Marshall opens up, money, his relationship with Wests Tigers

Im sure none of us here know the true story behind both stories, but i do know its a terrible look for the club and does us no favours

You would think with these type of allegations being made which are obviously damaging to the club and its recruitment that they would come out with some kind of statement to explain their side of the story. If it's true accept the responsibility and say the club is moving to rectify these problems. If it's false say so and ask for exact details rather than veiled allegations. Doing and saying nothing just gives everyone including players the perception that it is true and the club couldn't care less.

Am I the only one who finds nothing wrong with the way Marshall has come across in this article?

Sounds to me like he knows he was owed a large amount of money but he doesn't want to speak ill of the club.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. With a more professional board and properly structured football department, along with the NRL looking over things, players not getting paid their full entitlement should be a thing of the past.

As far as third party agreements go, regardless of any supposed rules, they are obviously tied to playing for a certain club, and a farcical aside to the salary cap. WT and/or the NRL should have those funds deposited into a joint account or something similar within fourteen days of the contract being signed.

Were we so dysfunctional? that players feel the need to report there situation to the media for action to be taken with there situation? FFS

That's how I read it to, he took pay cuts for the benefit of the club on the proviso he would get what was owed later on. He was actually helping the club.

I actually wonder if his contract extension was agreed to by SH, that GM went back on had anything to do with the repayment of this money. And therefore the reason he is missing out. (I'm just floating an idea).

One thing if this is all true its a real bad look. A guy helping the club out with the salary cap losses out. People can say Benji has no loyalty in this tread, but if this is true WT had less to him

I hope I'm wrong about this to be honest and the WT are in the right however the more of these story's you hear…. .

Mighty Maggy hits on a good point. The relationship between the club, the supporters and Benji suffered the last couple of years due to Benji's performance on the field. At the end of the day, thats what he is required to do, perform on the field and unfortunately he was not performing to a standard. As a long time supporter, it was time for Benji to move on from the Club. We don't need to revisit this again and again. 2015- Brooks and Moses…............

100%
Unfortunately some people just like to stick the boot into Benji at any given opportunity. I agree his on field performance with us in his couple of years at the club were disappointing but that's no reason to question the guys integrity.

I'm sticking the boot in because he doesn't just straight out say "yes the club owed me money "

He would know one way or the other if he was owed money or not owed money

By saying I think I was owed money is just BS and doesn't help the current administration sort out in issues

If any former players are definitely owed money come out , let us sort this out and fix the issue and move on

I really don't think people understand what a damaging problem this is for the club and explains why we haven't signed a recognized player from inside the NRL since Blair

If I was a mate like Farah is I would be absolutely seething at Marshall

Benji has integrity? Well you could have fooled me. Going on and on how this club gave him no guidance over the last couple yrs, or no indication his standards were slipping, yet Potter actually dropped him. What bigger indication does one need to pull your finger out? And how did he reply? It was the beginning of the end cos he thought that was below him. Even Farah, who admittedly hasn't been an angel himself recently took it on the chin when he got benched, he didn't let it bruise his ego.

Also, why does Benji, a professional athlete, need to be told by the club that he was overweight? You don't even have to be a professional athlete to realize that, just an adult.

Always the same story with Benji, always someone else's fault.

You can tell by reading his interviews that he's somebody whose been accustomed to being babied and spoiled his entire life

Players take pay cuts all the time

In the last few years players from Melbourne , Manly , Roosters ,Newcastle ,Brisbane have done so and has been openly reported doing so

Benji is saying he took pay cuts over the years so the club could keep other players, he makes it seem like its unheard of for players to do this?

This happens quite often and isn't unusual, and Benji isn't alone in saying it. Players should stop the martyrdom.

If these media seeking self centred Prima donnas are short changed by the club there are legal avenues for them to pursue instead they take to the media… Marshall is such a tool... One the one hand he says he doesn't want to bag his former club, well mate by simply writing this article that's exactly what you are doing!!! Can't wait for the red V to turn on him

Benji is not saying he is owed money now. He states as it was a deal to offset the clause that he wouldn't play for another nrl in that time frame.

I think Benji has played the story a little to favor himself. I don't think he signed any contracts for more money. I think he meant that he could have earned more money if he had done something else.

He definitely didn't deserve the amount of money he thought he deserved and we are lucky with the way it played out.

In stating all of that he doesn't sound that bad to me and he has been a club legend.

Yep. He lost money because he came back to the NRL and he had a contract with the Tigers to play for the Tigers. It was his poor decisions that led to the loss of money.

Why regurgitate what he has said in the past ?
He could of got more money elsewhere , He took pay cuts to keep other players at the Club etc….
I really don't understand the point of the Article , Maybe he misses the Journo's talking about himself and want's to spin some old News again .
Round 1 can't come quick enough and that's what i love about the Festive Season , New Year's around the corner and so is the Footy.

bungi having a cry it wouldn't be the club that owes him money. no one told him he was playing bad its a pity he didn't read this forum. you have gone don't kick the club that put you through school and put you on the highest pedestal any player could put. you wanted to go you terminated your contract like a sook now your crying .sorry bungi we are over you
