Coming out of a cupboard to raucous applause doesn't show much remorse to me…surely that is taking the pee...

What's he doing in a cupboard? 😱pen_mouth:

In the initial attack in USA ..police found Lodge hiding in a closet..probably nothing in relation to this vid…but just found it odd...

Then again the whole thing is bizzarre...

They were singing the 12 days of Xmas and you can hear them sing the last line…. And matt lodge in a pantry

Obviously they were taking the piss of the whole situation that occurred in NY. Pretty stupid if you ask me especially now that its been videoed and the victims perusing him financially.

Dealing with people like Lodge must be like dealing with small children. You can explain things until blue in the face, but they will forget or not understand almost everything you say, and just behave on impulse.

I can't imagine how many times his parents must have said "you did *** what? Jaysus Matt how many times do we have to have this conversation?"

gee the two main guys in the video (singing along) look like the Fafita brothers.

Yes, they definitely were. They're mates. Like peas in a pod. Andrew would be better off spending quality time with his partner and baby boy, instead… Idiots.

Former NRL player sued for $3m over New York rampage

Former Wests Tigers forward Matthew Lodge is being sued for $3 million following his New York rampage when he terrorised a woman and her nine-year-old son.

Manhattan couple Joseph Cartright and Ruth Fowler have a launched a civil law suit in the US District Court claiming emotional distress, economic loss for destruction of property and out of pocket expenses after Lodge ransacked their apartment, attacked Mr Cartright and frightened their son. Another victim, German tourist Carolin Dekeyser is seeking compensation for emotional distress.

The three alleged victims are seeking at least $US1 million in punitive damages and no less than $US200,000 for economic loss for destruction of property and out of pocket expenses. The lawsuit comes five months after pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour reckless assault charge following the October 2015 rampage.

The lawyers have requested judgment be made in Lodge’s absence and plan to pursue his assets in Australia with the trio revealing the sacked Tigers prop had so far ignored their request.

Mr Cartright and Ms Fowler are seeking at least $1.023 million for emotional distress after Lodge allegedly forced his way into their Upper West side apartment. Ms Dekeyser is seeking no less than $341,000 for emotional distress.

Ahh America…..the land of the free and the home of litigation.
Lodge's parents will be stuck footing the bill for their idiot son and wondering when he will stuff up again next.

How does inter-country litigation work? Is there a way to enforce the claims if Lodge does not reside in the US?

Not sure how it works.

True FTB

But act like a normal human being does and you don't have to worry about it , true ??

When in Rome …........

That's a lot of Mula. I don't know Lodge's or his family's financial status, but for the victims getting anything close to that amount of $$$ would be like getting blood out of a stone.
Lodge could offer them a much lesser amount though which they might happily accept.
Lol… Only in America. :sunglasses:

How do you sue someone for money they don't have? Where do they expect it to come from? If he was 30 and played NRL for 10 years then fair enough he might have some assets, but suing a 20 year old for that much seems like a waste of time.

You might be able to sue for a % of future earnings but even that would be speculative. Suing for a couple of hundred k in total might be possible, if made in installments but if he's got a salary of say 30-40k (working in retail etc) it all needs to be relative. They might as well sue him for 100 million

No way in the world am I supporting Lodge. He is a clueless moron. I feel sorry for his parents having to continually "change his nappy" so to speak.
He would have been better off putting the word 'dumb' in front of that other word he wrote on his wrist tape a few seasons back that he got suspended for…..especially if it was a note to himself like he claimed it was.

Not sure how it works.

We have a memorandum of understanding in relation to dealing with the United States, and Mutual Assistance Requests can be requested between governments when it comes to criminal matters. Not so sure about civil cases, but it wouldn't surprise me, otherwise the US Lawyers probably would have dropped the matter. Lodge's parents may be in for some hardship if this progresses further.

Anything that stops the idiotic minority killing or maiming the sensible majority must have some logic Ink

And that's my issue with it Ink , it good people like ourselves who end up paying the price for this

I actually wish I could go a day about not thinking about what happened

I actually wondered whether the people arguing your point actually may have been the peeps who might be doing the wrong thing , but I could be mistaken

Then again , maybe bars and clubs should have breathalyzers to prevent patrons getting too drunk and doing harm to others around them

That wouldn't happen. The almighty dollar rules the world. Pubs/clubs are happy to keep serving people even though they are smashed.
The government bung on about saving lives but they couldn't care less- they would prefer the revenue that alcohol taxes and fines for breaking the law by driving over the limit bring.

I'd say it would be fairly limited. US Courts like passing these kind of things with little prospect of collecting. Unless they can get at his assets they're not going to get much joy. It's not like Lodge is ever going to be allowed back in the states.

Some bloke just on the radio recline lodge is playing ng for St Pat's in the Penrith comp.
Fifitas team?
Is he allowed to play at all?
