There is something strange with our system, somehow we manage to keep players that have minimum capabilities (e.g. Jordan, Lulia, Buchanan etc.) and they stay with us like forever, while we cannot keep better players e.g. Koroibete, Martin, Papenhousen, N Brown, and now Aloiai and McIntyre.
There was a period with Sheens when the system worked much better, and we continuously acquired better players.

Lets face it. A decent club with management that actually knows how to run a football club would've found a way of getting rid of Reynolds, Packer and Mbye a long time ago. But no, we are held hostage by these contracts and will probably sign up similar contracts again in the meantime. Hopefully someone in this club that has the power to make this club change, actually does it. I've just about had enough.

No other club would have got rid of those contracts, Reynold and Packer in particular. The real issue is other clubs, outside of the Bulldogs and Dragons, wouldn't have put themselves in the position to have to get rid of those contracts in the first place.

That’s not true . They’ve been trying to offload Gagai for 2 years and he’s on similar coin . Who’ve they offloaded recently that wasn’t a guy with some serious mental health issues ?

It’s hard the first few years BUT alas once you get to your 3rd wooden spoon it’s then smooth sailing, it’s fun , you become the laughing stock from family and friends. It’s great party conversation once everyone at a party finds out you follow the Wests Tigers , your then the butt to all jokes that night.
Never will you have to stress and suffer anxiety that people experience during finals series wondering if your team gets knocked out!

A lot of hullabaloo in a Sam McIntyre thread. Didn't want to lose him but he's played 12 games total and been concussed a few times. I didn't really want to lose Eisenhuth either as that type of bench / backup capable forward.

On the other hand everyone was totally happy to write McIntyre off before he debuted and he's been at the club a few years now.

I'll reserve judgement to see what the club does with the roster during the pre-season, given there seems to be so much late movement these days.

I understand what you're saying - but for the money, which I assume is not much from us or the Titans, there's a lot of value.

You mention Eiso, I didn't want him gone either, this loss makes it even worse that we didn't keep him. I'd assume if we had known Mac would leave, we would have never let Eiso go.

It's not great to lose him but he is definitely not a player that you get into a bidding war over. It is impossible to be critical when you do not know how much the Titans are paying him.

I dare say they’re paying a decent amount more than we are. Would he surprised if he even plays if their whole team if injury free there.

What’s important now is who we sign in his spot. We need a second rower pretty bad

The hard part is there is not a lot around, losing him hurts, but paying him $250k+ would hurt us more

I would be reluctant to go to $200k for him so it would depend on what the Titans offered, he really only has 3 months of quality football under his belt.

You might also assume that if McIntyre was very highly rated then they never would have let the contract lie idle. Ergo, he wasn't a priority. I don't know, I'm not going to assume.

What I do know is that even minimum wage is a significant amount of money and it might make the difference to a recruitment decision in the near future. I like Sam Mc and Huth a lot but reality is currently they are very replaceable. Josh Aloiai too.

What I really don't get is that we haven't made the finals forever but people are complaining bitterly about the middle-of-road players we are letting go. I don't get it. Tedesco yes, worst loss imaginable. Paps a bad loss, though understandable how it happened. Sam McIntyre...

Mate he was not a standout in the lower grades and has played 3 months of consistent good footy. That's all he has shown.

I didn’t say anything about him being proven player or that he is worth more than $200ki was asking about the boy from parramatta. He’s not proven do you believe he’s worth that much just asking how do you line them up

Too be honest I haven't seen enough of the guy from Parra to make that call. I do know that I have seen a fair bit of Sam and he hasn't shown me enough to make me go to $200k. But it seems we shouldn't have had to go to $200k
