Matthew Johns

Seems like the truth hurts some of the supporters in here, We played SOFT and its a breath of fresh air for a commentator to say what most are thinking instead of the old , gee Robbie you guys are going great but just gewtting pipped on the line , hey thats rugby league and it all evens out at the end of the day .To loser the penalties 9-3 at home shows the discipline is shot to pieces , half the penalties are coming because we are trying to slow the play the ball down and we have no clue of how to do it .
Win the ruck and complete your sets and your in the game .tighten up our defence around the ruck and we are a chance.
Robbie arked up like guy who knew what was said was truthful imo . Lets hope its the medicine for the team to ark up on the footy field .

That was pure gutter from Johns, not the tigers are soft call because that is his opinion but deliberately trying to get a rise from Farah on the Benji and Robbie hate each other non-issue. Unless I see on next weeks show other players getting the same treatment, I'll know it was something personal from Johns. Pure gutter, he probably has a job at the Telegraph lined up.

Here is the point.

I would love to see them call in Jarryd Hayne to the show next week and question him on Parra being soft, rumours of bust-ups between him and Sandow, rumours of Kearney losing the playing group, and his rumour on the Grill Team that Kearney needs to use Tim Mannah to communicate to Hayne.

He'd be a "gutless mug" if he didn't ask all these questions.

You know what, to be completely honest I don't think there was anything wrong with the questions and there was nothing wrong with the answers. They are the questions we, as fans, wanted answers too - and we got them.

I wish Robbie left it at that and didn't have a sook on Twitter. Because now he has come out the other end as the fool. If he had left it, his reputation would have probably been enhanced.

I didn't mind it at all. Everyone on here was spinning the same questions behind their keyboards since the loss, yet MJ asks the questions bluntly an straight to the point and now a lot of people are saying its disrespectful. TBH I found SOME of Robbie's answers pretty silly. Matty - "your defence was soft" - Robbie "but did you see our scramble". Um, well if they weren't breaking the line constantly you wouldn't need to scramble.

The question about him and Benji, he did give a good answer with a blunt and firm message that it was not the case.

Instead of pussy-footing around with the 'softness' issue. Just admit they've been soft and they're gunna fix it. That's all the fans wanna know.

It was a good interview, he stuck it to Rob what the fans wanted to hear and Robbie has now said replied on tv and out of the papers where all the crap gets made up.

I'm with you mate, whenever we lose especially as we have been, most people on here are jumping up and down and saying a lot more worse things then some of the questions Matthew Johns asked.

I find it more respectful that Johns asked him those questions in person then some people on here who make comments when the players can't defend themselves in this environment.

At least Robbie had the chance to stand up for himself when Johns made those comments.

I have no problems with Johns asking these questions because it's what the fans want to know.

Yes i agree with you mate….some people on here need to harden up and stop sooking. Its round 5 now every year we lose 3 in a row at some stage.

As far as Matties comments, he is entitled to an opinion, but opinions are like arseholes, everyone has them.
My beef with Matthew is his arrogance. :smiling_imp:
What sort of moron would continually heap crap on the Kiwi's. Has he forgotten his, and his team mates deeds in New Zealand, that led to him losing his highly paid position at Nine and the footy show.
I am sure this bloke never considers what his wife and kids think everytime he even mentions NZ.
He may think he is entertaining but that ceased with Reg Reagan, who was embarrassing at best.
The 8.30 timeslot is not the place for his humour about " Hitting the Piss ". He needs to grow up. :crazy

What amazes me is Anasta who was obviously going to sign with us..no mention of it…no mention of smith having dramas again with senior players...there's lot more in my opinion at the roosters that he could have picked out..

maybe this will be a blessing and i think Mathew johns who i like would be happy.

I like Matty Johns. I think he is an entertainer and a pretty reasonable commentator amongst a bunch of hacks.

But, I do think that he is a hypocrite based on his exchange with Farah.

He himself came out and said 'I told Robbie what the questions would be and to be tough and strong. Answer honestly and be strong.'

However, when he asked Robbie about 'rumours' that he and Benji didn't get on, then Robbie smarlty asked not once but twice " Who told you that? Where did you hear that?", his response was chicken sh**.

The best that 'strong & honest' Johns could come up with himself was " just the word around in league circles".

Whilst Robbie knew the question was coming, Johns didn't expect that reply and gave the most gutless response one could give and wouldn't/couldn't identify the supposed sources. That is unprofessional and that is an ambush in my opinion.

If you expect to ask the tough and rough questions, you better back it up. Johns prior and since has gone to great lengths to tell all who will listen that he is sick of tippy toeing and standard answers from Dorothy Dix type questions from gutless reporters. He has heralded himself as the shining light with No B.S., No allegiance to any club, and prepared to go in hard.

Well, if his gutless response to Robbie's questions is 'hard', then he is just as soft as our recent play.

I still like Johns. I still think the questions were fair and very well answered by Robbie. I just thinks Johns jumped a bit out of his depth on that one. If you are scared to name your sources when the heat is on, or more to the truth you just ran along with some made up BS rumour, then you better be prepared to look like a knob when youre caught out.

I have never liked the man. Nothing to do with the trouble he had in NZ either. What I dont like about him is he thinks he's funny and an astute critic of the game. The questions he asked Farah were not over the top IMO, it was rather the belligerent manner in which they were asked. He was just trying to make copy. Maybe its just me but I dont like any of the current crop of commentators on the game. Maybe Rabs and the way he goes on with Gould but the rest are ALL imbos.
Just goes to show that if you played the game it does not make you a good critic of it.

The questions were fine, the answers were even better. The only problem I had with the interview was when Matthew Johns asked about us being soft. Robbie answered the question in his own words but obviously Johns didnt get the answer he wanted. He turned to Robbie and said "you guys were soft" to which Robbie replied "thats your opinion and Im sure everybody has an opinion of you"

Well done Robbie, hopefully the boys can fire up on the field in a similar fashion. Cmon boys get behind your skipper.

I gotta feeling some of it is based on publicity for both nrl on fox and or triple m grill team
