Know I am old school , but have done a few fitness tests in my time at different clubs , but in every situation you do three run throughs
One at 50%
One at 3/4
One at 100%
When Madge says the minute he hit full speed ....it should have happened before the match .....captain or no captain .....rookie as a replacement or no rookie as a replacement
Again this crap doesn't happen at other clubs that are worth their salt

You can't 100% test a potential strain in a non-combat scenario. I assume Madge mis-spoke because I cannot believe for a minute that Mbye didn't do any sprinting in the fitness test. If in fact he only jogged around and everyone cleared him to play, then yes it's complete amateur hour. What I think Madge means is Mbye passed the fitness test, then in a combat scenario it flared on him. You can only approximate real-match conditions in a warm-up.
If by "worth your salt" you mean Storm or Roosters, then yeah sure, we don't compare.
