Marshall just a maybe for Tigers

Wests Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall is facing a significant battle to be fit for the club's crucial Friday night clash against Parramatta.

Marshall, who injured his knee in the club's clash against Melbourne in round 15, returned to training yesterday after being given some time off last week, with the Tigers having the bye in round 17.

Marshall was expected to return against the Eels at Parramatta Stadium but was only able to complete minimal training yesterday, and the _Herald_ understands he is only fifty-fifty to play. It was unclear last night whether the Tigers would name Marshall, and then give him every chance of making his return, or play it safe and rule him out today. The club would be desperate for Marshall to return quickly from his medial ligament strain, given the Tigers looked out of sorts against the Bulldogs last start. But they will also be reluctant to risk him as they will not want him aggravating the injury.

The Tigers may also be without forward Liam Fulton, who is in doubt following a number of head knocks.

We can't afford to lose any more players, come on Benji,we need you,our attack is just plain ordinary, and Canterbury are going hopeless yet we couldn't score against them.

this year is well and truly a 'what could have been year' had we not had all these injuries. Honestly, if he's only 50/50, I would personally prefer him to rest it it if there's a chance he could aggravate it by playing.

No point risking him if he's only going to be at 70-80% by Friday. Might be an option to run Lui and Moltzen in the halves with Brown getting a run at fullback.

Leave him the extra week unless he is 95%. If the medial strain turns into a tear you can kiss 2011 goodbye . If everyone who is reported to be back is , hopefully they will be able get the job done .

Agree.

I still reckon Ellis spent extended time out because he played with niggles. It's not worth risking one week for the whole season. Parra are a shambles and I think with Lui/Moltzen or Lui/Miller the job can be done (only if Miller is given halfback duties though.)

If Marshall out Miller at 9 ,Farah at 7 Lui at 6 Thats what was working in the last 20 minutes against Bulldogs Brown to fullback .

Our attack has been ordinary with him in the side remember, or has everyone got there rose coloured Benji glasses on. Benji will not fix our problems! in fact half the time he contributes to them.

I agree, we looked much better with Robbie running the play, looking to put runners through holes. I am sure he will play with the 9 on his back, but hopefully can play plenty of time in the halves.

I think we looked better with Farrah at 7, cause the other Robbie was finally out of 7, Lui is so horribly out of form, anyone else feels better.

im being harsh on lui, but watching a couple replays through the week, unbelievably poor

Lui is rubbish - one good game all season.

I'm a fool for rating him… nobody that slow and uncommitted in defense is a first grader.
