Absolutely! Have been saying this for years! This is where we need to improve themost!

Interesting to see what will happen to our"fringe" first graders if most of these supposedly sure signings are to occur before June 30\. There is a lack of plausibility in many of these suggested signings.

Speaking exclusively to foxsports.com.au on the day Manly trumpeted the signing of the Kiwi international, Taylor explained why the Tigers would be better off without Taupau.
“It’s a pretty simple story for us. We made Marty an offer earlier in the year, which after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing he decided to knock back,” Taylor said.
“He obviously went and investigated his options throughout the back end of the year … there was a lot of talk that he was a bit restless and that was due to the fact that he was talking to other clubs.

“It became clear to us that he’s obviously been offered some really good money for 2017 and that he was going to take up that option.
“For us as a club when it was clear that he wasn’t going to be here for 2017 it was a fairly simple equation, in that if we let Marty go now as opposed to keeping him for one more year, we can take some money forward in our salary cap and we can put ourselves in a much better position to keep our best young players.”

If Marty can make us a better football team, and provides value for whatever money we pay him, then that's all that matters.

If this rumor has any legs (and that's a BIG IF), then I trust Cleary and Pascoe to do what they judge to be in the best interests of this club.

The emotions for Marty on this forum are unbelievable….he left us for better money and got it...he now sees us as a club going very well,but the $$$$$ signs were far greater than loyalty and hard work,which this team atm are doing and giving very well...he would be a reasonable bench player at best....and he would want big$$$$ to be there....just my thoughts,but don't let me spoil the emotion party..... :blush:

Maybe now it is….but at that time it most certainly wasnt. He was brought in by was was being best utilised Potter who was unmercilessly knifed by many within the club ad replaced with a hack that quite clearly couldnt coach. There was zero loyalty within teh club at ANY level at that time and its ridiculous calling Tapau for it. He wasnt a Tigers junior like Teddy, Woods or Moses. He had ZERO reason to be loyal to the club.

IMO he did nothing wrong and if he had a desire to come back, Manly let him go and it didnt kill us financially or salary cap, it would be a great thing. Lots of ifs there.

Sure, they can take him, plus we'll even take Taupau off their hands so to lower their cap issue. In all honesty if they are after a relatively cheap prop means they are seriously thinking of releasing a forward to lower their salary cap issue. If he signs elsewhere it's really just a new contract. Whatever Manly agree to pay as part of the fare is part of a new contract, not an existing one. At least that is how I understand it would work…
