Marina Go: A letter to Wests Tigers Members

….......All this hate towards Taylor is really getting very, very tiresome.

^What he said.^
Nothing about it is constructive. Nothing about it demonstrates a desire for the club to move forward. We have just gotten rid of two coaches in quick succession. Get it? Where exactly did that get us? So now sack another coach? Back to the future or just backwards?

As one of my work colleagues used to say: "Thanks for your input, it has been of limited assistance."

If they want a winning culture then spend the money on a good experienced coach, not Taylor or Potter but some-one like Folkes or Toovey. I think it is a mistake the board are putting all there eggs in Taylors basket when he doesn't have the experience or results to back up his plan. We will probably be in a better position to pay out his contract then be at a disadvantage of a huge chunk of cap for a bloke to play against us.

Folkes? are you kidding?

Toovey? are you kidding?

Did you see last nights game?

Oh by the way, Toovey was punted by Manly. Do you get it?

All this hate towards Taylor is really getting very, very tiresome.

If you want to do something constructive for the club, then get behind our new administration and coach and save your bile for the PREVIOUS pin heads that caused all this crap.

I hope JT proves me wrong but from my many years of watching rugby league I have a strong felling that he is not a very good coach and doesn't relate well to players (he might be a good assistant but I don't think he is a head coach). JT has not improved our side one bit this year and I am almost positive if we had stuck with Mick Potter we would be higher up the ladder.

I agree the last think we need is a Folkes or Toovey. If the club was really ballsly I would go with the Walker brothers (their style will work in time in the NRL).

You could direct that at the coaching staff- their game plans and team selections have us running last.

Marina was a bit silly to bring up the Wally reference because it happened in about 1990, well before her son was born and Bennett had a superstar in Kevvy Walters in the wings (Cherry has potential but he has a long way to go).

The thing I am most concerned about is the future. Can anyone really see Teddy, Moses, Sirro, Brooks etc all wanting to re-sign under Taylor? This will all be for nought if they decide to walk because they can't stand the coach.

Does anyone know what the younger brigade are thinking as the whole premise of the Farah sacking seems to imply that the kids will stay to build this famed culture.

The children, won't someone please think of the children…...

Some people on here are too critical of Farah.
He's earned the right to have a say in what he wants for the club.

I've been a supporter of Marina Go but in my opinion this statement is embarrassing. It makes it look worse than it already was.

Like hell he has!!

He is an employee and that is that.

You wanted accountability at the club? Well you are getting it in spades.

Farah is university educated and accredited.

Taylor is a graduate of Ashcroft HS who has only recently stopped writing with crayons.

I think Farah does know. Taylor doesn't. Ms Go backs Taylor. We're screwed.

There are and have been a huge number of very good first grade coaches who have never been university educated. Wayne Bennet for example was a police officer. The highest qualification Bellamy might have is a Certificate from the School of Cunning Accounting. There is absolutely no relevance between a university qualification and first grade rugby league coaching or first grade footballers.

We're running last and more than one commentator has stated we have not improved since round 1.

Questions need to be asked about Taylor, his methods and his ability to articulate his "vision" to his players.

I agree 'sunshine' that had we stuck with Potter we'd probably be further up the ladder. I happened to think he was doing a good job and I was an active supporter of him as coach. He's gone and I don't think he's coming back.
Taylor is now coach and there is a smell in the air that resembles the wafts coming from concord in Potters last days.
Like it or not Taylor is it. I'll back him even if it's just to stop the coaching revolving door.

I think this board is worse than the last one and Ms Go is a complete dud as a club leader and administrator.

She clearly believes using business-speak in an article will be understood by the fan base and inspire members to re-invest in their club. I'm sure we'll all be using terms like strategic pillars in our breakfast conversations with family today. NOT!

So, in summary, Ms Go tells us that Robbie is a self-absorbed, arrogant twat whose prickly personality and sense of entitlement make it impossible for the club to be united and for a winning culture to be established.

So Robbie's reputation is tarnished, officially now it would seem, although with no specific evidence provided other than their impression of his character and influence on the squad and club. So, after 13 seasons of service to the Tigers, he is officially outed by the chairperson as a source of disunity within the club and, in doing so, makes it even less likely that another club would want to take him on.

And, at the same time as outing Robbie, she unreservedly supports the direction the inexperienced, petulant Taylor is taking the club…..that is, to the wooden spoon in 2015 or to a flukey second last spot.

Harry and other sponsors must be really impressed!!

So, great effort Ms Go. You are the Peta Credlin of Wests Tigers...someone who has presided over complete dysfunction and abysmally embarrassing performance. Thankfully, Abbott will go soon, and so should you!

O God! A zealot.

Pin head warning.

You know what guys,I'm sick of hearing the same crap that has been coming out of this club for quite awhile now…Taylor's no good,Farahs no good, the Admin is no good, the players are young and not good enough and on and on it goes...this latest fiasco is something that has been building for a while in regards to Robbie and previous coaches, speculation, hearsay and innuendos no one knows exactly what's going on....

All I will say is,I really don't care anymore what happens to Farah,Taylor or the board....you know,I'm fed up ...I will keep paying my membership in the hope things get much better and if they don't and the JV folds,I don't care there are more important things in life than a screwed up football club and overrated, overpaid players...

And don't expect any tears rolling down my cheeks for Robbie or any of them....it's big money and a professional sport,if you cant handle the heat in the kitchen..then get out..

