Maguire Signs Until End of 2023

I'm with the 'no need to rush crowd' on this one.
We all want things done immediately - or sooner. But, just like with these signings, things take time.
Let's just settle in to the new season, and see how it all looks by mid season.
I am sure if everyone is happy, an extension will be put on the table. The club won't want Madge going anywhere, and I am sure Madge won't want to go anywhere.

I've been saying for sometime now we should offer Maguire a further 2 year extension with another year option in clubs favour on meeting determined KPI. This club has been crying out for coaching stability for so long. Way too much chopping and changing.

I hate KPI's. You shouldnt need a spreadsheet to work out if your employee is doing a good job.

Well the club needs to look at this , some onfield success By mid season done deal ... I feel there will be a few high profile clubs looking for a coach in the not to distant future ... Melbourne comes to mind can not see Bellamy there for to many more seasons !

WT's extended Tim Sheens on the wave of success and how did that work out.
The only thing we've won so far is the signature of some very good players no need to rush

Review his contract in the last year.

He signed until end of 2021 didn’t he?
Review it in 2021. If he takes us to finals this year and we are doing well the year after he’s a keeper. If we don’t make finals this year and next year we are going poorly ..... well?

Depends on results on the field for me....

I agree with @The_Patriot... if things are humming by mid season an extension to 2023

2 year deals from then on in seems like a good idea...plus I don't think Maguire is the type to abandon ship like the previous flog....

Seems to want to build something here concrete...

My thinking is he signed Brooks and a couple of others to 2023. He might as well stick around to over see it.

We extended Sheens because we panicked when the panthers were supposedly after him.Sheens was out of ideas imo and it was a poor decision to extend him

Give him 10 rounds with a side that has no number 9, then go from there.

We could be 3 wins 7 losses by Rd 10 and it's got nothing to do with his coaching ability.

With all the hype and hysteria in Tigerland take a good look at George Burgess and see what happens when the coach don’t let players recover from injuries.George has never been the same

If things are going pretty good by the half way mark this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they start talking about it.

The recruitment, and without paying overs really, has been surprising and pleasing.

Start to look at an extension of a year or two midway through this year.

Last year was basically a write-off. Madge inherited a roster that was an absolute mess. He should have now figured out who is worth keeping and where the team needs to be strengthened. His abaility to shape his own team is still hindered by long term high value contracts that he will be forced to carry.

The signings are promising, but the primary job of the coach is to get them performing as part of the team. Can't judge that yet.

This year will quickly become a write off if we don't sign a no 9.
And the kid from the Sunshine Coast Falcons with zero NRL experience that we're trying to swap Momo with ain't what I'm talking about.

Saw this and had a look at that 2014 team, there seems to be a fair few players that are probably considered injury prone now if not retired already.

Anyone who has met Madge would agree he is an impressive and positive individual who would be confident that under his leadership the team he is assembling will continue to improve. Around mid season would be when the club should look to extend his contact by 2 years as a sign of the confidence they have in him. At the moment I can think of no better mentor to lead this club into the future.

Here's what the good clubs do. Stability. Souths already looking to 2022

I want to see some real structure and decent success on the paddock ... there are coaches that are great talkers and great recruiters but lack success on the park .. I want to see what this season brings and how the team is performing .
No upgrade until things have changed then by all
means !

We are building to stability once the players Ivan signed are gone we will be in a fairly good position Madge will be where he wants to be there's no need to go rushing to sign him he appears to be a man of his word and would like to sit back and enjoy what he has built unlike when at Souffs where he was knifed in the back.
Getting back to Souffs are they building to stability or is Bennett helping a mate out who's had he's back for a number of years and I wonder if Bennett mentioned this to LM when he signed him

Stephen Humphreys in 2011 on the re-signing of Sheens until the end of 2014.

"It's a really good outcome for both Tim and Wests Tigers," Humphreys said.

"It gives us some real stability for the next three years and we are confident Tim will make the club successful."

We've never recovered.

Do we extend Madge now??? Sounds like we offer him a contract and he is grateful and signs. I actually think Madge will be the one pulling the strings and probably will wait and see how this year pans out before entertaining any thoughts of re signing. He would not be short of offers if he decided to test the market at the end of his contract.
