Marina Go - Members Q&A

Well a few have said why bother - why bother indeed.

This is the chairperson of the Wests Tigers who is asking for members questions.
Why would she bother if she was reading this topic.

90% of comments were about her being a woman (as if that matters), the questions being vetted so only the right ones would be asked. Then the piss takers - who is your favourite One Direction singer etc. etc.

I think Boon Boon 2 was one of the few serious posters to ask legitimate questions.

Question One to the Forum: Do we as a group want to be taken seriously by anyone in the WT management?

2\. Does it matter that the Chairperson is a woman? ( experience should count and would the same sexist comments have been made if it was a chairman?).

3\. When was the last time that Bailey (former Chairman) asked the members anything?

4\. The board to my mind, in the time they have been there have done all the things that they could have given the short time they have been in charge and the financial system they have inherited from a total bunch of self absorbing nincompoops. Why was the old board allowed to get the club into such difficulties?

5\. The most important thing for the Board to have done is straighten out the financial crisis that the club is in. They are doing that by taking on that responsibility in spades, by releasing unwanted players, not back ending any new contracts, spending money that they don't have etc. Should we have expected more?

6\. JT was appointed by the board for his three year plan - he is hog tied by not having money (has had to release players to save money) to spend on a few experienced players such as a couple of centres + whoever to balance the team and help the youngsters. He has to make do with what he has until the money crisis eases and the youngsters gain NRL experience. Why are we crucifying people for the circumstances they are in and because of our higher than realistic expectations?

So the situation is as I see it - we have a new competent Board, we are after a new CEO, Moss was appointed by the board but mostly has his hands tied at the moment, the coach has his hands tied at the moment as well, we have no money to buy experienced (not marquee for many years) players and we have a lot of young players that the experts consider could be anything in the future (Moses, Brooks, Cherrington, Sironen, Lodge, Simona etc.) Think Teddy, Woods, Tapau and Sue have already proven that they are NRL standard. Until we strengthen a couple of positions and the young guys play more games for experience we are not going to do too much.

We are fighting it out down near the bottom of the table with the Knights, Parramatta, Manly and Titans slightly above - have a look through their teams and see how much experience they have compared to us. Not saying we should like it but with what we have we are not going too bad. We could have won a couple more with a touch of experience in our halves and without Badger the cheat - Under the circumstances I am satisfied that everyone is doing their best for the Club.

Good on you Marina - keep up the good work that you and the Board are doing - I think that the majority of the Members and supporters (don't discount them) are behind you 100%.

Hehe
Anyone who criticises the club is seen as not true supporters.

My experience is that it is the people in any organisation that challenges any status quo are the ones that drive improvement.

Firstly cq the above is just my opinion.

It would be a strange old world if there is no criticism. You are correct the most times it also leads to improvement.

The points I was trying to cover were that imo I thought the thread mostly was being treated as a joke. That Marina Go was subject to lots of comments that a chairman would not have been and that I thought everybody was doing the best for the club with what they had to work with.

I was not saying it was great, that we should be happy etc. I just think it is pointless to criticise something that really can't be changed. When we have money and can buy a few players and we are going bad - then everyone should be open slather.

Rant over.

Time for talk is over.
Its time to act.
Ive heard all this crap before…the promises, the goals, the Q&As....yeh they may be a new admin but Im sick to death of the talk and spin that comes out of concord...they talk the talk.

Show me results onfield, its all I give a damn about now...the excuses are wearing thin...stop talking, start acting and then I might listen...its all been nothing but crap previously.

Maybe all crap - but there will be no acting till they have some coin.

I think Marina will be busy looking for some answers once she gets some of the questions from the die hard fans..

If we can get some coin then, simply put, we will be nowhere competitive on the field for years and the club could fold up. If the club doesn't fold up I am not looking forward to putting up with another five years on the bottom of the ladder at the whim of freeloading coaches and administrators.

The use of a "?" from A to E might have (or might "of" as you prefer to write) inspired some confidence in your comments. But D) really did it for me. Who are you to decide it would be stupid to sack Taylor?

As I suggested earlier in this topic, rather than Ms Go provide answers to questions posed by fans/members, I think we should be able to pose the questions for all fans/members to answer within a survey through something like Survey Monkey (it's not expensive or difficult to arrange) for Ms Go to get a better understanding of how we are feeling in Tiger Town.

For instance, using a scale of 1 - 5, with gradations such as: 1 (not at all), 2 (to a minimal extent), 3(reasonable OR somewhat), 4 (mostly OR to a large extent), 5 (fully OR completely), pose these questions to members:

1\. How well do you understand the Jason Taylor strategy for developing the talent and success of the Wests Tigers over the extent of his contract?

2\. How much confidence do you have in Jason Taylor's capacity to fulfil his strategy?

3\. To what extent have you been informed of/understand the complexities surrounding the Balmain Tigers contribution to the joint venture?

4\. To what extent do you understand how "success" is measured at Wests Tigers?

5\. To what level do you think the players are responding positively to the Jason Taylor coaching strategy?

6\. How strongly do you believe that Wests Tigers NRL team have improved over 2015 under the coaching of Jason Taylor and his appointed staff?

7\. How much confidence do you have (should personnel remain as they are) that 2016 will be a more "successful" year than 2015 for Wests Tigers NRL team?

Look…..I've given up. But there is any number of other questions that could be posed for fans and members to respond to and, surely, those responses would be informative for our new board to consider as they look to the short- and long-term future of Wests Tigers?

After all, they've decided to take on that role. A simple answer from Ms Go to sanitised and edited questions from fans/members is meaningless by comparison.

If you want to know, Ms Go, YOU ask the questions and publish the responses!

Another question I would ask is…...How will the club attract memberships for2016 after such a dismal and uninspiring year and how can we expect anything different in 2016 without attracting some quality talent to our club

I think the new management team / board need to be given two years to turn the place around. If they can't do it in that time then I think we are flogging a dead horse.
