Here’s the thing with the Brooks debate . Anybody defending him has used stats , football knowledge , dissection of plays . Even offered tactical reasoning to explain why certain things have or haven’t happened in the game . And most , including me , have said that if a better solution presents itself , we should look to move him on for his sake as much as the tigers .

The brooks haters have “we haven’t made the finals in 10 years” . Neglecting the fact that for 6 of those years not the last 4 , I’ll give you that , but the first 6 , the team was built around other players . And in actuality , this is the first year , maybe last year at a pinch , that the team was actually built around brooks . So we have educated reasoning , backed up by evidence , on one side , and straight quackery and emotional hyperbole on the other .
This tone reminding anyone of any other debates going on at the moment . …

This is the first year. Last year Brooks was sent back to the bench as Madge wrestled with who between him and Marshall was the way forward.
This year Madge has backed Brooks to the hilt.
Empowered him with more leadership responsibility, tasked with guiding the team.
I guess he is (Madge) living and dying by his own sword.

Brooks played 4/5 really good games this year and had confidence in what he was doing.....
the common denominator was ....Mbye...he is a seasoned halves player and Luke played much better with him along side oh him....
Take Mbye away and put AD back there who is still a rookie 5/8 and Lukes confidence is shot again...

no coincidence because,Mbye gave the ball some air and threw it around....AD has been known to be a ball hog and demands the ball...
I still like AD but he has a lot to learn yet although he is a talent....
I know most will downvote me because they hate Mbye,but he is going and Im not defending him...he has footy smarts,its just he is heading toward the end of his career

You need depth in a squad and none of those players imo are better than Brooks anyway. Brooks has actually tidied up a lot in his game. His short passing game is better, his running game is effective and threatening and I think both his long kicking and short kicking are better. The team has been bumbling around all season, Brooks hasn't managed to fix that but I don't think those players would do any better.

No downvotes. But I disagree the Mbye difference affected Brooks confidence. To me we look more unstructured with Doeuihi at 5/8 and it affects Brooks options. Even more so now without the speed that Laurie would provide sweeping around the back. MBye is better suited playing in tight than being the link player.

Mate other clubs move their halfback on even after they have had success. Ash Tsylor was the million dollar man , everyone wanted him. Two years later and no one will touch him for $250k. Croft the next big thing. 3 years later, 2 clubs later he is going to England. Flanagan is another one. Roosters cut him, bulldogs after half a dozen games realise he hasn’t got it. The list goes on. How many games will it take to realise he isn’t going to get us there? Why are we the only club who keeps persisting with a halfback who hasn’t achieved anything and give him a pay rise everytime.

I'd actually rather have a forward wearing 7 instead of Brooks.
No proper halfback at all.

I mean, the Brooks defenders here only point to his defense anyway as his saving grace.

And if a forward was there we wouldn't rely on him to steer the team around.
And we wouldn't rely on him for last tackle options.
And when the going got tough we wouldn't expect him to put an offensive play together.
And he wouldn't put in crap kicks all day. (And anyway, even if he did the kicking, he could hardly be any worse.)

He could just be a tackling machine with almost no offensive ability for all that matters. He wouldn't be the halfback but at least he'd perform his function without duping the team into believing they have an actual halfback who can do the above.

Mate anyone is an alternative , literally anyone. You cannot have your halfback have absolutely zero traits of what it takes to be a halfback. It’s like saying a forward should be kept in the team because he can catch a bomb. He gives us zero game management , he gives us zero field position. He has no voice. Enough is enough.

No proper halfback at all.

I mean, the Brooks defenders here only point to his defense anyway as his saving grace.

And if a forward was there we wouldn't rely on him to steer the team around.
And we wouldn't rely on him for last tackle options.
And when the going got tough we wouldn't expect him to put an offensive play together.
And he wouldn't put in crap kicks all day. (And anyway, even if he did the kicking, he could hardly be any worse.)

He could just be a tackling machine with almost no offensive ability for all that matters. He wouldn't be the halfback but at least he'd perform his function without duping the team into believing they have an actual halfback who can do the above.

Get rid of Brooks, let AD control the team and replace Brooks with a workhorse or a battering ram. Let’s face it when you’ve hit rock bottom, the only way is up!
