Luke Lewis

My guess is, if we're prepared to make a serious play for Lewis (which seemingly we are) more cleaning-out will be done. After all Cashmere, Bell, Humble, Miller, Moors and Tuqiri (possibly more?) are off contract at the season's end and don't appear to have renewals on the horizon. Of whom I've just named, I know, none are second rowers, so perhaps an early release may be given to either Heighington or Fulton or both? Either way the offer will be one of the, if not the best in the NRL.

Haven't you heard of torture ??

Just think of the good you will be doing for the Forum

Take one for the team , what's the worse thing that can happen

Make some special friends behind bars 😱pen_mouth:

I dont think they know, they'd tell me I reckon, they wouldnt bother to keep it that secret.

He prob has not made his mind up yet

I think all those players are excess stock Citizen. I just hope we dont get rid of Fulton. He is a defensive machine out there for us and i think we will miss him dearly if we let him go.

Next year id love to see -

Woods
Farah
Galloway
Lewis
Blair
Fulton/Anasta

Marshall
Sirro

Utai
Lawrence
Ayshford
Ryan
Teddy

and a bench with Pettybourne, BMM, Fulton/Anasta, Moltzen

Mouth Watering stuff

World class pack and if Anasta plays in the forwards in place of Fulton its a fairly decent sized one too!

Flick Utai (as good as his been) for either of the 2 NYC wingers, those that have not seen them yet get excited, they are both outstanding.

Completely agree with everything you've said 2000\. Although, I'm actually a fan of J.Moors and have been scratching my head as to why he cannot crack first-grade when the likes of Heighington and Cashmere are always picked. I'm resigned to the fact he will go elsewhere next year so more money's vacated in the cap.

Where I think Lewis is a great player Iam having my doubts if it would be money well spent. History tells me that the majority of players who leave a club after a very long stint at one club seldom keep their form going at their new club. Players like Wally Lewis,Fatty Vautin, Bob Fulton a few players who come to mind. I know their are a few exceptions to the rule but I just think we have the experience factor we need now the raw power and athleticism factor along with a REAL half who is allowed to play a normal no7 role

I think the Sharks are specials so probably will not be a problem!!

Its a problem I would like us to have supercoach. Lewis hasn't set the world on fire this year and maybe the change is what he needs to get his mojo back. He was able to perform at that level in Origin and hopefully he could for us too. But there are plenty of examples to reinforce your opinion. I often think significantly increasing a players salary (Blair and Sandow for example), doesnt necessarily assist them in developing as players - they just work at the same level for the same amount for more money.

I don't think Lewis would fall into this category though.

If signed lewis woud be coming to a team that is in the top half of the comp , he would also know who we have signed for next season , he could then think wow not far from home , competative , good club group with no outside crap going on , this will do me , then adding that he is a very good player who played well at state level , he could just be perfect for us

SMH today quoted his manager as saying his advice to Luke is pick your club, then worry about the money. Actually good advice so hopefully we're top of his wish list!

He also talked about a decision within 2 weeks so the suspense continues!! If we're the winning ticket holder, I doubt there'd be an announcement this week anyway, given we play the panthers. Only a low club like the dragons announces signings like that …

Still no proper halfback. Surely you cannot be satisfied with the way Benji is playing.

No halfback, no comp.

Ben Ross, Wade Grahame and flash Gordon it will be home away from home for him not to mention his blues mates in Gallan and Carney

I'm sure mr 10 per cent would want Luke to get as much money as he can. I wouldn't believe anything that comes out of an agents mouth

For what its worth Matty Johns said on triple m this morning that "he had mail" and Luke Lewis will be a tiger next season.

take that as a grain of salt. Johns is a joke that lives off rumors to feed his ego

We can fit Luke in without offloading anyone. But hopefully they have their sights on a young gun half somewhere . Don't think we can do anything big for 2013 but I think 2014 we will finally have a big name half.
I think we lose a few fringe players from now till then. Lote, moors, miller, utai, humble, cashmere, reddy, Politoni, simona, and if they let heighno go that's 1.7 mill cap space

Then they will need a centre/winger = 300k, a prop = 500k and that leaves 900k for a halfback. Cmon JT get on board brother.

Damn I should be on the WT board, I could run this club from my iPhone.

Lollll

Matty Johns says there are two clubs in the running to snare Luke Lewis who becomes a free agent at the end of the season having been released from Penrith.

"From what we understand it comes down to Cronulla…and the West Tigers," Matty told Triple M Sydney.

Matty added Cronulla Sharks appear to be the "front runners" despite coach Shane Flanagan refusing to be drawn into the debate around the player earlier in the week.

"They've got a situation where they're going to move Jeremy Smith...will go back to the Dragons," Matty said of the Sharks.

However Matty believes whatever happens Luke Lewis is "a good position."

"They've [West Tigers] got their financial position basically in check and ready to make him an offer right now."

"Gareth Ellis is leaving the club at the end of the year. They're eager to fill that hole so they're pretty desperate for him," Matty said of the rumours.
