Marshall opens up, money, his relationship with Wests Tigers

He's gone from entitled brat for me into grub ass-wipe "Justin Hodges/Paul Gallen/Greg Bird" territory now for me.

Pithy little man.

Marshall conceded: “In order for me to play last year (at the Dragons) I had to forfeit money that I was owed from (the Tigers)”. is different from being owed Money…When Benji was released from the final 2 yrs of his contract I believe there would gave been clauses about playing for an other NRL Club...

Perhaps he should take this up with his player manager Mr Tauber....rather than the media

Since Anasta made his claim there has been dead silence,,,makes you wonder regarding the validity...

Yeh Id have thought if the club were in the right, theyd be making some noise…as it is letting it lie...the damage is done

Let's be fair. I believe that he is telling the truth and I'm O.K. with that.

Whats he ….and Anasta ...got to gain by lying about being owed money.

People need to take off the goggles

True Ink

But why dance around it ??

Anasta at least had a big enough set and came out and said he was owed money

Come out , be honest and totally up front and lets get to the bottom of it , pay players if they were owed money and start afresh

Why would they play it out in the media?

Smart would be to settle it behind closed doors as it should be…Anasta has said nothing more since,,,,yet here we have Media dragging up his comment from a month ago...gets hits for their website I guess...

We all know that third party agreements cannot be guaranteed by the club. If he is owed money then he should out the party that has not fulfilled their part of the deal.

Merrin's agent also has a story today where the dragons haven't honored their original deal. Plus they have had their issues in the past like Gasnier not being paid in full. This should hardly affect out ability to sign Merrin.

He is a first grade footy player, and if he couldn't tell on his own that he was playing crap surely Potter benching him would have rammed this home. Bet Sheens would be happy with a few of those comments too.

But now he is working with Cherry, but wasn't he one of the coaching staff that didn't tell him he was crap…...

Not doing yourself any favors!

People are saying Anasta is totally wrong, we owe him nothing…so what is there to ''play out''?
Damage control.....us saying nothing can also be looked on as an admission of guilt
Two ways it can be viewed

Can't wait for the season to start and the dragons fans start to crucify him… Then he'll shut his trap

Silence is deadly , if we owe Anasta if we owe the slug , the club is wide open to media bashing ,not heard of any off late , they both may be owed cash , best wait and see ,if I was owed Money and moved on , I would be making some noise , big noise , Benji is one of our greats but bad luck now he is just a player

Because they would look like fools if they weren't being honest and would shoot their potential media careers in the foot by doing so

Players talk to other players. Wests Tigers do themselves no favours by ripping of players. There are a number players some have left the club and some are still at the club who I am aware of that have not been paid money owed by Wests Tigers.

Things should improve with Phil Moss now the football operation Manager, he is just a tremendous person and he is good at what he does. I just hope he hangs around long enough to make a difference.

I think previously, there was no accountability. People did what ever they wanted. No with an independent board that answers to the NRL and guys like Phil Moss, I dare say that will all change.

That's pretty dismal if Tigers are short changing players.

Here's hoping Moss can make the change.

If the guy who was winning most of our games for us was taking pay cuts, I find it hard to bag him out.

It's hard to see why he'd lie about this. He's quite happy to concede he got too comfortable and played poorly. I don't think anyone really chooses to compromise their career, especially when they know the taste of success.

Just all very unfortunate really this last few years, and the culture of the club as a whole has been clearly to blame.

When Anasta first made the allegation, Mayer came out saying it was news to him and that the tigers didn't owe him anything (inferring it may have been third party related).

I'd assume with Benji being on the money he was with us that the shortfall in payments would also be from third party agreements.

Don't you think that if the Tigers really did owe either douchebag money, that they wouldn't be suing or trying to get their entitlements ? It annoys me that they're both making these damaging allegations and then playing it out as if they're so generous and nice not wanting the money. Either prove your allegations or shut the hell up you ungrateful dogs..

It could be that they didin't honour some of their third party commitments and the Third Parties voided their agreement and saved on some expenses.

Benji went from club hero and legend to ultimate traitor and scum bag with this article. Cant wait for another 2-3 years when Teddy, Moses and Brooksy are running rings around him and are spending the money he thought he was entitled to..

At my age, maybe my memory is starting to fail, but I thought Benji left the Wests Tigers to go and play for the All Blacks! How come he did not continue with this "new" plan?
Every year for his last few years with the Tigers, he had a "new" plan to wow us fans with his "new" performance for the season. IT NEVER HAPPENED.
