“Look at the Dragons with what happened to them last Saturday, the Bulldogs with what happened the week before, David Nofoaluma coming to training hungover - it doesn’t happen to Penrith, the Roosters and the Storm – the good clubs,” he said.

This quote in the article is demonstrably rubbish - there've been countless incidents at all three of those clubs - fights, sex videos, drug use..

Have you misquoted me? I dont remember saying that?

Sorry no you didn't say it, it was an article you responded to and I just replied via your comment. Didn't mean to make it look like you said it. It was from the Chammas article.

The media have a vested interest in causing conflict at our club. They sell papers and get clicks from it. That's on management to get down the throat of these journo's and spin the right narrative like they did with releasing the info on Nofo after he had a go at a fan on s.m. They need to come out and support Madge and p#ss some of these players off. Madge had success in England abd won a premiership with Souths for the first time in a long time. He is the right guy for the job. He has had us playing, in patches, the best football we have played for a long time this year; imo

The thing is, Madge looks to be the only one who's fired up and want's to win.

Look who decided to drop in. I see you have still failed to respond to any of the concerns raised by the mods.

Look below..

At what exactly? The BS caveat at the bottom of the page?

Yes

When Karl says "we" he means himself. He makes money off this forum and has done for years.

Should we leave the room for this?

were done for systematic salary cap cheating, which tells you after his first several seasons, they conspired to set up and retain an illegal level of players

A brilliant analysis. BTW - How on Earth did Bellamy keep his job after the cap rorting? I mean do you think he just assumed that with Smith Slater Cronk Inglis etc he was blessed that they would play for peanuts?

All the other guys took the fall, said the coach didn't know.

Chammas whiney voice..

Players Starting To Turn On Michael Maguire After Post-Match
FOX LEAGUE

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire is facing an uphill battle to keep his job at the club.

Brent Read and Michael Chammas revealed on the Triple M Saturday Scrum, players at the club are unhappy with comments Maguire made post-match following the side's loss to the Rabbitohs.

Parasitic media gunning for Maguire the same way they did Seibold. I don’t know what Madge has done to them to deserve this crap, but they won’t give up until he is gone. Cretins love destroying people’s lives and careers, perhaps someone should de-register the Daily Tripe Newspaper once and for all so they can all lose their jobs as well.

Journos smell blood, that's why. John Morris is gone, Mary McGregor is gone, Paul Green is gone, Seibold is gone. Madge is next in the washing-machine of low-placed clubs.

It cant' / won't be Walters, Nathan Brown, Payten, O'Brien, Holbrook, Hook... they all just started.

madge signed or resigned most of these blokes if he can't cut through to them then he has to go

That's not a measurement to be taken in absence of any other thoughts.

Sometimes you don't have the choice of signings - e.g. you sign a bloke because there's nobody better, or he's having an upswing. I don't think anyone would have criticised the club for re-signing Nofo in 2020, but 2021 has been very ordinary. That being said, he may just well have a good 2022, such is the inconsistent nature of a footballer.

It very much depends where your money is tied up and what is available on the market at the time. Madge has only been at Tigers 2.5 years, which means he has had just two recruitment windows since he started.

Like most, I hate the notion of sooky players and would love nothing more than to give them a flogging.

Reality is, we're dealing with a different generation of players. Madge has been let down by his approach and by those he has put around him (I've asked an numerous occasions and am repeatedly told his staff are his appointments).

With that in mind, the results are his and ultimately I think it's time a change is made.

The playing group have regressed - no two ways about it. So while we can all say, get rid of them and replace them with those willing to play for this coach - we know that's easier said than done.

For me, the fact that the team has regressed is reason enough for a change. Structures have not improved and effort is not there. Effort is entwined with belief and the players simply don't appear to believe in what they have to follow (Game plan or Structures).

More so, what are the odds the club targets someone like a ciraldo ? Geyers comments that the players at Penrith love him should echo for us considering we also have a younger team that Madge clearly just doesn’t get anymore

I have no info mate. My hunch is with Tim Sheen's being back on board (Whenever that is), the option to go down a younger (Gen Y/Millennial) coach becomes more of a possibility.

The 5 best-credentialed coaches in the comp 2021 are Bellamy (61), Bennett (71), Robinson (44), Brad Arthur (47), Hasler (60). Madge is 47. I don't see any Gen Y coaches for some distance.

Can I say I listened to that radio segment .. really hate how media talk about culture and look at top performing Clubs before i get to that point ..performance only has to do with quality of player and the coach that’s it.

Let’s look at the panthers .. such a top club ..
- video tape saga
- tic tic during pandemic
- player on rec drugs for grand final last year
Terrific culture

Roosters - 2 off field incidents by the inflictor this year

Storm - Munster known for being a “larrikin “ , didn’t Welch break covid protocols last year ? Nelson in Bali

Spare me the culture crap that is thrown about .
You either have the cattle if you don’t you need a coach that can coach , teach and bring the best out of the plodders you have in the squad

Yeah Mark Geyer, who is know to be a moron, talking about how the top sides don't have off-field issues like Nofo turning up to training drunk. That guy should know better, with his own off-field issues, the death of his young mate and the crap his daughter had to go through.

We havnt regressed we are just lacking in quality. This has all manifested after we played three of the best teams in the competition. Two weeks ago the Roosters were also smashed by one of those teams - despite their structures culture etc. The fact is the current Roosters squad even though it's still a sight better than ours is also vulnerable to getting smashed by Melbourne. Cowboys were smashed by an under strength South's last night. You can't measure the performance of our side alone without evaluating the quality of the competition.
This squad is not worth sacking a coach for - and all it does is reinforce the concept that we are incapable of effecting real change and just keep talking the talk and no one is buying it.

So true, the relative performances say a lot about what kind of comp this is. Cowboys in particular would be extremely disappointed to be so far off Souths during Origin, actually doing worse than Tigers did, without seeming to cop the criticism Tigers copped post match.

Cowboys have only won 1 more match than Tigers this year, and they achieved it by beating us. But they get a pass in the media because their coach is in his first year and is safe, even though he's already called out the roster and their million-dollar player.

That’s a fair point. The only players Ivan recruited joined the club for the almighty dollar.

Pascoe still manages to escape accountability for that mess.

My other concern with Madge is whether he is the coach that will improve the players in what is basically a young squad.

His record at souths
Year Record
2012 16w-8l
2013 18w-6l
2014 15w-9l
2015 13w-11l
2016 9w-15l
2017 9w 15l

I still have the view he fired up a squad the John Lang had built and slowly took it backwards. Unfortunately what he inherited here was not as good, but it is getting worse.

Madge brought in most of the players who Souths currently rely on for their success - Reynolds, Walker, Murray, Johnston, George and Tom Burgess, Damien Cook. He inherited Sam Burgess and Inglis.

The comment in the DT article that Finucane wants $550k at most clubs but $700k plus 4 years to come to WTs must be a real worry.

You mean the media speculation that is not verified? Hardly a worry.
