this applies.

defence ask Tariq Sims and Jason King what his defence is like, he hit them hard enough when they were running at him they lost the ball both times :crazy

I don't think he needs to be dropped however his kicking is down on what his reputation portrayed. I don't think there was a good kick by him in the first half. He is bouncing off tackles in defence but hits hard and has a good crack and will improve.

You know what, Brooksie does have a good habit of tacking at the level of the ball, I think he forced the Hiku knock-on in a similar fashion.

I think his kicking game is down because he tries to put them all on at the line… I bet if he got a few good long kicks away from a little deeper to give him more time even bombs, his confidence in the rest of his kicking game would pay dividends.

Though its pretty harsh criticism for his actual play vs his experience... if we have seen his worst game for the season already, then Im super impressed with the kid, I already am, but I have seen plenty of games where a half totally imploded and cost teams games, and I am yet to be able to finger him for anything of the sort.

Kicking his fine for a rookie. He has a lot less time in firsts than he did in NYC. Needs to adjust to the speed and will. He pumped a good 40-20 attempt on the weekend albeit slightly overcooked it.

His bombs have generally been very good. Yes one was off the side of the boot on the weekend but it happens to the best of them.

He will get there.

I think he is going well, this is a young team and a lot of them are learning about 1st grade. The fact that we are winning a few games is fantastic. Good times ahead I think!!

He is going pretty well, young players are always going to have some ups and downs, but the only way he will learn consistency is by getting used to playing every week.
The only reason I wouldnt play him every week is if his body is struggling, in that case, Id give him a week or so off to look after him….I would try and avoid that as well.

Jesus Christ, we win a couple of games and the expectations on Brooks have become unrealistic.

The kid is developing very well and more than handling his own. He's taken it upon himself to improve his defence and is taking on blokes twice his size.

I am wondering if anyone thinks Brooks might be worth sending down to NSW cup for a couple of weeks to work on a few things in his game? I am not having a go at the kid but he is still young and I am wondering if it would help his game at all. If it was to happen would a Anasta/Austin halves combo work?

I want to stress I am not having a go at Brooks, I just think it might help his development maybe? Thoughts?

Absolutely not. He belongs in first grade and his form does not warrant him being dropped in any event.

His defence has been far better than I'd expected for this stage of his career

Again my only disappointment is he isn't taking the line on at speed and using his footwork ,especially late in halves

But if that is my only disappointment he is doing better than OK otherwise

Brooks has forced more errors from the opposition with his defence than any other player in our squad this season. Attacks the ball hard, and often forces the opposition to fumble it.

He's doing really well in all aspects of the game, and will hopefully gradually take on more and more responsibility.
