He is not going to lead us to the finals next year, will not be here the year after. No one is interested in a coach with a recent winning percentage of around 30%

Nope, 10th in his last season, top 4 the two years before that.

Tinkler ruined Newcastle, not Bennett. It won’t happen, but his name alone would do wonders for recruitment.

The reality is we are a team with a bottom 4 roster missing our best two players in Douihei and Laurie. That was a straight up FU if I’ve ever seen one. The clubs has to work out why these players care so little about the club and their fans. That’s the issue. Madge or not they don’t care.

im happy to see madge go...... he has established a nice system with the juniors.... hartigan....kimmorley....sheens.... etc

so definetly no hard feelings if he goes .... no hatred like ivan took a big turd on our club when he left

The reality is we are a team with a bottom 4 roster missing our best two players in Douihei and Laurie. That was a straight up FU if I’ve ever seen one. The clubs has to work out why these players care so little about the club and their fans. That’s the issue. Madge or not they don’t care.

I believe they do care, they care about the long term future of the club. Short term pain for long term gain. Maguire goes and a new era begins.

The press conference was pretty underwhelming.. the Journo asked how can you be confident that we will improve next year and his response was Hasting, Oliver and the 10 blokes on the sideline. No Madge.. our best player this year is gone for 6 months, Laurie has only had one year of development. And the fact that he mentioned the young blokes is a worry in itself.. the fact that you are relying on 21 year olds to win you games is a big worry already.

I think Madge may actually make for a really good Juniors coach. I wonder if there is something in the contract that allows us to make him an U20s coach or something.

Looking at the available options, I would be enquiring with Bennett about coaching us for two years and identifying an understudy that he can develop to take over from him after that.

That’s just sad mentioning Hastings and the Pom. You know, people try and make themselves feel better by bringing the Dogs down by saying they will be in cap drama in a couple years. That remains to be seen. One thing is for sure, their supporters have a lot to look forward to in the short term, whereas we have a couple of SL players. Go us.

Yep you’re absolutely right. And we’ve been terrible with much better sides than this one. So do we go the Cleary route again and try to buy our way out of this hole? That’s what the Dogs have tried doing and they’re apparently in trouble before a ball is kicked.
