Magpies Round 1 side

They'll be further strengthened when Akeripa and Dwyer return from injury soon.

The Beast Akeripa will be back in a couple of weeks apparently and Big League states that Dwyer is out indefinitely.

Wests 18 - 10 against North Sydney at half time…Hopefully the boys can keep it up and bring in a good result at full time.

GO YOU MAGPIES HOPEFULLY ITS NOT THE ONLY NORTH SHORE YUPPIES WE BEAT UP THIS WEEK.

Andrew Fafita looks to have taken his tryscoring ability with him to State Cup. Just a question of when he gets a start in FG. No surprise to see Davis and Pritchard among the tryscorers too.

Exactly right…...

Them South Bears really can choke....

Got away with the win today.

Magpies started well and looked good for the first 30 mins. Fifita and Poaneki laid a great platform down the middle, Corby was killing them around the rucks and Davis was unstoppable on the fringes. Wests made ground at will. Pritchard was dynamic out wide and was breaking tackles and proving hard to put to the ground.

The first Magpies try was scored from a inside ball from Falcone to a barnstorming Josh Davis who crashed through the Bears defence. Wests had the run of the play and penalties early on which led to the second try when Fifita brushed and palmed off the defence from around 10m out to crash over beside the posts. A long kick from the Bears to the Wests goal line was recovered by Pritchard who beat the defence and raced down field to about the Bears 30m line before passing to Daniella who then found Falcone to finish off a great Wests try. This had Wests up 18-0 after about 30mins.

The next 30 was all Norths as they stormed back on the back of some poor Wests defence, dropped ball and wrong decisions in attack. To Norths credit they fought back and make great metres running at Wests smaller men. There halves started dominating and they made breaks on the fringes. How Sheens signed Daniella is beyond me still!

Wests hit back after sustained pressure on the Norths line and leveled the scores at 22 all when Pritchard scored after the ball was swept out wide to the right he beat his winger to the line. A field goal from Waters in the next set put Wests ahead 23-22 with 6 to go. Wests then scored the match winner when Everingham stormed onto a short kick to dive over out wide. The conversion from Gareth 'Jonny Wilkinson' Morton put Wests ahead 29-22.

From the kick off Norths regathered the ball and scored out wide through some poor defence. The siren went shortly after with Wests running out the victors 29-28.

A win is a win I guess but I wasn't to happy with that middle third of the game. Very poor actually. On the plus side the likes of Pritchard, Davis and Fifita didn't harm there chances of a call up in front of Commander Sheens.

My Best - Pritchard, Fifita, Corby, Rysko

Well said staks….pretty much how I saw the game...

Norths come back in the forwards seemed to coinside with Fafita's stint on the bench....

I will have to look at Corby more closely next week. I honestly didn't think his game was great. He distributed well but was rarely a threat out of dummy half.

Than again next week I get to watch from a real football ground where the assessment is easier to make
