Funny what happens when Luke runs the ball

Vs Dragons 19 runs
Vs Titans 17 runs
Vs Newcastle 12 runs

Like I said, no different ... except he actually had blokes pushing up in support.

he was running with intent v Newy ...many of the runs in the 2 games you mentioned were stumbling ,bumbling efforts

Yeah not much space to run when the forwards are getting belted and no one is pushing up when you finally get the ball after some poor service from
Dummy half.

Luke Brooks’ scored his 40th try in 158 games — taking him to 10th all-time in Wests Tigers history for try-scorers. Another try assist also takes him back to second in that column among all players in the NRL this year (behind Jarome Luai with 12).

No it’s called the entire side playing with depth and giving Luke options ... let’s be honest it was the first time this year we really looked like a team in offense and not Doueihi just doing individual stuff for once.

And we were better for it

As a Brooks supporter this is the frustrating thing His best game which is what we saw last is of a high NRL standard...the problem lies is we don’t see it consistently enough..this is the point I totally understand by those who are critical of him...

The other thing is he didn’t play a lot differently to how he had been playing the kicks were still there keeping the Knights in a corner ...

The whole team played better Luke played better..let’s see it continue every week... who knows we may even salvage a season and everyone will be happy

Great summary.

Yep, thats the big one, the nothing ball back inside stifled countless attack the last 2 seasons

Maybe they threatened to stop paying them unless they earned their crust

I’ve been watching the good sides to see what we are doing differently here. All sides try to get the ball to the middle of the park when attacking the line as it gives you two options and you can read the numbers. Other teams generally do it faster, have more bodies in motion and they’ve got someone more dynamic than ‘Mr meat and three veg’ Twal.

I cannot help thinking that the Doueihi-Mbye swap was more about Brooksy not being over called by Doueihi. The removal of Benji was meant to help him find his voice - little did they know, they got a louder one in AD.

I reckon AD might be the next to agitate for a release, the whole thing about $$$ for centre’s versus halves and his open desire to play 5/8.

Doueihi looked pretty happy scoring tries. I'm sure the club can and will match anything offered for a good junior. They let him slip one time but I'm confident we are a much improved retention and recruitment organisation.

He was interviewed today and reaffirmed his preference is to play five eight, but will play where Madge wants him to. He was promised five eight, so how long he keeps towing the line is anyone's guess

I think as long as we are winning, he won’t really mind where he plays, he’s that sort of player ... you can tell he bleeds for this club

Probably till his contract expires?

Brooks is an enigma to me.
He has greatly improved his defense over the last few years and it is now very underrated.
Every year he has a handful of games that truely make me believe he could be anything. The problem is imo that he has the same amount where he goes missing.

Like madge, i think you give him the year and evaluate him honestly at the end. I for one think a change would suit both him and us, he can definitely play i just don't think he is our answer.

He is one of the best defensive halves in the game ...no one can doubt that .....if he can just take out the vast difference between his best and worst game ...but that has been the issue for a long time

Maguire at the about the 3minute mark talks about the flak that Brooks cops.

Brooks has been average for a while (years). In the past he would have troubled walking a dog around a football field.

We have a win and he plays ok, now he is the messiah.

Brooks needs consistency, to be honest, Walker from the Roosters in a hand full of games has shown more consistency than Brooks has over the past 5 or 6 years.

Don't get too excited until he does become more consistent.
