Matt Groat - Bring him back

Time to bring the big guy back for the sharks. He was a regular first grader before being injured.
I can't understand why he didn't play this week…but then I can't understand why Blair is there every week.

From what I hear he was very ordinary today against Norths

NO question; this guy needs to be in now! For Pete sake he's a specialist prop with size and will add punch alongside of Woods. I'd have Ava coming off the bench too and just what we need leading up to SOO when Woods gets the call up.

Passi didn't play. I would guess he will get a gig in the Wednesday night game.

Groat played in excess of 60 minutes game time today and was great. He and Ava were up agains really good opposition and drove the team straight up the guts and got them rolling. No backward step was taken

Was it 2 or 3 stints Smeg ?? If he managed two stints he should be right for a bench start in top grade

Sorry MODs please delete ,it didn't show up that it had gone through from my end

Based on reports from today's game, stick him on the bench for the Sharks. They'll be missing Gallen, but there's no secret as to which way they will play us, and that's straight up the middle and on the edges with their backrowers. We need some size and go forward in the middle and we only have that with Woods. Buchanan is doing a job but is a work in progress (as is Groat), but we are lacking size and workrate and I think Groat will help improve this.

I'd be inclined to drop Spence at this stage, only because Potter is barely using him and we need the extra grunt.

How many games back has MG had now?

A good 60 min spell in reggies could equate to a strong 40 min showing in NRL…we need more from the bench

Not if we have two props on the bench with either Ava or Spence If we could get 40 from both Ava and Groat ,which would relate to 60 for Woods and 40 from Buchanan Pretty good mix don't you reckon Ink ??

This would be a better option, see if Groat performs as Spence has done good, but not anything awsome.

groat is useless that stupid pass he flung out the back for locke to score in the warriors game at the sfs priceless, nearly as good as dane laurie

Groathas been solid since his return. I would like to see him and Ava go up in place of Spence and Buchanan.

We gotta be seriously desperate for him to get a run.

5 straight losses , a forward pack spending much of its time on the backpeddle and struggling to contain much bigger forward packs isn't seriously desperate enough fo you Demps ??

Through in the injuries;
we're obviously desperate.

came in here to see GNR's thoughts on this but he hasn't posted yet.
i'm really not a Groat fan but give him a bench spot to prove us wrong.

Only been back a couple of games hasn't he? I'd be looking to get his match fitness right before throwing him back into the NRL. Sheens brought him in underdone, would hate for him to cop that again.

Bit a difference CB ,Sheens was using him as a starter ,Potter would only need to use him as a bench player

Groat is more suited at the top level as a bench player imo

He played two games of Ron Massey Cup with the Magpies and got rid of a lot of rust. Played two big minute games in NSW Cup and is doing everything he can to get that call up.

I was never a Groat fan but he is bigger, has a much improved running style and body positioning and his defence and line speed are very good. It really goes to show what a terrible mistake the previous regime made trying to blood two 20 year olds as sstarting props. Woods is that once in a blue moon player who could have played prop in NRL at 18\. Most props need time to develop and find their feet. It is the reason that a true reserve grade focus is needed.
