Marty Taupau Wants TIgers Return

Taupau left for Cash no other reason..he was offered more to jump ship earlier than he would have eventually..

I'm also not sure some of you blokes have been following Manly's issues…overpaying Taupau is among them..

Manly stumping up some freight for him to come back here would be Mastercard stuff....Priceless

Make it happen Wests Tigers management...

If Marty wants to return, his manager can ring wests tigers, and see what happens.

Hell yeah for manly paying him to come play for wests tigers.

We must have signed up the roosters accountant recently with all these players coming here

If we have signed the Roosters accountant, this will be our best ever signing.

Absolutely! Have been saying this for years! This is where we need to improve themost!

Interesting to see what will happen to our"fringe" first graders if most of these supposedly sure signings are to occur before June 30\. There is a lack of plausibility in many of these suggested signings.

To back up my earlier post

Speaking exclusively to foxsports.com.au on the day Manly trumpeted the signing of the Kiwi international, Taylor explained why the Tigers would be better off without Taupau.
“It’s a pretty simple story for us. We made Marty an offer earlier in the year, which after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing he decided to knock back,” Taylor said.
“He obviously went and investigated his options throughout the back end of the year … there was a lot of talk that he was a bit restless and that was due to the fact that he was talking to other clubs.

“It became clear to us that he’s obviously been offered some really good money for 2017 and that he was going to take up that option.
“For us as a club when it was clear that he wasn’t going to be here for 2017 it was a fairly simple equation, in that if we let Marty go now as opposed to keeping him for one more year, we can take some money forward in our salary cap and we can put ourselves in a much better position to keep our best young players.”

Great plan JT, how did that work out, so glad he got kicked off the bus, as for Tapau, we could really use him now

We either want a winning football team, or a bunch of players who have hearts of gold and rescue puppies on their days off.

If Marty can make us a better football team, and provides value for whatever money we pay him, then that's all that matters.

If this rumor has any legs (and that's a BIG IF), then I trust Cleary and Pascoe to do what they judge to be in the best interests of this club.

The emotions for Marty on this forum are unbelievable….he left us for better money and got it...he now sees us as a club going very well, but the $$$$$ signs were far greater than loyalty and hard work, which this team atm are doing and giving very well...he would be a reasonable bench player at best....and he would want big$$$$ to be there....just my thoughts, but don't let me spoil the emotion party.....

X2

Mercenary.
Chasing money and glory elsewhere.

Disloyal. We scooped him out of ISC and welcomed him with open arms, giving him his first real chance and he walked away as quick as he could when the big money offers came in….

He's good for a few dropped balls. He can stay at Manly stinking it up with the other cry babies.

West's tigers is a place for real soldiers, ready to die for the emblem. That's why teddy, Moses and Woods had to leave. We do not tolerate weak cats.

Are we basing all this from mystery journo X… The nameless type?

But Packer, Matulino, Mahe etc are here because of their undying love for the Tigers?

Maybe now it is….but at that time it most certainly wasnt. He was brought in by was was being best utilised Potter who was unmercilessly knifed by many within the club ad replaced with a hack that quite clearly couldnt coach. There was zero loyalty within teh club at ANY level at that time and its ridiculous calling Tapau for it. He wasnt a Tigers junior like Teddy, Woods or Moses. He had ZERO reason to be loyal to the club.

IMO he did nothing wrong and if he had a desire to come back, Manly let him go and it didnt kill us financially or salary cap, it would be a great thing. Lots of ifs there.

I thought it worked out really well.

I Manly friend of mine said that the rumor is Manly is after Tim Grant for next year for a two year contract

Sure, they can take him, plus we'll even take Taupau off their hands so to lower their cap issue. In all honesty if they are after a relatively cheap prop means they are seriously thinking of releasing a forward to lower their salary cap issue. This Marty story might be more than just a whisper .. !!

Swap with Marty before June 30 thanks

Grant has been on the outer all season. Would be a win-win for all parties. They get a solid but unspectacular prop on 200k. We take the more expensive impact player off their hands.

Cant blame Marty for chasing the cash at Manly, our cap was all over the place from years of mismanagement.

If Marty's contract was one that was done dodgy what happens in the future with his contract, do they just change it?

Take him back so long as he’s prepared to play ISP until his form warrants first grade , else upset all other players who have and still are working their way up from cup

Tim Grant won’t be offered an extension after this year so will go if offered a 1st grade opportunity. We need someone to replace him so why not Marty - would add great bench impact

If he signs elsewhere it's really just a new contract. Whatever Manly agree to pay as part of the fare is part of a new contract, not an existing one. At least that is how I understand it would work…
