If Brooks won Dally M this year it wld totally diminish the credibility of the award forever!
Hes barely 1st grade standard 3 weeks out of 4,and in the past month or two he been reducing that average!!

If we didnt get ripped off by the refs against Brisbane and managed two more wins we wouldn't be arguing about where we sit now
I hope the boys learn from this years results
Just because we beat the top teams doesn't mean we make the finals
We need to lift more against the lesser teams
If we did that we would be talking about this weeks game

You cant point the finger at a couple of players
Every player in our team missed tackles
dropped balls
And bombed try's
It was a collective effort from the team
It was Brooks best year
Hopefully next year he steps up again along with every other player we have

You make some very valid points CT,Im going to put my arguements forward in regard to Luke and others performances this year purely on CONSISTENCY and the lack of..when I say consisteny we have to go right back to the preseason and go from there…we lost Grub who would have been alongside Luke preparing for the execution of gameplans...Grub fails to start the season and Benji comes in,Luke has a different minder so to speak....Liddle our prospective dh gets injured and fails to play for weeks and the swapping week in week out of dh players unsettles the team organisation...Tui our fullback selection performs poorly after injury and we have to swap Corey to cover the FB spot and MWZ comes in...Packer gets injured and barely reaches his reputation for along time...still the team perform admirably, however the shuffling around and introducing debutants takes its toll, along with some very bad ref calls...

The refs calls were the most damaging taking the wind out of the teams sails, particularly the Broncs game..

Overall the lack of consistentcy in the run on team is what may have contributed to a team being just short of finals footy, they have done well considering and we should accept that they did do well with so many changes week in and week out...

Losing Reynolds was probably the best thing that happened to us
He wasn’t going to win any for us if his recent games were anything to go by,
Whether he was at 6 or 9
A good number for him is closer to 30 😛ray:

What is this comment based on? Come on, at least give him a few games before you nail him to a cross!

We all know including Josh that he is not a 9.

Bit harsh to judge him a nothing on a few games at 6.

I thought he played pretty well in the games he did play.

I agree with Russell, Grub played pretty well at 6, just didn't get many games there with Benji and injuries.

I’m not judging him just on his games with us, but also on the last couple of years., on top of his drop in form and the fact that he’s always been a loose cannon, without much of an upside .

Did anyone catch Matty Johns on NRL 360 giving a breakdown on his mentoring of Brodi Croft and his belief in how the halves are taught structures and not necessarily principles that they can apply to in game sets.
It was very interesting and reflecting on the way Brooks plays a case could certainly be made that he is playing too structured. The kid has gone from playing completely instinctively under potter to then being taught to the basic halves skills, utilising a simple game plan of 4 up for a kick. To then being taught how to manage a teams sets through Cleary. However he is still lacking in his ability to adjust a play within the play due to a defensive deficiency or a rolling ruck advantage. That is his next step in my opinion
M is encouraging that natural instinct that he started off with in grade and applying in to a structure or in this case a set of principles that the team can work towards.
I still feel he needs to evolve and could do with further mentoring.
Anyone with contacts within the club able to reach out to someone about possibly engaging Matty Johns to do some sessions with our halves?
There’s a video on the fox website of M Johns explaining it anyway if anyone is curious.

Croft might need a new mentor seeing as how he isn’t even starting in a side who have no established halfback.

Hes barely 1st grade standard 3 weeks out of 4,and in the past month or two he been reducing that average!!

That statement about foolishness is doing the same experiment over and over again and expecting a different result comes to mind - that game when Luke kicked about 5 consecutive grubbers in the same position to the same line up all getting the same failure.

But seeing that someone brought up stats for Luke lets go a bit more into it.

Luke scored the most points in a year when Farah was playing with the team - Luke's lowest was 2017 17 points when His Royal Highness was nowhere near the place so presumably he was getting balls coming out of his ears. His highest points for a season was when Robbie last played a full year in 2015 for 40 points. When Robbie was in trouble with JT for stifling the attack of the halves. Play that again Sam.

The big question is can Luke match Robbie's record for most tries in league history for his position - I hope so coz it is better for WT as well.

Luke's tackling efficiency is 73% and Robbie's is 94%. I don't think JT was a good influence in the tackling dept.

If you derail another thread with talk about Farah you can take a hike from this forum. People are sick and tired of your nonsensical spam and making most of your rugby league related posts about Farah - especially when he's not the topic of conversation.

A contract extension has to be a priority to the club. Its more essential than chasing Cleary. If we chased Cleary, missed out, and Brooks turned around qnd signed elsewhere while we weren't looking, it would be a disaster. Anyone who thinks he won't recieve offers from rival clubs come November is a fool.

No info obviously but I reckon storm will make a play for brooks.

They did last time around, Luke knocked them back.

Good post, will have to dig up that video.

Matty Johns kept saying the half needs to make his play once the forwards ‘get their foot in the door ‘ through the middle third. Meaning the half launches an edge attack after the forwards have bent the defensive line. Our problem, and the problem for Brooks. is we don’t bend the defensive line through the middle third

This is correct…. Partly because our initial contact in defense is poor and we're often on the back foot leading to fatigue....our forwards are blowing when our backs hit it up when we gain possesion.
And we missed Teddy this year sniffing round the ruck getting one on one off Brooks.... And people justify packers lack of metres.
The M Johns interview wasn't bad

Hopefully we can keep Brooks on a cheap contract. Farah signing for next year should help drive his value down
