Madge’s Ability to Attract Stars

We aren't really traveling well are we. Madge and or the club haven't been able to close the deal on a couple of top line players in the past two years. Losing McIntyre doesn't sound good as well.

I don't know if anyone is to blame though. I think the club is also making some good signings. I think LL, AD and potentially Blore are good signings. I can understand signing JL as well. It's a risk that hasn't as yet paid off but he could have a good season next year.

Missing the big names suck, as does losing McIntyre but the rest of the recruitment/retention under Madge and Hartigan has been good. Not great but good, just needs to go to the next level and that has to be in 2022 if not earlier

The media DEFINITELY makes Madge out to be tougher than he is, a few players who don’t get their way (which is bludging and not being held accountable) add to that by causing drama too.

@TYGA Coaches impact is very overrated with the exception of Bellamy, Bennett and few others.

Disagree with this comment 100%. If you've ever played sport at a reasonable level you'd know the difference a good coach makes.

They are rare was what I was saying. A good club can win if the setup is right. Cleary couldn’t make it happen at the Tigers albeit for a year, Madge couldn’t make it happen. He has won a premiership and Cleary got the Panthers to the final. Better club, better structures = better results. I don’t think the coach is the issue the common thread is the club. How many coaches do we change.

It's the influence of Matterson who started it and probably a little late back up from Benji.

Get Bennett. 2 year deal with an offer to take up a coaching director role after the 2.

Never happen. I’d love to get Sheens back in a senior role though

What coach has ever attracted "stars" to this club. We have never attracted stars (until they are washed up). Any we have managed to have on our roster we developed. The big difference is we use to be able to retain them. I have my view on why that happened but it is evident to me it's a bigger problem than trying to lay blame at individuals whether that be Pascoe/Maguire. What we need is people who are prepared to do the hard yards to change the perception of our club and there is no way a Bellamy or Bennett are going to take that

In my view Madge will soon walk away from this basket case, he must be thinking very carefully about that extension

After seeing that photo of Pascoe and team negotiating with the jet, I just dont understand why he never seems to get his man. He such a impressive looking chap. looks really professional.

Yeah, footballers care about his hair lol.

Our club hasn't played finals footy in 9 years, has a bad wrap for treating players and players would come here if the CEO had a shave and a haircut.

Well if you look like you empty clothing bins at Vinnies all you’ll attract is crap like Tamou, Roberts and Mansour...

You’re a CEO, you’re paid quite well. Seriously, it’s not hard to shave and have a haircut. The fact we even went to that meeting is an embarrassment.

Pascoe embody what the club does and how we are perceived. Dress like halloween and ghouls will chase you. Look professional be successful. The guy looks like he should be hanging out with lebowski

This is the issue imo, the club has been underachieving for the past 9 seasons, players balk at coming here.

I do think we need to pay overs for a couple of players to get that thinking out of there heads.

The club is doing well in everything else from what I hear and see, so start making the top 8 and most of the crap stuff goes away.

Do not pay overs. Never compromise. Compromising is that fatal mistake that we seem to like to repeat.

The best example of a player following his coach is Gould/Fittler and others more recently would be Desi/Foran and Bennett/his son
I'm sure there's more

I’m sorry . He looks like an “unmade bed”.
There’s been a fair bit a chatter how our front office let slip Sam McIntyre to the Titans, attributing his loss to management’s “sloppiness”.
There is a correlation between ones own presentation and attention to detail.

My wife has always said how good looking he is. Showed her that photo with the Jet, without any prompting, and she was flabbergasted. She felt he looked like a drunk.

I understand and agree somewhat with your response, but if nothing changes then nothing changes, imo we just need one maybe two to come, hopefully we get that success we all crave, then players will want to come here.

While the roosters, rabbits, dogs etc are willing to pay above value, then we are destined to stay a bottom 8 club.

I think it all started with the merger which has bubbled under the surface with resentment and in fighting for power which hasn't gone away.
Now it's a coach .....well I think you know my opinion on him
We need a strong administrator, not a lawyer, who understands the game and a clear vision from the front office so someone who could sell ice to the Eskimos.
I was impressed with the guy at the Sharks who came from Soccer, Lyall Gorman
