Marshall in Port Macquarie

They do enough touch footy at training as it is. There's enough skill and attacking prowess among the team as it is. I want to see a new and much improved defensive attitude in 2013.

I hope he goes well.

Anyone worried about him getting injured just needs to relax a little I think. A Souths player missed a season after falling over his daughter at a BBQ and he is just one of the many players who have missed games due to hurting themselves outside the field of play.

Very true Allan. Or maybe they need to ban BBQs as well!! I don't see playing touch being any more dangerous than normal team training and certainly less dangerous than ordering cheeseburgers at McDonalds…

How about getting headbutted at the local pub?

U would be surprised how many NRL stars play up there for that tournament . Hodgo used to play , both McGuiness boys did . Utai played in the Oztag one along with a lot of other stars just cause they play league doesn't mean they have a social life . Would rather them doing that then out on the town on the drink getting into fights

Touch footy is close enough to League. How is golf going to help anything?? Maybe mentally but nothing useful to miss training for tbh.
Good chance for Benji to get his running game going anyway and some confidence back.

if he gets hurt, and misses footy that is unlucky. He is far more liukely to get hurt at training than he is playing touch footy.

I really don't think Anasta missing one or two training sessions would impact on him too much to be honest- he has been in 1st grade for 13 or so years.
Bit petty by WT for not letting him play in the tournament I reckon.

Goose it wouldn't be unlucky , it would be gross stupidity if he was injured and I would hope the club would sack whoever signed off on him being allowed to play

He is a professionsal rugby league player and one of the biggest money signings at our club

His one concern should be rugby league and any thing that may jeopardise that should be banned

I suppose it would be OK for him to be a spear catcher as well if that was one of his hobbies in your opinion

You can get hurt playing touch footy sure, but the risk is low, it is far more likely that he would be injured at training or doing something else.
You cant stop people from living, you can get injured driving, walking the dog, screwing in a lightbulb, the risk of injury for a footballer playing touch would be not much more than those activities.

A guy I work with coached an opposing side (to Benji's) at the the Touch Footy and he told me today that Benj has picked up a rib injury after a heavy collision with another guy!! Wasn't able to fulfil his commitments with his team. Anyone heard anything?

It's not as though he was playing for a nuffie team, he was representing the Wests Magpies. If the team had that weekend off, I can't see it being a problem.

Wasn't able or just didn't want to?

Geeze, hope he doesn't have a car from a sponsor - he might have an accident!
I don;t think th Warriors or North Qld, or Newcastle, or Canberra etc should be allowed in the comp either. Players have to either fly or drive to get there. They might have an accident.
Can;t risk that!
