Matterson lands Eels leadership role

Eels are so trash. Cant find a good kid to come through their system, stay in their system and lead their system. All they do is recruit ones theyve let go or steal from other clubs.

Its a rubbish way to build a culture.

Yep, I agree. I reckon he was just misheard. It was a "Blessed are the cheese makers" moment

We can’t keep blaming the media for bias. We need to own up to what terrible things we have done before we can move on.

You just don't have to listen to the media at all.

There has never been a more diluted news pool than in modern times, with less direct media control over perception and narrative. SMH and Telecrap are the only two papers really left in the race for NRL news and even they are often second fiddle to other news outlets, including nrl.com themselves.

I just don't concern myself with what they write. It's either factual, in which case it cannot be disputed, or it's an opinion, about which I don't really care. Same reason I don't watch most of the NRL shows on Fox, because it's just knobs giving knobbie opinions.

Parramatta seem to be getting a favourable run in News Limited publications over the past 48 hours or so .
Wests Tigers on the other hand get “smashed up” by their so called journos at any opportunity.
There wouldn’t be a hidden agenda in their bias by any chance ??

The media didn’t treat legends of the club badly. It wasn’t the media who signed nuffies on big bucks. It wasn’t the media who tried to change the culture of a merged club by destroying the culture of 2 clubs with enormously credible history. I could go on but willow will just delete my post. Ok but just a little. It wasn’t the media who destroyed our identity by giving us 5 home grounds. We have to pay overs for players while the chooks turf a recalcitrant. That’s not the media doing that.

Well the supporters didn't do any of that either,
And yet the media rubishes our club and still expects us supporters to sign up and pay for their articles
How crazy does that sound
Who in their right mind would pay a media company money to read constant negative press about a club they love
If they write garbage the that's what they will get paid
GARBAGE

Look, I know he’s a grub, but least he addressed the supporters, as empty of a gesture that is. We didn’t get that that from Cleary, who hightailed it in the middle of the night. Or Moses who walked out mid season. So he at least has that. Congrats Matto. Break a leg.

yeah...compound fracture

Can we add "raging narcissist" to his list of character traits?

Raging something..
Not quite sure you used the right word.

don't care if he apologised - he is a grub for turning his back on the Tigers when he still has a contract :joy:

I can't accept that we are somehow responsible for media bias. We have owned up to the "terrible things" (in your words) the club has done. We supporters are well aware that most of the JV history has been characterised by incompetent management and factionalism. But, contrary to your suggestion, the supporters and the club have moved on and anyone, including the media, can see that things have improved markedly. This fact should be reflected in media reports of the WT.

In my view, what has been truly "terrible" in our game has been the systematic cheating of the salary cap by the Storm, Parra and the Sharks. The implication of corruption of players, coach and senior management at the Storm (some of whom are still at the club); the proven corruption at the Board level at Parra; and the corruption of the Sharks coach and management. Add to that the administration of illegal substances to the Sharks' players and you have some flagrantly unethical behaviour for those clubs to atone for and to live down.

And yet, the media quickly pass over these matters as if they never happened.

It is these things that are truly "terrible", not incompetent management at the WT. So, I disagree, we can blame the media (DT in particular) for ongoing bias against the WT.
