Manly Week

Are you any closer to working out why our blokes can't keep it up for the full 80 AHX? Having asked that question, it could also be asked what other team can? Is it just Wests Tigers or do we mainly notice them because we have an interest in watching all their games? I'm no expert but the Storm are able to go the full 80 but even they looked a little vulnerable against the dogs last round. It will be up to Potter as much as anything else to change the mindset that can see Wests Tigers switch off during games.

The big difference is that when we switch off we leak many points

Other teams may leak a try or two ,but can then knuckle down again , we don't

I think the games against Manly then Storm will show us how we stand against the big boys of the comp.

I think Manly will win but if we can be competitive it will put us in good stead for the rest of the year.

Still like the idea Potter is looking for another prop.

Wests Tigers will need to man up if they want to beat Manly. They can do it easy. If Potter gets everyone playing for each other we'll create enough chances to put them away.

Woods, Blair, Farah, Anasta, Pettybourne, Bell, BMM, etc.
There is more than enough experience and skill in that forward pack to compete against Manly. A few offloads and a bit of mongrel and our backs will more than rise to the occasion and put the Silvertails away.

I don't subscribe to the Work in Progress mantra going around atm… for me thats just an excuse for an underperforming side.

The first 30 mins were great on the weekend, and the pack looked worse for wear after we threw game plan to the wind. We started out running the boys wide of the markers, of the 6 and 7 rather than Robbie feeding them, and it was working well. I think the tape sessions this week will re-enforce the merit of sticking with it longer if not the whole game and should show results in the gas tank. I dont see Manly steamrolling us at all, but the outcome will depend on the type of game we get sucked into if we cannot stick to our guns.

I'll be honest. It'll be a minor miracle if we win this. We're building but along way off Manly at this point. I think we'll improve again on last week but I don't expect it to be enough. Never say never though. We've got a few individuals who can bring manly some pain, that's for sure!

Plenty of talk of 80 minute footy teams. Not many out there imo. Teams are so close that it all comes down to the swing of possession, which has a tendancy to nearly even out over 80 minutes. Melbourne and the Dogs game, Souths and Penrith, Tigers and Parra all this round had big possession swings.

Its all about possession and execution. The top teams do that best. If we are to beat Manly, Benji, Robbie and Miller will have to outkick Cherry Evans and Foran just to stay in the game.

The rest comes down to attitude in defence and limiting the errors. Both of these we were much better at against Parra.

Manly will be rightful favourites because of our lack of consistency in these areas. If Benji has one of those days (the bad ones), Manly will put a cricket score on us.

We are certainly a work in progress. We have a lot of youth and we are still a way away from being premiership winners until this point we are a work in progress.

Looking forward to Blair taking on Manly. There is some history there especially with the Stewart brothers.

Love to see Blair belt a few of the Manly forwards.

there should be plenty to learn from Manly as we have Melbourne the week after. We'll need the steel.

Yeah but its the same for Manly. By the time we were on Ice after beating parra they were in the middle of being beat by the Titans on the gold coast. They've had to travel and have had a days less recovery time.

Poor old wests tigers again. lol :unamused:

Might be something in that eh?

Having Utai replace Koro will not help our cause in the least, imo.

They will be attacking that side of the field all night and putting him under the highball as much as they are able to.

Getting my wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow, hopefully I am able to watch the game and not fall asleep due to painkillers lol.
