Marshall

He has failed to find touch from a penalty NINE TIMES in the past five years. This is absolutely pathetic.

Perhaps we should sign him on an incentive contract. Dock his pay everytime he:

Fails to find touch from a penalty
Throws a forward pass
Throws a pass into the grandstand
Puts up a bomb that goes backwards

Sorry, I love the guy. I've got three or four jerseys in the cupboard with his number on the back. He's given me so many good memories over the years and is the most exciting player I've watched in the game.

But he's done. Finished. No zip or spark anymore. He's lost everything that made him one of the hardest players to handle in the game. All that's left are his stupid errors, which he makes week after week, month after month, year after year.

It's time to part ways and move on.

This is the sort of garbage he's been dishing up for year, and MORE so lately…and he wants a payrise???

Undeserved.

Go to yawnion Benji

marshall wouldn't get a run in union ,well not at 9 10 or 15 and even the wingers need a kicking game .to play union your kicking has to be top notch ..all it is his manager going for a pay rise , an extra 5 % for the next 4 years . marshall will be given what he wants because the dinosaurs on the board will see his off field value . remember guys and gals ,we were run by inept balamain and western suburbs boards before we became the wests tigers , same old faces are still running the joint .
don't kid ourselves people . we lost that game in the first 40 with a piss poor effort .

Benji did some very good things with the ball tonight. He got some good early ball to the backs. He also threw a pass over the sideline again, threw a forward pass to ayshford to put us under pressure in our own 20 and didn't find touch when we were on a role with plenty of time to go. He never got rid of the stupid mistakes and it's just not good enough as a supposed leader.

Don't know why our 6 is getting blamed for an average overall team performance. If he picks up the ball from Sue and scores and finds touch he's a hero, is what it is and he's the villain.
Guess thats what happens during contract negotiations. Unfortunate.
Flame me if you want but the reality is that we were average to the point Woods probably won't get selected for origin and Farah looked pretty awful in the first half.
Yes he killed our chances but the team overall shouldn't have a horrible first half and rely on a second half to win.

But he didn't kick the ball over a painted white line. He's a professional footballer paid thousands, nearly millions, to do a job, and when we had Cronulla on the back foot and a chance to win the game, he couldn't kick the ball over a line - something even I could do, and I'm not a multi-million-dollar professional.

it may have just been a missed kick for touch but in context it was a crucial mistake putting the team back under pressure after having crawled out from under a rock after the disgraceful first half. As a leader of the team Benji should have realied the importance of the kick, the stage of the game, the importance to the team and did everything he could to ensure the ball went into touch. The momentum of WTs at the time could well have led to a try and put the team well back into the frame- so so so frustrating.

He is the only frequent idiot in the whole nrl that misses

ummm marshal is still under contract till 2015 . marshall can see the writing on the wall and he and his manager are just trying to squeeze the lemon for the last drop of juice.

this is a joke he gets paid close to 1 million. Sure it was a team effort but being one of the highest paid players at the club those are the moments where he has to stand up and do a job. He didn't and he hasn't for years. Didn't find touch, missed tackles, forward passes and also throwing passes into the grandstand. They showed what Brooks can do on channel 9 on the pre-match thing and i really like what i see. Siro to back row. Anasta to 6 and Brooks to 7 for the rest of the season. Benji left right out !!

Marshall's performance tonight warrants a bench start next match. That will let him know where his future lies with the club. Time to give someone else a chance at 6, what has the team got to lose.

I know the benji myth has some folk on here fooled but I was laughing when Gould blamed ashford for benji's stupid forward pass.

" I blame ashford for that forward pass. He should know that benji has a little shimmy step"

The excuses for this guy is amazing.

Haha yep, I laughed at that too. I started yelling at the tv, "here's another option Gus, just go to ground with the freakin' ball."

If that is the best i could do, I wouldn't be playing football, let alone at making an ass of himself in the footy show. The man must have elephant hide.

Well all Mayer has to do is reply the game tonight for Benjis manager and then ask him again what he wants, I bet he couldn't keep a straight face.
Also the way every channel 9 commentator fawns over him is pathetic I don't think I've seen the famous benji step in years his cheque book must be weighing him down.
How about finding touch, not throwing forward passes and not passing to the touchy and then try and renegotiate that you've already signed.
PS the footy show isn't your formal whinging platform go on there and entertain your nit doing it on the footy field you may as well entertain else where.

The problem with Benji is that he has run out of his bag of tricks whether its because every one knows his game or he has just lost that Zip its sad to say we may be seeing the last two years of the Benji era at the club and perhaps the NRL
With this season now shot what can he pull out to earn that extension? . The coach may as well experiment for the rest of the season whether its positional or a bench spot as nothing Benji can say now is going to convince his critics that he has future beyond his current contract unless he aligns his worth with his performance

Hasn't he been given an upgrade in terms of $$ for the existing 2 years he has (2014 and 2015) and I'm not convinced it was just in keeping with salary dap increase… I think because we don't want to renew for another extra 2 years (thru to 2017) we kinda sugar coated with an good upgrade to existing deal

If that's the case. Benji should be over the moon and be jumping for joy..

What a circus
