This is my son homework for yr 9.
We get answer x=6 but book says x=22.
Which we have worked out how to get but both working appears right and we don't know why.
Depends on if you x by 3 or 4-X first.
Thanks in advance
(x+2) / (4-x) + 2 = 2/3
(x+2) + (8-2x) = 8/3 – 2x/3 [multiply all elements by (4-x) to get rid of denominator on left side)
-x + 10 = 8/3 -2x/3
22/3 = x/3
22 = x
It's a bit of bodmas plus rationalisation of the equation.
It's bidmas .....@Geo has to worry about bodmas
It's BIDMAS if you use the term "indices" or BODMAS if you use the term "orders" but I'm guessing you're talking about something completely different to maths.
lol there is no indices..so therefor coiventy is 100% correct..it is BODMAS..which = happy proves again he is no smarter than a 5th Grader..
See how you jumped in AFTER the experts worked it out
