Marshall helped Wests Tigers fullback JamesTedesco decide

The other thing that caught my eye though was saying he couldn't reach an agreement with the club. Put simply, they didn't offer him enough money. Puts his whole "I'm going to Canberra for the opportunity, not the money" story down the toilet

Just a thought … when Mr T was released a few weeks back, nearly every player in the club jumped onto social media and wished him well and told of their disappointment that he wouldn't be remaining a Tiger.

With the Tedesco announcement yesterday, the only player to wish him well via social media that I can recall is Blake Austin. There has been zero from everyone else, which I find a little weird considering Mr T didn't even play a game of First Grade, yet Teddy has been with the club since he was a kid, grew up with a lot of the boys, and it seems like they have brushed him.

Might be a non-issue, but its possible that his team-mates aren't too impressed with Teddy's decision.

Of course they are not….Club wanted to keep him, club offered him a 4 year deal on excellent coin for a 21yo with 25 NRL games and he strung everyone along with BS then tells us to stick it!...what praise can he expect from his team "mates"

Mr T went to pursue a better opportunity. He was behind a few players here. Tedesco turned his back on the club and his "mates"

it was reported he had already told the team his decision.
do people usually go on twitter and repeat their thoughts they gave in person.

were the people wishing t good luck given a prior opportunity to in person.

What a load of bollocks. The guy got offered a massive contract from us and the money difference isn't even that large. He earns the same amount over 4 years with us rather than 3 years with them.

You'd think with the amount of injuries he has had that he would give us that year.

Mayer and the club have done absolutely nothing wrong. Drop Braith & Tedesco to State cup now.

Irvine this is true….why didn't your mate Tede$co give us 1 year...for all the support WT have given him ---See Proctor.

There are some really funny posters on this board and I'm surprised at what has been said by some of them.

The facts are pretty clear cut. We offered more money over 4 years than the raiders did over 3 years. Its a money grab and nothing more. Its not Mayer's fault as some posters are insinuating. Its Tedesco's and I assume his family and support group. It reminds me of Mundine and his followers and maybe getting rid of this guy is a good thing.

The contract was backloaded. But if Happy's right, and he only wanted an extra 70k across the first two years, then it seems crazy we didn't make that happen.
You'd have to think Mayer had reservations about him. And yet his beef about losing money invested in juniors suggests otherwise.
Guess we'll never know the full picture here.

If he had a family and a mortgage I could understand it. But being a 21 year old kid living at home it all seems pretty sad to me how much of a driver money was. Maybe there's a new pair of shoes coming out he wants to buy

i mentioned in another thread that some senior players have probably expressed opinions that taking a pay cut to stay is not ideal. marshall probably feels he was hard done by coz he stayed with tigers for less and when his form dropped, we refused to cover the losses.

farah also rates sticky highly.

The club upgraded his existing contract for the years of 2014 and 2015 TP. He bailed because we wouldn't extend his contract past that. So despite his piss weak form, the club covered his losses. He chucked a world class hissyfit and left when we wouldn't extend his contract past that.

And what happens if he gets an injury like Tuiaki ,MacKinnon ,Dwyer ??

If there is anything people need to understand that being a professional footballer isn't a long time gig What is the average career of an NRL player (40-50 odd games I thought was mentioned )
You take the dollars when you can

People have the right to set themselves up for life after football

The Tigers will regret this decision for many seasons to come

Wonder if people will react the same way if Bodene Thompson joins Teddy at the Raiders ??

Nice work boys except you missed the most important part of that story.

**When Tedesco received his first offer from the Tigers a few months ago, something did not add up: his 2015 salary was less than his current contract value.**

I think what Happy has been saying all along is true. Mayer never rated him.

If you seriously want to keep a player why the hell would you offer him less than what he is already getting paid ?

Happy…Can you confirm that is true ?

How could his 2015 offer be less than his 2014 ….. Good one Grant :unamused:

and this still bugs me today, that we were willing to make a deal with his lazy ass.
i've always wondered if it was just for show, knowing he would reject it and leave.
well that is what i hope was the strategy.

I think this is pretty obvious - Happy lied. Its that simple. 70k is 35k post tax. Over 4 years this is nothing. It has to be a lie or Tedesco is just stupid. I don't think he is stupid. I just think he is a disgrace.

Tedesco just wanted all the money he could get and went for whoever paid him the most even though the difference is not really significant.

He would be better off at the Tigers. He would end up with more money in his pocket. The Tigers offered more over 4 years and he would be paid that money. If he was after long term security he would have gone with the Tigers.

Stop trying to justify this or at least be honest about it. He went for the money grab plain and simple.

If he went for the money grab that's fine. People are entitled to take the money and run. I think the circumstances suck as much as anyone else, but how many of us have legged it for another job for more money? I have: three times.

I can't understand the overreaction. The only justification for the hate this kid is getting is if he gets a start for the rest of the year and doesn't put in. If he chucks a Prince/Te'o then he deserves everything he gets.

I'm not trying to justify anything He has the right to do whatever he wants with his life

How would he had more money in his pocket Maths not your strong point ??

He would play 4 years at the Tigers and get 300 k less

Wonder of you'd be prepared to do that ??

Words mean S%$t in this situation Steve , go walk the walk right now tell your employer you want a 20% pay cut to do exactly what your doing now even though it below the award you could earn

Then get back to us hero and jump back on your soapbox

Then he qualifies for the NRL's new rules which means his contract is paid out

And if you were in the same situation wouldn't you want the biggest payout Alex??

Of course. Yes there's the odds of that happening, but they are slim. I would much rather focus on having a positive career than wondering about ifs and buts.

Similar to when NSW picked Buhrer and Reynolds on the bench to cover Farah "in case" he got injured.
