MAYWEATHER VS PACQUIAO

Floyd said in one of his post-fight interviews that he wanted an apology from certain journo's who had a go at him ’You guys don't know me,I'm a man who loves his family…...' Yet he did jail time for belting his missus in front of his kids. Good fighter, butthole human being. Pity Manny didn't give him a hiding.

But that's boxing

The two best boxers on the planet have styles that don't suit fighting one another

You end up with an ugly fight

Premature Show off Time,

Im gonna be hanging with Pacquiao latter in the year over in NZ (Sept/Oct).

He is staying with my mate on his ranch out the back of Christchurch and a few of of us from syd are gonna stay with them for a week under the same roof.

Maybe who ever wins the tipping comp can forward the jersey to Spartan to give to the Pac Man ?

Think of the third party agreement possibilities ?

We could become anything with his backing

I'd like to see Manny get given the fight because he was the aggressor. Scoring like that makes for a terrible spectator event. I don't think Floyd would be a star like he is in MMA because that style isn't rewarded.

LOL what are you talking about?
Fighting isn't just about hitting, its about making the other guy miss or at least nullifying his impact. Floyd taught Manny how to box yesterday.

Pac man was always going to struggle due to his lack of movement and reach disadvantage

Both are true champions

Disagree, the reach had nothing to do with it. Mayweather is a boxer with impeccable defence. Manny is a brawler. At any moment Manny could have snuck one through and he did but Floyd readjusted and stopped Manny putting together any combos which would have hurt him.

This fight was always going to come down to a simple equation…was Manny's attack > Floyd's defence? I told everyone who'd listen that it was not and wasn't surprised with the result.

And thats why boxing is dead and MMA is flourishing.

U cant hide in the octagon!

Yes I agree.
Its just funny hearing peoples reactions. The bloodlust introduced to mainstream viewers through UFC has warped peoples reality as to how a fight happens in real life.

So what your saying is that Manny would still lose if he had the same reach as Mayweather ??

Your off your head Stryker

Yes I am reach had nothing to do with it. Manny got close enough a lot of times. He couldn't put any combos together because Floyd either changed his defence or counter attacked.

Street fight, Manny probably wins. Boxing bout Manny is ineffective due to rules.

Floyd understands defence. He is a brilliant practitioner. He covers up and sets traps and 48 professional fighters in a row have stumbled into them. Manny charges forward throwing punches. That beats most but it doesn't worry someone who can defend themselves. Personally I thought Floyd won that fight 10-2 which would surprise a lot as Manny looked impressive, but he was ineffectual whilst Floyd looked like he didn't do much but still won every statistic.

But Manny's footwork could potentially counter Floyd's defense, but Flloyd was too good. Like I said in the second comment in this thread with most of Mayweather's fights, for me it was quite boring. I've fallen asleep before.

If they have the same reach , Mayweather has to come forward

That makes a huge difference , he can't fight off his defence and the counter like he did yesterday

I thought you knew a bit about boxing

Manny got inside him plenty of times Happy. Reach was not a major, if at all contributing, factor for the loss.

I'm not saying that CB , I'm saying that he has to get inside to start with and against a true boxer that's half the battle lost right there

If he is able to mix it up and fight from distance as well Mayweather must come forward or Manny beats him because of quantity of punches in the end

I'm sorry but a fighter will always struggle to counter that much reach unless he is at heavyweight level and commands massive knockout power

His argument does hold some weight Stryker.I agree as per the rules of judges in boxing Floyd was a
clear winner but more weighting in scoring should be given to the guy taking the fight up as opposed to just a jab and dance which is Mayweathers go(albeit absolutely brilliant at it).It is true to say that in MMA you cant hide in the octagon and it makes for much better viewing.

Agree, Manny's fought plenty of guys who were much bigger than him and with a longer reach.

I think boxing will decline a little from now on. But not a lot.

That is why IMO Tyson and Kostya Tszyu are the 2 best boxers of our generation in their prime. The near perfect combination of brilliant defence and devastating punching power and aggression to bring the pain to their opponent. They were exhilarating to watch….those were the days! Those 2 blokes would be just as effective blueing in the street as inside the ring.

Sorry mate I didn't realize you weren't familiar with Mayweather's fighting style. Go watch some of his fights then come back in here and discuss.