I have been a very passionate supporter of the WESTS Tigers since the JV,trying to stay positive in all the negative garbage that gets thrown around this forum and in newspapers etc, sticking up for the new coach, admin and Farah..I love the WTs,but if they can't sort this rubbish out, then I don't care anymore.I get paid to do my job and Iam reliable and responsible doing my job....Maybe some involved in this club should take a leaf out of my book and this club may just step in the right direction going forward....

Enough is enough......

You are 100% correct True Tiger. All this arguing and bickering about who is right and who is wrong is very, very, negative and not helping the Wests tigers situation at all. Posters like Bobbo125 for example who have no supporter empathy with this club are jumping on this forum with the sole purpose of inflaming the situation to their delight. I will now be sitting back and letting the people really responsible for looking after this club, namely the club management and administration, to do the job they have been assigned and paid to do. That is to put the club back on a solid footing and that of course involves issuing redundancies where and when they necessary. I have utmost confidence in this management.

Wow. I like it. Impressed.

There's clearly more to this picture with Robbie and has been for a long time.

Don't really care whatever that is anymore.

Let's just get on with it.

Sure these are just words but that's a CEO's job.

Bring Cherrington on, let's cop some more floggings as the young guns get their aim straight, but at least let's build an empire.

Over floating on the ceiling Trainspotting style following this club.

_Posted using RoarFEED 4.2.0_

Trainspotting u are hilarious, u must be on it now after those comments?!?
Lets get ready for the floggings, yippee cant wait…
Let the empire begin, what a load of crap..
When Bennett did it to the broncos, he was in charge a seasoned veteran coach not the idiot!
Broncos had several senior players, we will have none....
As others have said Taylor can't handle someone smarter than him at the club..
If I was farah I'd gladly go to state cup, watching Taylor crash and burn, then we is dumped 8 weeks in bring on the new coach.
Rise of the farah, he will return..
The rest of the players won't play for him, u wait!

Haha well we're fast approaching the toilet scene when it comes to desperation for a win…

All I'm saying is there's just been too much smoke with Robbie for too long for there to be no fire... And I say that with much regret as I think he is still the best hooker next to Smith but just doesn't do for us what Smith does for the Storm: his job...

I was rageful over Potters sacking and I haven't seen anything to suggest Taylor's better

Potters was a career full to the brim with winning culture

But here we are, and something's gotta change, and apart from Origin, and a couple of games where Robbie actually decided to get a bit creative, he hasn't provided what we needed from him

He's a good captain but he's no leader and as I've said before he's the first to hang his head under the posts when alls going wrong - when he should be motivating others

I'm over it so let's just start from scratch - forget 2005 for the near future - and invest in the future

And why not build an empire? Or should we just get out the barrow and start scratching together some mud bricks??

You seriously make me .

You say….."Toovey? Are you kidding "? And then you ask " did you see last nights game "?

Then you go on to say " oh by the way, Toovey was punted by Manly. Do you get it "?

You obviously haven't seen many Wests Tigers game this year or where we are on the Ladder, what are you going to tell me next that results don't matter like JT says

You seriously don't get the concept of the meaning how you run a football Club.

I'll simplify it for you.....Manly are a proud football Club whether you love them or hate them, they are a Club which demand success .
They feature in Grand Finals quite often.....a couple of times each decade always playing semi finals footy except this year. Reasoning for Toovey's sack could be a few things:
1\. The Contract saga with Glenn Stewart that apparently had a lot of players unimpressed hence why Watmough got out of there aswell that Toovey had a hand in.
2\. Had certain goals to achieve which he didn't meet.

But you know what? despite Toovey getting the Chop from the Club with still a Contract for the 2016 Season....you know what it tells me about the Manly football Club? They demand success and even if it means getting rid of there Coach who in the last 3 years has taken Manly to a Grand final and 2 semi finals.
Says more about the Club than the Coach.
They demand RESULTS.

JT Coaching record has nothing on Toovey, so don't criticise Grant87 if he thinks Toovey could do a better job than the current one who claims to be one

Good to see her 18 year old son remembers how Bennett got rid of Lewis. I'm nearly 25 and wasn't even born yet. However, her kid must really know his history and have an excellent pre-natal memory seeing as Lewis got dumped from Brisbane in 1990 and her son was born in 1996-1997\. Must of been really heartbreaking for the young kid.

_Posted using RoarFEED 4.2.0_

Well spotted. Why would anyone believe what she says? She's obviously got no issue with sprouting bs.

Really? Come on guys at least be fair with your opinions.

I'm a lot older than 18 and was certainly around when Bennett upset the Bronco's faithful but I only know what I read. I wasn't in the room when Bennett told Lewis that he wasn't required anymore.

So I guess Marina's 18yo son must have read about it, much the same as I did.

Has the original post been edited because the reference she made about her son, Wally and Bennett is now gone?

I'd had a few last night when I saw the comment and posted and I'm glad someone else saw it too otherwise I'd be thinking I'd imagined it.

Marina Go is a liar. She must be sacked.

In this article from yesterday http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/wests-tigers/wests-tigers-chairwoman-marina-go-opens-up-on-why-robbie-farah-had-to-go-20150828-gja5ur.html#ixzz3k9ZkgCLW

she states "These things happen all the time. My youngest son put his arm around me and said 'I remember when Wayne Bennett got rid of Wally Lewis'. These things are done not for personal reasons but because the club is put first."

The Wally Lewis incident happened in 1990.

In this article from 21/6/2013 http://www.1millionwomen.com.au/blog/marina-go-our-1mw-woman-of-the-moment/ she states "When I became a mother nearly 20 years ago"

Even if that comment refers to her youngest child, it suggests that child was born after 1993.

It may seem like small fries in the context of the whole saga, but such dishonesty should not be tolerated by the chair of this club.

Pathetic.
