Problem is now its publicly known they are split - if they do keep madge, he’ll be under that much media pressure next year, it might be untenable.

He'll be under that pressure anyway, what's the difference? Madge with a string of losses under his belt 2022 is a dead man walking.

There was always going to be external pressure, the difference is the unity of the board in a strategic direction.

Split board spells no unity, spells troubles

Covid hasn't helped here. Without Covid we probably would have had Sheens here for the latter part of this season and he would have been able to assess Madge and the dynamic amongst the group - making a decision about future direction a lot easier.

Madge is being dragged through the mud the longer this rubbish goes on, has the board considered Madge on a personal level whilst they postpone meetings on his public future , I hope if they decide to keep him after all of this, that he tells them to jam it .

Just sign madge so we can sign the crap players noone wants and be done with it

Or sign Ciraldo so we can sign the same crap players and be done with it. Then we can all debate how crap front office is next year.

So no one wants Madge to stay by all accounts apart from myself , i just believe in the good ol aussie fair go however that’s prob a thing of the past .I would just like to see him be allowed to honour his contract

He deserves a go without flogs like packer and the guy who signed him clinging on for a pay cheque

Before they reveal their decision re Madges job, they should announce that Nofo and Brooks are free to talk to rival clubs as of now

I get it but Madge can only be redeemed by winning and (probably) finals in 2022. Board support will become irrelevant if he starts the season badly.

If they're really after Ciraldo as we keep hearing, a delay of another few days probably isn't a bad thing. By week's end the Riff will likely be out of the race and talks will be on in earnest.

That might make Nofa choke on his coconut juice.

If they haven't already with his manager.

I have no doubt that is the reason for the delay. Our club has always been a predictable mess. Chapter 2 of this story is where he laughs in our face.

Postponing a meeting that is being held to decide such an important step as sacking another coach because some of the Board need more time to study the relevant review, is not a bad thing to do. Certainly better than pushing on and making an ill-informed decision. However, what does look amateurish is announcing a meeting without ensuring that the participants are actually ready and prepared to address the Agenda at hand.

For me it's not so much the meeting, it's that they cannot seem to keep anything behind closed doors! Certain board members feeding their own narratives to their favoured journalists for self-serving reasons is just poisoning the waters.

'Torn' Tigers board delays definitive call on Maguire

A definitive call on Michael Maguire's future as Wests Tigers coach has been delayed as multiple club board members requested more time on Monday to consider their position on his tenure.

NRL.com understands that a 4pm board meeting on Monday afternoon was cancelled "very late in the piece" according to sources, to allow further consideration of the football department's review.

The Tigers board is understood to be genuinely torn on whether Maguire should be backed to complete the remaining two years on his contract, or if his position has become untenable.

A vote on Maguire's tenure was expected to take place, however that decision has been pushed back at the request of powerbrokers.

Another meeting to discuss Maguire's coaching future is yet to be scheduled, though the club is cognisant of a call one way or the other needing to be made soon.

The Tigers board first began dissecting the review compiled by CEO Justin Pascoe and head of football Adam Hartigan last week before requesting further information.

Maguire's future at the joint-venture has been on tenterhooks since a dismal 38-0 loss to wooden spooners Canterbury earlier this month, compounding a 10th straight season since the Tigers last played finals football.

Maguire has two years remaining on a deal that was extended by the Tigers just last December in a bid to create stability at the club.

A gradual slide from ninth to 11th to 13th during Maguire's three seasons in charge has prompted yet another overhaul, with club patriarch Tim Sheens to return in a head football role.

Sheens is still yet to arrive in Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions delaying his departure from the UK, but has taken part in elements of the review via Zoom as well.

The Tigers inability to land a marquee signing in recent years despite realigning their salary cap is understood to have been a focus of the review process.

Recruitment and retention decisions have been put on hold since the end of the season given the conjecture around Maguire, with the Tigers boasting more than $1.5 million in salary cap space for next season.

All that football know how on the board making football decisions ........no wonder everyone else involved in rugby league thinks we are a joke .....

Kick us out NRL ...please ...do us dying fans a huge favour and euthanise us

Speak for yourself you miserable bugger
I’m not gonna have to pretend to support a team despite purple really being my favourite colour

Quite likely. All this talk about Ciraldo not being interested in a head coaching gig at Wests Tigers is hard to believe. There are limited opportunities (16) and few openings at most times. Unless he really enjoys carrying Ivan's clipboard around, he'll have a go!

Soft cocks

Lol swapping out weight plates for identical looking versions that are much lighter. "We're all so strong this year, lifting the heaviest we ever have".

Its the equivelant of using a weight machine on light weight and then after finishing, put it on the heaviest weight to assert dominance ?

Classic. For some reason I pictured Nofa when I read that ?

But, what if the real issue with Maguire's capacity to instil a winning culture at WT lies in the farcical leadership of the CEO/Chair/Board and the unaccountable attitude that empowers the players?? That seems to be the real issue to me. Not Maguire's ability.

You have seen leadership?

Is this delay simply because Ciraldo said no?

Genuine question to anyone with some info.

Lol Wests Tigers now have a head of football and head coach stuck in England. Only at concord.
