Maybe we should sell up to Koukash

And that makes perfect sense

Newcastle is the smart option ,one city team , good junior base ,one home ground

And when you think about it that is the Tigers biggest problem

Nothing about the Tigers is easy ,apart from beating us ,of course

I mean…it's almost funny how you keep spurting the same old tired lines in reply these type of threads. I get it, I read your dribble. I just don't agree so by your logic I don't understand. Ok.

On the plus side, you have produced a new one " a strong balmain = a strong wests tigers"...I like it!
It's total garbage but sounds nice. Get it printed on shirts for the fundraiser, I'll by 2! One for me and one for wests...you know, cause if..sorry, when balmain fold, wests are gone!

No, actually you don't get it.

You don't get the difference between privatisation and selling the JV shares.

You don't get the difference between bringing on an investor to secure future funding, and selling out completely to the Wests Group.

And since that was the basis of the whole conversation, you pretty much don't get anything that has been discussed! But that's ok, keep glossing over it all, keep replying with your mundane responses, and keep living with your head stuck firmly up your backside.

And amazingly for a crusty old magpie, you don't get the difference between fighting for survival and dying. Maybe the Magpies should have died with dignity in 1987, or again in 1999? In both instances they made decisions to stay alive, but in your infantile wisdom you can't afford Balmain that right?

Maybe you should let your argument die with dignity, its a better option than keeping up with the charade that you understand what's being discussed in here.

Too True..Honour the past BUT embrace the FUTURE …that is WESTS TIGERS...

So true, but a lot of people who use this board will not be happy till their is no future to embrace and only fading memories of the past to hang onto. Hate to end up like the bears and Newtown

We already have ended up like the Bears and Newtown SC

People are just too blind to see it

A few weeks back I was all for Koukash. Feeling a lot more positive about the future of the club with the new board and believe we can move forward as long as we are successful on the field. Coach to be announced by the weekend - also according to Vossy - named Griffin, Brown.Taylor Payten and Kidwell as contenders. No mention of Matt Parish - so to all those who had Mayer and Parish doing a deal back in July - if Vossy is right - another conspiracy theory out the window. Whether he is on the money I guess we will know in the coming days.

Koukash rules out Wests Tigers NRL bid

English billionaire Marwan Koukash has ruled out buying Wests Tigers after whittling down his NRL club shopping list to "one or two" remaining options. The one-time Palestinian refugee, now a wealthy businessman and racehorse owner, has publicly stated his intention to buy an NRL club. The owner of English Super League club Salford is expected to fly out to Australia in October to finalise the deal, however he says he still hasn't made up his mind which club to buy into.

But he has ruled out buying the Wests Tigers.

"It's not something that would be of interest to me, no," Koukash told Sky Sports Big Sports Breakfast on Thursday. The 55-year-old said the club's joint venture structure - the source of infighting between the Wests and Balmain factions - had been a turn off.

"That's too complicated for me. I'm going to pass on that," he said.

Asked if he'd spoken to the Newcastle Knights, the outspoken businessman said it was "no secret" he had an interest in the club. "It's definitely one of the clubs that I'm looking at," he said.

Koukash rescued the cash-strapped Salford Red Devils in 2013 and helped the one-time wooden spooners move up to 10th spot this season.

Owner of Melbourne Cup runner Mount Athos, he spent a large part of his childhood in a Jordanian refugee camp before moving to Kuwait and England. In the next 18 months, Koukash said he had a "big interest" in making the move to Australia. "Some people call me crazy, but I love the sport (rugby league)," he said.

"I can't see myself not being involved … in the best rugby competition in the world

How many re births have the Titans have and how many sporting franchises have fallen over at the Gold Coast

Not real appealing

Completely understand where he is coming from.

Wests Tigers should be pursuing opportunities like this and work out a deal to hand over that is uncomplicated. Would have to involve buying the club outright though.

Blokes like Koukash don't come along every day…

True - but inject some money and surely it would be an attractive option for players and their families. Not really sure about the fan base - but success attracts new fans Everything is in place there - all they need is the cash. I am sure the NRL would make it easy for him to take control too, cause it would save them plenty of money which they could direct to other areas .

The fans just don't show up to watch Gold Coast teams play

I reckon the crowd mix at the Titans v Tigers game would of been 65-35

For an interstate game , that's just ridiculous

The only time they draw is rivalry games Cowboys ,Broncos

Funny market the Gold Coast

If Koukash is smart, he'll avoid this place like the plague. Too much political red tape, and factions to overcome. Better off for him to go to a club that isn't divided.

Geo he is very smart. And he's not interested in our club. Too much of a hassle for him. Can't blame him. Would've loved it if Koukash came to our clubs rescue :frowning:

And then you look at the population bases of the three clubs who are in the smaller one team towns

Gold Coast 535000
Newcastle 310000
Townsville 200000

And the Titans don't draw even half as many as the Cowboys and the Knights most weeks

I think we need some clarification here, our club does not need "rescuing". Wests Tigers are doing just fine and going through a planned restructure that will make us a force in the NRL for years to come.

Sometimes I feel like we are stuck on Gilligans Island as Tigers supporters

Rescue boats cruise on by and somehow we manage to find away to miss our rescue

Gilligan and the Skipper have a lot to answer for

Maybe a flashy billionaire is exactly what they need to attract the fans interest. Can you imagine the intrigue and fuss when he arrives in town? He alone would surely generate a new level of interest. After the Tinkler debacle cant see Newcastle fans being too enthusiastic about billionaire investors. All speculation - but it will be interesting to see where/ and if ends up buying any of the clubs.

He can only base his decision what he has seen , not what could be

That's why he is rich , they don't make mistakes on possible's or maybe's

I think private ownership isn't the way to go for Tigers. We don't need more dramas and that is what private ownership seems to lead to in recent times.

Having said that, if I had a few million dollars I would buy the Tigers.
