McIntyre

He was clearly a stand out player at the backend of the year, the signs of that should’ve been evident to the coaching staff a year ago and contract negotiations should’ve started then.

"Clearly a standout" is an opinion.

You are proposing that the coaching staff, of which there are several senior coaches, plus the conditioning staff, plus the recruitment staff plus the roster committee were not aware of McIntyre's ability and the way he performed during 2020.

They saw him at training every day, watched him play and analysed his video after a match, but you, the fan, have seen something that the staff missed.

You reckon Madge was not aware of how McIntyre was playing, considering he gave Macca the debut and selected him each week, but his performance wasn't evident to the coach?

You don't know it but you're agreeing with me.

They must have seen something to give him a debut, they must have thought that this kid will become a first grader. Why then was someone given a first grade debut without a contract or atleast in close negotiations with an extension. You are either 100% in or you're not. All we did was gave him a taste of first grade then gave him the opportunity to get a bigger contract. We are serious amateurs.

Also, why does it keep happening to us is the question. Our roster turnover is insane. Noffa and Brooks are probably the only ones left that were here 2-3 years ago. People want to jump ship and instead of trying to keep them onboard, we let them jump, get more people onboard and repeat. Doesn't happen to anyone more than us.

You may have noticed that we havent made the 8 in 10 years. Roster turnover isnt a bad thing when we continually underperform.

Forget the 8, you don't win comps with constant roster turnover. You need to invest a lot more than just throwing them in first grade then crying foul when they receive a better offer. Player management is shocking. Have been saying this for months, give them something that makes them want to stay and be at 100%.

They saw in him the capacity to warrant a debut after injuries opened up a spot.

You are supposing to tell me that 100% of players who debut must have a contract waiting for them on the other side? Due diligence says you might want to wait and see how he actually handles FG before you jump to signing him on further.

We cannot forget that McIntyre has been around Tigers for a few years - they are well aware of him and his ability. There's every chance they weren't sure how he'd handle it, and even after watching him play, not sure he was a long-term option.

Re roster turnover: no worse than any other club.

I dont normally cut into a conversation that 2 people are having, but tig-prmz you seem to forget one thing during your spiel about the club and how it handles things,in particular Sam McIntyre...he was given a debut by Madge,he did improve drastically from his reserve grade form this year because there was no CC to be played they all worked with Madge...

Sam has also had HIH and concussion issues maybe these have come in to calculation when extending a contract as well..

Also many forumers have been severe on Mbye,Packer and Reynolds..Madge works with these guys and knows them far,far better than we do and they must still offer something otherwise Madge wouldnt speak so highly of them...Packer had a severe injury that took months and surgery to get over, but bag the crap out of him for that...JRey had injuries but won mom awards in CC and took it on the chin, when he did play FG he did his best and Borooks played better with him alongside..Mbye is our captain who Madge has confidence in,otherwise he wouldnt be the captain...

Packer,Mbye and Reynolds have had long NRL careers and were successful...they came to us and injuries hit and we condemn them to hell..its not always their fault but lets bag the crap out of them when most on here couldnt even dream of doing what they have done at this level..

I trust Madge to rectify the performances on the field,Pascoe and co have to do their job so as this club starts to play finals football and becomes a force within the NRL ...otherwise we may all walk away....

Some people still don't get it. It's not about this one player. It's about the recruitment policy and structures we have in place. He was clearly a stand out player at the backend of the year, the signs of that should've been evident to the coaching staff a year ago and contract negotiations should've started then. This is another player that has played 20 odd games, made a lot of mistakes, learnt from it and now another team is going to reap benefits of it.

Yeh if he doesn't kick on at the Titans then we will forget about it but based on everything we know so far, it's a stuff up. We shouldn't have let him go.

No wonder no one takes the Tigers seriously. We will continually be used as a stepping stone. And again, it's not about one player- it's our decisions or lackthereof last 5 years.

No, we are a stepping stone for as long as a bench player thinks he can squeeze the club for more than they are valued to be worth.

The club offered him a reasonable contract and he wanted more - very Charles Dickens.

1 V 2 years and a touch more money... I know which contract I'd sign ?‍♂️

Pfffft due diligence.

Mate we let go of Clive Churchill and Dally M medalists. Plural. You must be going to lunch with board members or something.

If they all hate Madge, he's doing something right. He's not accepting their best and the subsequent results as enough.

Just reading how west didn’t even offer McIntyre a contract and he wanted to stay he spoke to madge but madge couldn’t do anything about it

Mate are you seriously that upset about losing McIntyre ? It really comes down to him and seyfarth , but I have to say fully fit he isn’t in our top 17 . I’m sorry to let him go , but seriously the way some of you are carrying on , it’s as if we let go of Bradley Clyde 2.0 year

It's about losing potential top grade players. It's bigger than one person.

So lets analyze this Madge can make a decision on a Club Legend (Benji) although think it was the correct call, but can't make a decision on a development player???

Madge basically swapped him for Roberts lets see how that call works out????

All smoke and mirrors and the rumors still leak out..
