I don't know. Good question. Maybe a 7. He ain't as good as Prince at his best. Then again we got Prince at his peak.

I think Scott Prince is overrated a bit now. He was definitely the best half we've ever had, I do recall many calls to drop him, particularly calling out that he's a 6 and not a 7, and his failure to perform without Benji in the team.

However he was a leader which IMO is his big advantage over Brooks.

I think both had their knockers. Biggest difference for me is Prince played his best when it mattered.

I don't think Brooks is shy in big moments, he has nailed a few clutch plays over the years, has kicked a number of game winning field goals, scored the match winning try against Melbourne, the issue is the WTs have not been in many meaningful matches for 10 years...

And he clocked the Gaiguy!!

Thats something i very strongly disagree with. I do not trust him when we need him most. Against a team we are beating up he is great.

I want Hastings to replace Mbye, not Brooks.

I want Hastings to replace Williams at Canberra. Keep him away from WTs.

Why?

A proven disruptive influence in the sheds.

Agree to disagree.

Also a proven positive influence on a couple of teams in the sheds in ESL, his teammates love him. The guy has grown.

We need leadership from players in the spine and he brings it.

Good. Let the ESL have him and continue to love him.

Nah, I want us to win.

He’s this assertive about it cause Hastings threatens his son Luke’s halfback spot.

Hastings is what 25 or 26 and failed to secure an NRL halfback position at two clubs. He was booted from two clubs. I know there have been a few halves who have had issues off field but remain at their clubs no doubt because of their playing ability. Pretty well sums him up.

Brooks' performances are there for all to view.

He is 25. He started with the Roosters at age 18, and there he was stuck behind a halves combo of Pearce and Maloney, and then at Manly he had DCE and Foran in the halves.

We can't let that get in the way of a good Hastings bashing can we

Also greatly helped by a far better side . Also helped by the opposition having to target Benji and a quality fullback, no doubt all sides target Brooks, as there are few others that concern them.

Even with those blokes in front of him, at their best, he still managed over 30 first grade games as a kid.

And then went to probably England's worst club, absolute cellar dwellers since about the 1930s, and took them straight to a grand final.

That's a shame - he's the sort of guy that would completely change the club.

He is definitely going to a Queensland club after Melbourne. Believe his family is already preparing for it.

This year I'd say an 8.

On the other hand, if Prince was a 10 in 2005, what would Prince have been with Tui Lolohea or Corey Thompson at fullback instead of Brett Hodgson, and Moses Mbye next to him in the halves instead of a young Benji?

So you think Brooks hasn’t lived up to his full potential? Which players have?
There have been a few I guess, but they are the ones who have moved to other clubs.

Don’t know how to consider Prince a 10.

Tried to think, I’m sure I missed a few here:

Johns would be the closest thing I have seen to a 10.
Thurston, Cronk, Stuart, Langer 9
Brandy, Sterlo, 8
Toovey, Stacey Jones, Wiz 7
Maybe Prince sits at this level at his absolute peak .

Brooks isn’t anywhere near as good as those guys so I guess he must sit quite a few rungs down from there.

As far as Wests tigers halfbacks go, I’d put him below Robert Lui but above John Morris.

He's better in every way than Robert Lui. But ,in the second half of 2005 ,Prince was magnificent and a close 9 out of 10. Brooks with a Force 10 Hurricane behind him and going down a very steep hill is a 6.5.

I knew there would be someone incapable of playing the game. The suggestion was never that prince was a 10. It was if you scored prince a ten then rate Brooks.

Brooks was a great player but no one has said he was a 10.

Brooks was a great player but no one has said he was a 10.

Prince had a career that was punctuated by injuries, in between injuries he had a couple of golden runs of form.

Brooks has had a good run with injuries, but has been punctuated by a lack of confidence not helped by playing behind pretty lowly forwards for most of his career.

All in all I’d put them on par in terms of skill set, I’d give Prince the nod for his superior game management.

Prince in the back half of 2005 was sublime. He never put a foot wrong. Sure he had a good team around him, but he lifted them and orchestrated the entire thing perfectly.
