Danney Weidler just reported on channel 9 live from Leichardt Oval. He said Benji Marshall is expected to announce tomorrow that he will sign a lifelong deal to remain a West Tiger for the remainder of his career.

No word on how much cash is involved, but he did say Marshall is so happy at the club, he's here to stay for good.

Massive news for the Tigers :sign:

Just heard on Ch 9 news on Weidlers 'Scoops' that Benji Marshall is going to be a Wests Tiger for life and a press conference is being held tomorrow to announce such. According to Weidler he has no intentions of going to union.
If this is true then that is awesome news!!

Great news on Marshall!!!!

BUT

Im sure that must mean he has some sort of guarrantee sheens will be sticking round.
Im sure some people will be upset.

Mixed feelings on this. Just last week i was hoping some youngsters would come through over the next 2 years that allow us to let Benji go….........but at the same time, if he plays consistantly, it will be great to have him as a life long Tiger.

I guess this means contract talks with Sheens are going well............if the club re-signs Sheens, surely they'd put a clause in the contract that states that failure to make the 8 this year will cancel the contract, but i doubt Sheens would sign something like that.

saw it myself on 9 - excellent news all round. what a great club we must be. this is really extraordinary in rugby league these days. No one does this anymore in one fair swoop. Unbelievable. Its like the good old days in rugby league. Blood in blood out.

The NRL will be given an almost perfect pre-season gift tomorrow with Wests Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall to sign a lifetime deal with the club.

Marshall, the New Zealand captain, has agreed to a deal which will keep him at the club for six more seasons.
It is almost certain an announcement will be made tomorrow. The club has scheduled a press conference at Taronga Zoo for tomorrow afternoon, one Marshall is due to attend.

Marshall had been contracted until the end of 2011, but the extension will now see him in Tigers colours until the end of 2015\. That will take him to the age of 30, which means the likelihood is that the 24-year-old will be a Tiger for life.
Marshall was secured by the club as a 16-year-old through the Tigers’ partnership with Keebra Park High School on the Gold Coast. He made his first-grade debut in 2003, at 18, and led the club to its first premiership in 2005.

The signing would be a massive boost for the Tigers, who recently secured the services of dual international Lote Tuqiri for the next three seasons.

It would also be a significant boost for the NRL, after the well-documented off-field problems last season. Marshall was one of the best players in the competition towards the backend of last season, along with Parramatta superstar Jarryd Hayne, who has coincidently also resigned recently with his club long term, until the end of 2013.

Having those two players on NRL books for so long is a shot in the arm for a code which is bracing for a new threat of an AFL club in western Sydney. The two most popular players in the region have now been locked up for a significant period.

WOW - That's amazing news -

he obviously loves the tigers, what a guy! a great man on and off the field.

Proud to have him in our club.

Great news!

Benji is one of the most marketable sports players in the country. Unlike your one/two season wonders, Benji remains someone who thousands of kids aspire to be.

Well done Wests Tigers!

This is amazing news, he is a loyal person and I believe returning the faith shown in him by the club when he was down and out. Great work by the leadership team at the club.

Wow…...2015 if true...is astounding...........

Does it come with a Sheens clause?

Zoo would be a perfect setting for a duel announcement..........
