In all honestly can anyone tell me that this team Is not getting worse the longer Madge is the coach ..it just appears to be going down hill !

As you know, I have been a Madge man...but, no, no one has improved.

Our best three players are Laurie, AD and Stefano...who all came in from good systems.

Everyone we already had who needed coaching has not improved.

I hate Cleary...in fact, I despise him...so, this is painful...but multiple players improved under him. Madge just has not added any structures to the team. Five hit ups and a kick? That is our whole offense.

That was painful to even write.

I know your pain. In another sense I have been waiting for Luke Brooks to fire. I now have serious doubts about his ability to be a threat to other teams. Hard for me to admit this. I agree about Cleary, too. Up until the time he started thinking about dogging us, a number of players were improving.

Actually sometimes they change it up. 3 hit ups and a terrible kick that no one in our side seems to know about, followed by a poor kick chase and a scrambled defensive effort. ✌

Mate you are spot on I got shot down big time when I posted this same thing last year and repeated it again a couple of weeks ago. I understand we are not going to make top 4 or even the 8 but I do want to see the team moving in the right direction that’s up not down

Is Toovey really an upgrade? I see him as a very similar coach to Madge

I really like Toovey as a coach but i honestly dont know how he would go because he hasnt coached for quite a while and the game has changed massively

That's what I'm saying he's old school and very tough. Did well with manly but never won a GF right?

It's an easy solution the 'sack coach' argument. Trouble is we've been losing these games for 20 years. It's not the coach, the coaches are the victim of our club. I like that he's angry after losses, I like that he's trying changes. We don't have much to work with and he's trying new things. Obviously defense is the most disappointing aspect of our play, our players just don't look strong enough to make dominant tackles and they aren't putting any pressure on teams. I think this is a problem but defending well also requires talent. We had Ivan Cleary, who is in charge of the best team at the moment, and he did nothing with our team and his big buys were Josh Reynolds, Moses Mbye, Russell Packer and Ben Matuliano. Then he left us. Before that Jason Taylor, before that Potter (people wanted him sacked before he even started) and before that everyone wanted Sheens gone. Judge maguire after next year. He's making the right moves but we've still got 1.5 million of our salary cap on Mbye and Packer. There is no one better out there.

Yep right let’s just keep serving up that rubbish just what is the coach’s job if it’s not to get the players to improve

John Morris isn't the answer.

I would like my footy team to look as prepared and willing as the Sharks ! But hey he probable is not the answer .

If he was the answer, then the sharks would be looking to keep him at all cost. Morris hasn't done anything to convince me that he can turn this place around.

No one can

It's probs the right move but who do you bring in?

Too many quitters in that run on side today. Not sure any coach can get them motivated. It's shocking to see tbh...

Not much available. You go inexperienced or you go peptide Flanno etc

I'd even go Toovey at this rate honestly

At least we could have a proper investigation after every game.

We were out coached today. Patten went around our compressed defence, targeted a winger whose positioning and decision making is poor. Ran 2nd man plays at lazy defenders who stop moving when the ball goes past them.

Exploited opportunities when Laurie was caught up in defence or out of position. I think he will clean out the cowboys and turn them around.

Madge has completed the clean out, but the replacements have continued the overa cliff trajectory.

Say what you will about Payten but he was a good clubman as a coach he's one of the smarter ones out there.

I think the reality is most players would have had a number of coaches in their career. They would know when they are dealing with one who has no idea and no answers.

Would be hard to lift yourself when you run onto the field thinking we will do a lot of one out running before a bit of running around in circles and if we are any chance, it is going to be on the back of individual brilliance.

We are now 1 from 5 and facing another likely loss next week against the Bunnies who are in red hot form. Today's pathetic first half effort was simply disgraceful. Hope we can turn things around but it had better be soon or another season will be over for us-if it isn't already!

Sack the board 1st

Can’t, we don’t have a say in the make up of the board.

Thus we don't have members we have season ticket holders... And we aren't a club we're a franchise of the NRL here solely
to pump up their coffers

That so right Ink. We're not a club, just a rubbish franchise like a maccas or subway.

rubbish

You are right and his players seemed to respond to him but i just feel that the game could have passed him by.

I like Madge as a bloke and thought he was the right choice at the time he was hired.

But it's becoming obvious the only tool he has in his coaches toolbox is a hammer. Flogging blokes and trying to be the fittest team ain't working.

He is poor tactically. We never play a different style of footy, depending on the opposition. It's the same plan week in, week out, regardless of opposition strengths or weakness. We are predictable as a result and rarely target a teams weakness.

His use of the bench never wavers despite the scoreline or game momentum. Too robotic.

He has a month to save his job imo.

Can't keep blaming Ivan forever, unfortunately it looks like the team aren't playing for him.

This team is in-coachable. Too many imposters calling themselves NRL players.

Sacking the coach is the easy way out and rarely solves the problems.

A lot of us look at our team with rose coloured glasses, but the truth is, Madge has a dud roster.

We need a club rebuild from the top down.

The board need to grow a pair and bring in someone experienced to have a good look at our footy operations.

Until things change at the top, we'll always be the NRL's used car yard.

If I was Bennett, I would be organising a chat with Pascoe, regarding coaching position next year
