Just wondering how this actually played out?

He had an agreed contract with us, (not signed) but the club must have felt comfortable that they didn’t need to rush (in hindsight this was an error), but his manager must have kept looking around even after it was supposedly agreed on?

Grubby move by him IMO.

Don’t begrudge the kid getting more money though, but a handshake is a handshake.

There’s a lot of people to blame for this but McIntyre isn’t one of them.

How do we know? I really like McIntyre as a player and think highly of him as a player. It seems likely that we just didn't prioritise and pursue his signature as we should have, so our fault, but how do we know for sure whether we had an agreement with him and after that he didn't look elsewhere?

If someone offered me a job but took 2 weeks to get me the contract, I’m going elsewhere if something better comes along. He owes us nothing, and deserved better.

I'm done with this club seriously... Missing out on Addo-Carr, only to then lose McIntyre and Aloiai. I've always been one to back the board and stay positive but this is outrageous.

If that's how it went down, yeah totally.

Really worrying, amateurish. I hope our administration can have a look at these things, identify what went wrong and prevent it from happening in the future. Otherwise...

He does owe us nothing, good luck to him, but his manager didn’t seemingly accept the clubs acceptance, I assume?

We offered him a one year contract on minimum wage, and after a couple of months he eventually agreed to it. We then took 2 weeks to follow up and put a contract in front of him and a pen in his hand and so rightfully his agent remained open to other offers considering we showed about as little interest in re-signing him as is possible. Another club shows interest, offers him a longer deal on more money and gives him a pen and a contract and it's done in a day. That's how every other club operates. The incompetence of our management is extreme.
And some fans wonder why we never make the finals. The culture of mediocrity is infested throughout the organisation. I've been in his favour previously but i do think it's time for a new CEO to lead the club into a brighter future. Pascoe has done well off field, but on field he's delivered very poor results. Someone who brings new energy, experience in managing NRL clubs and passion for making us better will help us finally achieve our aspirations. We've been going round in circles the entire time Pascoe has been here.

Well if you were there, why didn’t you remind Justin to take a pen, better still, offer your own.

Unless you have facts mate, then it is just a story in your head.

For sure... I'll always be here for the club but its getting harder and harder as the years go by seeing the club making the same silly mistakes

Look he’s not a huge loss, solid player the big question is will his money (which wasn’t much) be used well and will we replace him

We need another second rower at the club otherwise one injury and it’s literally Chee Kam on the bench and that’s not good enough

It's not great to lose him but he is definitely not a player that you get into a bidding war over. It is impossible to be critical when you do not know how much the Titans are paying him.

I dare say they’re paying a decent amount more than we are. Would he surprised if he even plays if their whole team if injury free there.

What’s important now is who we sign in his spot. We need a second rower pretty bad

The hard part is there is not a lot around, losing him hurts, but paying him $250k+ would hurt us more

I believe I read on here somewhere that he was on about 150k and we were baulking at increasing that at all.

Ridiculous if true and no wonder he packed his bags (good for him, bad for us).

I would be reluctant to go to $200k for him so it would depend on what the Titans offered, he really only has 3 months of quality football under his belt.

And yet we are paying $300/350 for an unproven front rower from parramatta go figure

You'll need to show me where McIntyre is a proven consistent year-

I didn’t say anything about him being proven player or that he is worth more than $200ki was asking about the boy from parramatta. He’s not proven do you believe he’s worth that much just asking how do you line them up

Well that boy who is 200k more , is 195cm , 120 kg , absolutely tore up the juniors , was expected to be a mainstay in first grade this year , and is actually 2 years younger than McIntyre . And every footy judge out there good and bad , said he was a sure fire thing if ever there was one . So I’ll run with that .

Let’s just just hope that you and all the footy judges are right
For the tigers sake. Because right now hope is all a lot of supporters have at the moment

Mentioned on Twitter it's a different Sam McIntyre that signed with Titans. I know Pom has confirmed it so chances are it's wrong.

I'm hoping this is all wrong and management aren't this stupid. Time will tell.

So all those up in arms about our dealings with a fringe first grader - Penrith think a handshake from Cleary should keep a possible superstar committed to the club. Some perspective needed

"It’s been previously reported that Crichton shook hands with Cleary and vowed to honour a three-year deal worth $1.5 million four months ago. The Panthers have stuck strong on this and expect Crichton to do the same.

Why it wasn’t signed off on then and there is because the club was happy to hold off until he parted ways with his former manager, Mark Stewart.

Crichton has now secured the services of player agent Sam Ayoub, meaning the deal should be good to go. However Channel 9’s Danny Weidler reported on Sunday that “Crichton’s camp” are actually “bemused to say the least” about the supposed handshake deal."

Yep. This is the problem with a lot of comments. You need facts and often times it is just stories that people are telling themselves.

As usual I don't bite until I hear it officially from the club - I even take @THE_POM as not official (but usually accurate)

Interesting little nugget regarding Big Mac.
He signed with a new management firm "Insight Sports" late last month.

Wonder if this was before or after da club offered the contract...

IMHO, there are some people on this forum, that for some reason, only come with the bad news/negative comments on the WT.
And all because some 'journalist' or another blog say so!

Very good question.

Either way, we should have been all over the situation if we wanted to keep him. I only hope that we were ambivalent about him, and didn't mind losing him if he got a better offer.

Well it’s been made offical by the Titans.

Alright thank you. No doubt now about which Sam McIntyre it is.

Now WT, we don't need a statement from you saying we wanted to let Sam go. I know we're copping it from the press now more than ever, just go about your business signing and re-signing players building the squad. A lot of the planning obviously happens behind closed doors, and we as fans obviously don't see that so it keeps us in the dark, but it's as it has to be.

I would prefer to retain Aloiai, but if he insists on wanting higher money than we think he's worth to us, let him walk. But he will NEED to be replaced by a quality prop if we lose him. Fingers crossed we have some options lined up.
