Matterson 274 meters

Easily our best signing since Ellis. I honestly don’t know how we got him - when you compare him with our previous 7 years of recruits, it’s like the heavens opened up and beamed a divine light over Concord for those few minutes when he signed the contract with us 😂

It’s so obvious he has been nurtured within a winning culture and now he is playing in a team whose culture is just happy to be thereabouts in the comp, rather than doing everything possible to win matches. This is why he stands out so much. If we had another one like him in our backline, we’d be a much better side.

Matterson loves the club and has family connections.
He won't be asking to leave.

He already has a GF win also, so it is not like he has not experienced that stuff and will leave to chase it.

Make him captain and go find three more like him.

Then we will finally change...

Matterson was brilliant last night. Also liked the efforts from Clark and Mikaele also very impressive. Unfortunately no idea how the Clark/Twal front row combination is going to work in future - they are too alike.

Our pack for next season:
8. Twal
9. Liddle
10. ?
11. Garner
12. ?
13. Matterson

14. Aloiai
15. Mikaele
16. Lawrence
17. Clark

Sign some more aggressive big men for next season to accompany our toilers and we should be good.

Clone him

@TigersBusDriver Agree with buying aggressive forwards.. I think our backs work fine when they have a platform set for them but if not they struggle. Unlike the top players when we struggle we struggle and thats the difference between us and the top players. If we had more forwards like Matterson we would be fine.

he was amazing. best player on the field
BUT
the ball went to him too much, kinda stiffled the attack.

@hsvjones Yeah our backs are alright but we are crying out for a specialist winger ATM. Would love Reimis Smith. Nofo's been on top of his game in recent weeks very impressive with his hard running. One of our best every week. Regarding our forward pack, we have too many toilers and not enough aggression. Twal is brilliant, so too is Matterson, etc, but we don't have the right players around them in the pack to complement them. We have guys like Eisenhuth, E.T., and Clark who (in all respect) are just worse versions of the better toilers we already have. We need impact and aggression i.e. a Pangai Jr., David Fifita

I thought at the time watching it when 18-6 down in the 2nd half he was calling the ball to try and take the game by the scruff of the neck. Lead by example cause it seemed at that time none of the others knew what to do.

possibly, the no.13 shouldn't have been getting the ball anyway unless he's taumalolo.

He is not that far behind, believe me.
