Sea Eagles do not need to release Kelly for 2019 he is off contract this year I believe. It was in the paper quoted as at this stage his unsigned but we are hoping to get our salary cap sorted to sort that out.

Maybe I misunderstood and the CEO was referring to before June 30 release. I thought they had him for 2019, but I am probably wrong

The possibility is that there is an option for 2019 in club or Kelly's favor and for that option to be taken up the Sea Eagles need to sort out their salary cap.

Did a little digging around the net. Most articles say Kelly is off contract end of this year but his official profile on his management's Web page says 3 year deal when signed with Manly. So I'd say 2019 is either in his favors or the club's. Most likely the club's with Kelly probably keen to attract more money for his next contract and the Lyall Gorman comments saying that they will not realise him. Either way if we are going to sign him we can in November this year for 2020 and Manly can't do jack about it and will probably be forced to release him a year early.
