Gould likes Mbye at 5/8 because he adds a left foot kicking game to our team.... Gould clearly hasn't watched much of Brooksy!

He did correct himself in that comment.
Funnily the poor kick that Foggerty scooped up was off Brooks right boot. Not sure what he was attempting there.

I’m obviously one of his supporters on here but those are the situations he is struggling with I’ll 100% pay that. It’s a mental thing for sure, he knows that’s his moment but he is freezing up and second guessing himself. I think he lacks confidence in those around him.

I do too.

I just think he needs to go into the line deeper. It was interesting because he was coming back across from the other side of the ruck at speed and demanded the ball so he must of seen something before he tried the grubber. From the benefit of TV you can see that Brimson was chasing hard right and there was space back behind the ruck. Maybe that’s the bit he thought he saw. Pretty sure Brimson was in the ruck at the start of that play and pushed hard to cover the space.

He butchered a similar play a few weeks ago where we had made a break and he just had a half hearted run. Another one earlier in the year where he kicked dead after over thinking it. Somebody needs to get in his head and say go with your first instinct. If flipper hands outside you drops it, that’s on him.

Reckon Madge should try the Ben Hunt experiment and put him in at hooker. Just gotta tackle, give good service, have a dart and kick now and then. Keep it simple for him.

Hasn't got the heart for it...
The guys been frauding as a 7 his whole career.
Sure way to get the worst out of him, LOL

I actually reckon Brooksy tries his heart out. He just hasn’t got it / or our expectations are that we expect him to be an elite half when he is more just an average one.

Hopefully Madden kills it this weekend and shows us what we’ve been missing out on

Safe to say.

150 games/no finals.

We need more.
This guy has been gifted a career and underperformed majority of it.

Honesty session + performance review needed.

Careful Demps.

These guys cant handle that kind of criticism.

Theyll come looking for you in other threads.

Creating second accounts and what not to have a go at you.

If you are talking about me, I only use a single account. I created a new one for reasons that had nothing to do with you.

Something happening does not mean it is the cause for something else happening, there have been plenty of good players in bad teams that have had finals droughts. I am not saying that Brooks is a good or a bad player, but we have far more serious and obvious problems in defence, running meters, line speed and winning the ruck.

The one against the Roosters?

Every opposition coach and commentator likes Brooks, even go out of their way to state he would be better elsewhere / can’t show his best at Tigers .. but they wouldn’t have a bar of him at their own clubs .. hmmm

I honestly think Brooks has all the tricks in his kit bag ..
He just can’t join all the dots together due to lacking intelligence.
My take .

Quote for truth.

It's all good brah.

I think Brooks lack of game manageability and inconsistency is very high on our list of issues. And has been for some time.

Re: [Luke Brooks](/topic/30961/luke-brooks)defend luke brooks please.its as bad as defending maaguire for moving our best player

😂😅

Question is, if we defended as a team like the storm & likely be 6-3 or even 7-2, will we be as critical about Brooks? I agree he can be better offensively but I don't think he is the main issue with us sitting we are.

Interesting comments by Gus on brooks that a lot people don’t get

https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/round-10-gus-backs-madges-controversial-changes/id1210505372?i=1000521398066

Yeah Gus said he liked the make up of the team.
Said Brooks tries his guts out and is very talented. Said he isn't whats wrong at the tigers.
Also said he's a fan of Moses and likes him in 5/8
When asked about Douehi and that he's been our best. Gould said but we haven't been winning so coach has right to change the team around.
Said we need to win as doesn't know where we go from here.
He likes our team.
And tipped us to win.

Nice comments from the guy who runs the Warriors.

I would think he has enough issues.

What does that even mean?

So because he took up a job to help the warriors he has no idea?
I guess all of his knowledge and achievements are invalid now.

I applaud him for taking on the warriors job. Not many credible people in the biz would have.

Just saying it's easy to make comment on what other clubs should do when it's not your club.

Well actually he didn't comment on "what Tigers should do", he said he had a theory what Madge might be going for with the changes he made. It was more about a possible explanation for Madge's decision rather than advice or a suggestion on what he should do.

I just listened to the podcast 5 mins ago.

Did you catch what Gus said to the Qld supporter when he told Gus to sit down.

Went back and played that bit 3 times and still couldn't catch what Gus said.

No I stopped about half-way through, I didn't have time for all 55 mins.

I think our man Luke Brooks was best player on the park tonight. It probably disappointed a few of the WT fan base but gosh, you can’t please everyone. 😂

Why would anyone be disappointed?? If he plays like that every week, I’d even become a Luke Brooks fan boy and put his poster up.

Luke had a great game. His best game since 2019. That might even be his best game ever. He managed the game very well, kicked well, ran well, set up good shape and more importantly, he was always there to make cover tackles or support a line break. If every other player had his effort we would be going very well.

Bang on there ^

Gotta be honest, I find it amusing that Brooks’ game only went up a notch, he’s been playing like that all season. The extra 10% was a reflection of the result of improved team performance. I know I keep banging on about this, but Brooks is the canary in the mine shaft, there’s so much focus on him that the other players don’t get scrutinised for their bad play.

Brooks hasn’t been losing us games this year.
If most of the team played with his effort we would be sitting in a different position on the ladder.

Its never been his effort, that has never been in question.

Its been his game management and execution. Both areas he improved on when teamed with a less dominant half last night.

it suited him to be the dominant player.

Thats good enough to get us in to the top 8 that kind of form!

Trouble is we will need a dominant 6 as well to go any further.

Can't remember the last time there was a Brooks/Mybe halves combo - which seems ridiculous when you think about it - two highest paid players leading the team around worked well for both the most maligned players. Will be interested to see how it goes next week against more challenging opposition.

Probably his best game in 18 months. Hopefully he backs it up next week and continues to improve - was good to see him running properly and not just stepping into forwards, he actually ran at holes.

Mbye was also very good. His ball playing on the edges caused knights a lot of problems

Great game from Brooks, but his biggest problem is backing it up. I'd love it for him if this is his turning point.

Enjoyed Mbye's work too. Love AD and he plays well almost anywhere other than fullback, but he just wouldn't let the ball go as often as he should when at 6. Mbye let it go wide often.
