I see Chairman Lee has come out and said Brooks has his full support. Does Brooks even need it? What business does Lee have in football operations. Surely, he’s just not trying to get his name in the media is he? Lee does not seem like the type at all.

Thanks for sharing @GNR4LIFE, just read the article.

By no means am I excusing the team's effort but on top of Lee's comments about low confidence within the playing group - which is pretty evident - him voicing the fact we're still building some cohesion puts things into perspective.
Not saying any disappointment is unjustifiable but I honestly thought we'd be 1 from 5 and still see enough signs that we can find form.
Also find it intriguing the reference about the club's resources and support for mental wellness - as this is one of my biggest concerns with overturning our lack of resolve. So it's now only a matter of all the pieces coalescing?

One of the most depressing things for me is feeling like we're forever rebuilding. I know that we are and need to consider the number of roster changes we've made in the past 12 months (in addition to organisational/staff changes) and realistically it will take time, but why can't everything go smooth and flawless for us??

He is chairman, he puts a bucket load of money, he is passionate about the club and it's a free country, you, me and everyone on here say what we like, surely he can do this to?

It's really hard isn't it @mike and I think our patience is starting to wear a little thin 😩
I'd seriously forgotten that we'd released over 10 players - until someone mentioned on the forum. So now I'm trying to be less bateful on posting about the team's adjustment process.

When has him commenting on the football side of things ever worked out? He’s made the club look like amateurs twice by going public with negotiations regarding players only for them to reject us.

I've played in teams where we've had a turn over of up to 8 or 9 lads from the previous season. Whilst the majority of us of reasonable standard or better compared to our opposition, as a team we were absolute rubbish in the first few rounds. Not knowing each others game inside out was a massive factor. You can train together all you like but it doesn't always transfer to the game day.

When I watched the first half against the Cows I saw a lot of what happened to myself and the team I was part of. Players rushing in leaving others exposed. Players making a run too early or too late negating any advantage. Players not trusting their inside/outside man or maybe trusting them too much to make the play and therefore backing off.

You look at the Panthers and how well they execute all of the above and it's largely due to the fact the majority of them have played juniors and some professional grades together. They are a team that largely performs well based off their instinct and belief that their team mates will be where they need them to be at exactly the point in time they need them to be there.

Tigers are 5 games in and with such a high turnover of personnel from last season there were always going to be cohesion issues. Throw in the run of teams they've played against with really only the Cows they were legitimately expected to beat and it's a recipe for a bad time.

Up until around late January/February here everyone was very realistic that we ARE rebuilding and that 2022 would be our tilt at top 8 with bad roster slots gone etc. With some good recruitment in Feb everyone here lifted and expected results immediately.

IMO everything is going in a good direction. I would like them to be playing better but I do think we are headed in the right direction.

If you have a better answer, please enlighten me, I am not privy to the inner dealings of the club?

I know. I recall quite a few people saying it. Guess I just didn't want certain people on here to be right?
Love that certain players are coming along in leaps and bounds though. Also looks more encouraging, for the team's future, that they happen to be our younger players.

My God

There have been rocks (BJ, JTJ) and diamonds (Stefano, Laurie). We need more diamonds and to continue cleaning out the deadwood (Packer, Mbye etc). We have to put ourselves in the position to retain guys like Simpkin and that means winning. We have cash now and even more at seasons end - the strategic recruitment needs to continue. I have little doubt the quality of our first grade squad will be much better in 2022.

We definitely lack cohesion and its understandable 5 games in with the large turnover. It's not an excuse however. It has been a tough start to the season with our draw. Will be interesting to see how our lineup has changed by round 10 and whether we have made any inroads as far as wins and at least putting decent performances together.

Sorry, I mis-read your question.
But I state again, he is our chairman and he can say what he thinks is appropriate. I don’t believe what he says, leads players to not want to come here?

Just on Packer, I see he has just had ANOTHER operation (this time on his knee) to keep him out.
Surely we could get him medically retired now...he's falling apart.

**'I want to be here': Brooks insists he can lead Tigers out of decade-long mire**
Dan Walsh

Brooks insists he remains the right man to end Wests Tigers' decade-long finals drought and rejected suggestions he will seek a fresh start elsewhere with his career at a crossroads.

Despite the devastating loss, Brooks fronted reporters after full-time to field questions around his future.

His Tigers tenure has long been under the microscope, never more so than in recent weeks amid suggestions the club is considering moving him on with two years remaining on what is understood to be a heavily back-ended contract.

At the same time plenty of punters and pundits, with Phil Gould among them, have wondered whether Brooks too would be better served by a change of scenery after bearing the brunt of scrutiny around the Tigers for the past eight seasons.

"I'm here for another few years so that's sort of out of the question for me," Brooks said, denying close confidants are urging him to consider moving on from Concord.

"I want to be here, I want to be successful at the Tigers.

Reports linking Brooks to the Cowboys under former Tigers assistant Todd Payten are understood to have prompted a meeting with club officials late last month, where the local junior was assured he was still wanted.

Brooks said that message hasn't changed in the weeks since despite the devastating Leichhardt loss and what is now a 1-5 record, with chair Lee Hagipentalis telling NRL.com during the week that the 26-year-old "has my absolute faith and confidence".

"They have spoken to me plenty of times," Brooks said.

"I guess that's good for me that they're still backing me.

"[Coach Michael Maguire] has stuck up for me. He's helped me there and its outside people's opinions, they're allowed to have those opinions.

"As long as Madge and the club are happy with me, then I'm happy."

"I can't read into it too much because I can't worry about what other people are saying.

"They've got their opinions and they're allowed to have their opinions.

"I've just got to try and not read too much of the media.

"Sometimes it's hard not to see it now days. But I'm alright, I've just got to go out and do my job for the team."
