This is getting interesting.

Who is this nuffy Winemaker? NRL.com reported that Mbye was planned to be dropped last round, not that he's dropped this round vs Raiders.

Momirovski and Jennings got dropped.

Hahaha not that I'm against Madge setting and policing high expectations, but he has the freedom to do it now with someone else's roster.

Is Madge going to be as strict and cut-throat (ballsy you say) with his own roster? You can't go chopping and dropping people you hand-picked, without criticism.

He did with Jennings.

Alright so then why did that fool Madge bring Jennings across to Tigers only to drop him by Round 13? First signing Madge is responsible for and he botched it, it does not bode well for any new signings he makes... I'm sick of Tigers signing the also-rans and plodders!

So easy to slip into criticism mode. Like I said, it's easy to be ruthless when it's someone else's roster that you've taken on, let's see if he keeps it up with his own hand-picked players. And if he is ruthless and drops his own signings without remorse, if he has to do that, then it brings into question his talent identification skill.

And @rustycage - too simplistic mate. You don't start winning regularly just because the players don't feel safe in their positions. There's clearly a balance between accountability and stability. If you need evidence just look at the top performing sides every year and how FEW players they use - they aren't chopping and changing players because of temporary form dips. No, the good coaches get the best out of their players without the guillotine hanging over their heads.

Most of these players have had plenty of opportunity to prove themselves. I'm not one for chopping and changing (especially since this is all the club has seemed to do for the past 5 years or so!) but I just think Madge has seen enough now. These guys were running around last season, they've had a preseason here with Madge and he's given them a good couple of months of game time to begin this season. Now a combination of that insight and some opportunities presenting themselves has given him a chance to set things up how he sees fit, and to be honest he's looking a better judge than Cleary at this point..

In Mbye's case I think he's giving him every opportunity, and even the current situation is a little blown out of proportion - he hasn't been completely dropped! Only a bench demotion. It's more of a wake up call than anything unless you're believing Triple M's rumour, which may be just joining non-existent dots.

Looks like those of us calling Mbye out for poor performance weren't so far off the mark after all. It would seem the coach wasn't happy either.

100% mate.

Once again those calling it for what it is were howled down on the forum. Turns out we werent far off the mark.

i am resigned to the fact that half our fans are happy to finish 9th.

Can't speak for others but he was coming off a good start to his spell with us last year, so I gave him benefit of the doubt to turn it around. I did acknowledge he was playing poorly though and should not be guaranteed a spot based on that.

I'd certainly have Thompson over him at the moment, even preceding Thompson's efforts against Souths because Thompson has been solid in every match for us he has played, sans that Leichhardt match against the Titans last year. He is consistent and we know what we are going to get.

If Mbye is indeed on the trade table, goes to show Madge isn't mucking around. Feel a bit for Moses but the coach needs to mould the side his way - after all, if the team doesn't perform, the coach gets flicked as well.

I can't see this being a quick fix though with the long, expensive contracts in place and little interest for those players from other teams.

@jirskyr I know its kind of simplistic, but the way i see things, is that the top performing teams have top performing players. Our guys need to play to their ability and at times I don't believe they are. If they don't on a consistent basis, there has to be consequences. We need to be seen as a high achieving club. A coach, whether or not he's inherited or created a team has to make big decisions. I guess the question is, for how long do you keep the faith? I actually think Mbye can be a very good fullback with more time. Probably an even better utility player. He shouldn't have been given the Captains job though as it turns out. I think Madge may regret that one. As a coach though, he gains more credibility for being willing to wield the axe on his Captain rather than put up with below par performances in my opinion.

Does his value go up because he played SOO

You will probably find rep footy ticked off a clause in his contract as well

@happy_tiger Mbye's stock should have grown. Maybe a swap with NQ on the cards given Moses has family up there. Sounds like he is pretty much our only bargaining chip at this point.

Can't say a direct swap for DWZ will make us a markedly better team though....

6 months ago I would of been hollering for Isakko but he is horrid under the high ball

We're all aware at Mbye comes from Noosa yeah? He'd be wanting to wind up at Brissy or GC rather than Townsville.

Concord is closer to Noosa than Townsville lmao...

Been a long time since I've been to QLD for anything other than a holiday Hap.

Yuck I would not trade Mbye for dallin....in form Mbye is far superior to in form dallin....I’d be switching Mbye to the halves next year with benji gone...he played his best football there between 2015-16...some people need to go re watch the dogs highlights for, that time period...kid was insane

So now it seems Mbye has been shifted into the centres.
Thomo to 1

Don't really like this move, I like Thomo at 1 just don't like the Mbye move.
Obviously Madge is having troubles filling that centre position so he's experimenting.

Mbye is a handy defender ...but defending in the centres is a lot different than defending in the middle of the ruck

The match up in attack could be interesting if Cotric is out ....which ever way they go they have a winger marking Mbye ......that's a win for us maybe

If DWZ is headed our way I am curious to know where Mbye fits in the fold if he is not headed elsewhere.
