To me that warriors game showed how bad our "marquee" players are. Perfect time for them to stand up and prove their worth when Laurie went off and they failed. Watch the replay of nofo on that Brooks drop out. Hopeless. Brooks himself failed badly in that game both as captain and proving he is worthwhile as a player to another club. If I was a recruiter from another club that game would take 100k off the package for lack of ability under pressure. Madge is trying but he is getting badly let down by his senior(read highest paid) players. Still think they should have given up on the top 8 tilt a few weeks ago and set up for next year dropping anyone that is not in the plan. Seems to me Madge has a top 8 clause in his contract and the players know it so if the club sacks the coach the players can say to their next suitor look it was coach not me.

As they have been doing for over a decade now. This is what needs to change, not the coach

Clearly he’s feeling the pressure by trying to defend himself with “look at all the young blokes I’ve given debuts too”. Falls on deaf ears when all of them bar Laurie have been in and out of the team all season. If I’m a youngster, I’m not going to the tigers because my development will continuously struggle because I can be in and out of the team after one game.

thats accurate or not...but if it is it sounds like a pre concieved plan
to blood a lot of promising junior

Weve also had Stef ...not just Laurie

And just because you debut doesnt automatically guarantee you a starting spot, hard work
and another off season is at play here as well as cap management

Anything worthwile is never easy, but i think a lot of players have your attitude these
days, that its easier and better elsewhere

I also like giving a young guy a taste of first grade and sending them back down to work on the things that they need improve with that knowledge and experience they gained from that time in the top grade.

That’s fine as long as they know what to work on. I can’t see any development at all in anyone. For example, You would think our hookers would be developing kicking games by now and being given the confidence to do these things also. It’s always left to Brooks because no one else does it. When you watch the storm you have backrowers , centres ,wingers hookers ,all of them doing it because it’s everyones job to do what ever is required. It’s always someone else’s job in our team, it’s a joke.

You nailed it, all the top sides have multiple play makers. Storm has Smith, Cronk, Billy and Munster, Panthers had Cleary, LUI, Teo, etc., Souths have Reynolds Walker, Mitchell etc,etc, Easts had Teddy, Morris bros, Manu , keary etc. Parra, -Moses Gutheron , Brown ets Manly, have Tommy T, Jack T. Dce etc.
We have Brooks and not much else, and he is a one man band.

Brooks is a wall flower, Doueihi is blossoming in the playmaker role

Desperate Two point field goal attempts and a missing dummy half had me wavering, but I think I'd still rather sink with Madge than contemplate sacking another coach. He still seems genuine in being up for the challenge.

It doesn't matter how genuine you are, how passionate you are, how invested you are if you're just not up to the job.

I genuinely feel for Madge. He is all of the above, but three years of failing is long enough. I personally wouldn't mind him staying at the club in some capacity, but not as head coach. I also realise Madge would probably not stay unless he was head coach. Who knows?

Under Madge we have just looked... sad. No other way to put it. Cleary had us tough and hardened. What has Madge done?

As much as I hate the way Crawley bashes us, the other week he made a good point on NRL 360. He said that under Ivan Cleary, he saw the Tigers improving. He has not seen that with Madge. When you look at the personnel available to Cleary, I can't see much difference in quality to what Madge has had. To me it is obvious, the coach has the greatest effect on how a team performs.

To be fair I’m not sure how Crawley would see anything.
I just hope Scott Woodward’s system has a way of identifying players who have intrinsic motivation to win.
90% of our first graders have no interest in performing.

The coach trains them, plans their development and their game strategy so he is completely responsible for the player's performance.

Immaterial of Sheens actually arriving onshore, Im pretty sure he has been researching and forming opinions. It will be interesting to see where this lands although I do think Maguire's time is up, the squad cannot escape the ramifications of their lack of effort and performance, they too must be ready to be tapped on shoulder.

In what areas does he actually assist the club that can be made public?

Harry T was also Balmain number 1 ticket holder for a long time in the 90's
