Good article. The way I see it, if we had a Luke Keary at no6 we would now be close to the top of the comp. We have nobody who can take control and no one who can get the job done. Forwards have been great, aggressive and mobile. Back three have been solid and safe. No9 has been a revelation. We need a class six to let Brooks do what does best, run and tackle

Absolutely - where do we get this class 6 from?

There are not many around off contract and very few on contract that would leave where they are imo.

We all know what we need but.....Who do you suggest SC?

Do you sacrifice this year and throw Madden in at 7 and play Brooks at 6. You get a goal kicker, a organising style 7 but you probably have a passenger in defence given his age, size and experience. Or do you start sniffing around a couple of kids being held up in good systems like the guy from Penrith or the guy from Manly. Or do you go for a short term fix and try and squeeze a year or two out of a player like Foran or Blake Green.
I would be leaning towards Madden, but can’t see Madge doing that. One thing for certain the Brooks Reynolds combo is not working..just like the Benji Brooks combo

I would still look at Clifford at the Cows as once Morgan comes back - there will only be 2 spots (either Clifford or Drinkwater drops out).

Still also like Lewis at the Dogs - I know a lot don't, great defender, reasonable kicking game and a reasonably good passing game.

I think whoever we get of that type we need to have a good tudor on board to school them i.e. Johns, Freddie type to get them going.

Not a fan of Luke Lewis - especially as a last tackle kicker. When a player puts a little pressure on him his kick are horrendous. He does enough good things to hide the bad aspects though

Clifford looks good - couple of youngsters at the knights as well. Tex Hoy and Phoenix Crossland. Pearce and Ponga aren't going anywhere so that only leaves one spot between them. Jock Madden is already on the books, so Brooks could be the 5/8 solution

Brooks is not a 5/8 have you seen his passing game it’s that of a fist receiver...not sure why people think because he’s fast he will be a good 6...out and out 7...running 7 yes but not a second receiver

The game has changed mate. These days the 6 doesn’t often receive the ball from the 7. They each have their own side. It’s virtually a game with 2 half backs. I think Luke Brooks and Blake Green could provide better field position while also icing some opportunities. But, and it is a big but, they have the same agent?

We're not going to get Blake Green. We have Marshall and Reynolds. I'd prefer we go after a winger or second rower this year if we're in the market.

Agree Boges, we’re short in those two positions. Talau is doing a fine job on the flank but he will do a better job at centre or 5/8. We desperately need a speedster out wide, a second rower and a prop who wants to stamp his authority. Our forwards did a fine job on Penrith, but they didn’t send them back into their hole. imo.

Agree. I think we need forwards and angry ones at that....real enforcer types.

A great article. I know it's a dream at this stage, but I would love the story to be:
1. The Tigers knocking out the Panthers in an elimination final
2. Smashing the Roosters in the Preliminary final
3. Smashing the Eels in the grand final - the Eels still not having won a premiership since 86
Tigers supporters have every right to be filthy on these three clubs.

How do you think Pangai Junior would look in a WT jersey?

Not going to happen he would want far to many dollars to come to Sydney unless Uncle Nick was giving him golf lessons

So I take it your ok with Pangai Junior as long as the price is right? Me too. I think if WT aspire to be known as the “family team” then we need to be more forgiving of players’ indiscretions.

Good, but I am not sure we'd be able to command the dollars he'd be asking for. We still have too much of the cap tied up in the likes of Reynolds, Packer & Mbye. We have the following guys off contract this year:

Alex Seyfarth
Benji Marshall
Chris Lawrence
Chris McQueen
Dylan Smith
Elijah Taylor
Matt Eisenhuth
Oliver Clark
Paul Momirovski
Robert Jennings
Sam McIntyre

Pretty sure Momo has resigned even though I don't think it's been made official.

There aren't huge money names there except for maybe McQueen and ET who were rumoured to be on good coin. Judging on Madge's team selections, Clark will probably be kept, we'd probably hang on to the Huth and based on what we have seen of Sammy Mac I imagine Madge will want him. Maybe Seyfarth as well but we I find him to be a Clark with less stamina.

I don't think Benji would be on a fortune, Rowdy wouldn't be on much, Jennings I don't imagine would be on much (whatever he is on is still too much though.)

It doesn't look like a great deal of coin available there.

No matter what jumper he is wearing, he is still a pea brain.

Think we can do better.

So your saying pay Brooks 3-4 years worth of salary to play cc.

OR

Flog him off (even though he won't want to go), and if he did pay probably half his salary to play for someone else.

NB: I'm happy to leave him where he is.

You may well be right, but Benji will not be re signed and there is a real chance Grub will be off to super league and Brooks is under contract for another three years. Also Grub and Benji have been organising style halves. So I would like to see how Brooks goes with a organiser beside him.
Anyway it’s not working at present so I am open to any solution

I don't think Brooks is there issue, i can point to many other positions we are weak in. I'd love to see Brooks in a team where they are all strong. Really I wouldn't think about the effort of trying to bring in some crazy halfback while all the weaknesses are there!

Mate I think there is a big chance. If he stays he only has one year left on his contract with probably little chance of getting another gig in the NRL. On the other hand he could probably land a three year deal on good coin in the ESL with our mob topping up his first year deal.
Of course this is just my slant on things, Grub might be backing himself to land another deal in the NRL
