Mathew Lodge

Channel 9 in Brisbane has released footage of Mathew Lodge's home invasion in New York - a real thug telling a young women "Tonight is the night you're going to die" and then assaults a family with a 9 year old child.

This campaign against Lodge is disgraceful. There is no difference between the Matt Lodge incident and Russell Packer's. Both have committed horrendous crimes, both have faced punishment, and both have been given another chance by the NRL. If you are cheering for Packer next Saturday, you should also accept Matt Lodge back into the game of Rugby League.

I hope he rips in, behaves and has a great year!

Packer did time for his crime, what has Lodge done , except skip the country and his responsibilities, as far as we know .
But, yeah, it’s crap to wait until now for the Telegraph to drag it all up .again

Pretty much agree with all of this. At least Packer actually did his time, Lodge came home and had a piss up with his mates.

It is very typical of the Errorgraph to dredge this up a week before the season starts. Pack of degenerates they are. For a publication that relies so heavily on this game they seem hellbent on killing it any way that they can.

Packer did jail time, is remorseful and has turned his life around. Lodge has served no time, given no apology to his victims, hasn't paid them any compensation and basically couldn't give a toss about what he did. Prick should never be allowed back in the game, imo.

Yep Packer did his time and accepted responsibility for his actions.

Lodge on the other hand hasn't, he persued a young lady and threatened her, she sought refuge and he proceeded to belt a random person. Hasn't apologised, taken responsibility nor has he paid for his actions.

I'm glad he is no longer with us.

Lodge spent time in County Jail and was given back his passport with permission to leave the country by the courts.

All these scenario's are about the system/process, not the crime. If you feel there is an injustice of punishment between Packer & Lodge, the system is at fault, not Matt.

Lodge's actions that night were truly disgusting but 'if' he is going to pay any compensation then he has to earn an income, working as a labourer or a stop & go man would mean he could barely survive let alone pay his dues, playing Rugby League means he 'may' do so, obviously he has no conscience.

Yes you're right the system is at fault, but would it hurt for Lodge start paying out the court ordered compo to his victims or at least apologise to them?

'Stop & go' people earn 130K a year! Yeah I know, madness eh? I read about it in one of my local papers, couldn't believe it! Wanted to quit my job then and there and go join the construction crew

So a guy who has a history of beating people or threatening to beat people isn't to blame for bashing and scaring the crap of people in their own home.

How anyone can defend this guy and considers he should be allowed to play professional rugby league amazes me.

Must be nice to have an old man who is a high ranking cop

He hasn't done the time and after seeing his celebrations when he got back in the country he obviously couldn't give two hoots he did the crime

Karma and the football gods need to kick in big time and blow this mongrels career apart

I dont mind people's position that suggests they feel he shouldnt be allowed to play professional rugby league because of his actions, but I'd expect them to feel the same about Russell Packer.

From an NRL perspective, once they allowed Packer back, Lodge was always going to be registered.

How can you compare them Watto? Packer has paid for his actions, shown remorse, been accountable and taken steps to turn his life around. Lodge has done none of this.

Not to mention comparing what they actually did - Packer savagely bashed a bloke over an argument about a cigarette - disgusting? Yes for sure! Lodge chased 2 women down the street with intent to kill, or at the least rape them, then savagely bashed a guy who came to their aid in his apartment building in front of his wife and kid. I'm sorry but there is a bit of a difference to these crimes, imo.

Stop believing american hype and hysteria….

Both committed drunken acts of physical abuse...

Both where sentenced by a judge for the crimes and served there penalty...

Both have 'said' they are sorry and taken steps to turn there lives around.

One plays for the Tigers in 2018 is the only difference!!!
