Mckinnon has to start at FB next game

He needs to be playing at first grade level, he couldnt crack that at the warriors with his most recent form, a club who by rights are not anywhere near us….a change may be all he needs, or a stint in reggies, but our team is in form atm and to place a player who is NOT in form in the mix, a new player to the club at that could be the worst thing we do right now.
Its only halfway thru the season, no need to rush him in just yet
Patience is a rare thing here

its not his form thats keeping him out of the team ink, its clearys love affair with hohaia thats keeping him out of the team

he would have to…
chuck beau onto the wing and we'll see hw it goes ..
hope he can score a few tries on his debut to at a sold out leichardt oval against the raiders

insaneink,

best analogy i could come up with is its like the Australian test cricket team having shane warne and stewart McGill at the same time. McGill would slot into any international bowling line-up in the world, except couldn't get a sustained run on ours because we also had the one guy better than him. Think of Mckinnon as the Warriors' version of McGill.

The ONE position the warriors have absolutely nailed down is fullback with Hohaia. Unfortunately wade is a bit "wrong place at the wong time" after coming back from injury.

We aren't picking up a second string fullback by any stretch of the imagination. We are picking up a quality fullback who can fill our weak(ish) fullback position perfectly fine.

Hohaia is a utility

McKinnon a specialty fullback

The warriors are garbage

McKinnon cannot get a run in their top team.

The maths are simple

Its just not cricket

I watched the warriors today they have a lot of very average players when the heats on they just fall apart with average footy .. to be honest how Hohaia is judged before Mckinnon to be there fullback ??? but have been watching McKinnon play this season and he has been average at best with a few shockers but believe he still has a lot to offer though..

I follow the warriors through a fanatic mate. He couldn't believe that Mckinnon wasn't starting with the Warriors, even if his form had slipped, which he put down to the recent injury. Hohia is a real star although he is not a great 5/8, hence McKinnon missing out. Perhaps they should have played him on the wing opposite the beast but even that seems a waste. McKinnon would be a walk up start at plenty of clubs, and bar Hohia would have been the same at the Warriors. Give him a run in 1st grade and then judge.

If he wasn't fit enough to start against the Dogs on Friday night then I'm afraid in my opinion that Wade deserves a run or two with either Balmain or the Magpies, it was my understanding that the only reason he didn't get a game against his former club two weeks previously was because of an 'Gentlemans' agreement.
If we signed Wade as a genuine NRL player he would have been there Friday Night, has he just been signed as an insurance policy if things don't work out, we still have to make the SEMI's you know!.

He's dealing with a hammy injury

 Lets not let that get in the way Innk…

Fitzy and McKinnion in the hammy rehab ward together....ironic...

Royce Simmons was quoted as saying he would be available for selection from round 15.

I think he will slot straight in, and thats what will do his confidence the world of good.

He would be frothing at the mouth to have the opportunity to link up with short balls from farah, marshall and lui.

He adds another element to our attack, and our last line of defense will be a lot better off for having him there.

McKinnon in for mine.

Its pretty simple, bar Gallant we have been playing make shift full backs since Hogo walked out of Concord. We now have one so its a no brainer. If fit he has to be given the no1 jumper, no use sending him out to play in reggies. Put him in good company and see if he can deliver.

My guess Sheens will show loyalty to the likes of Fitzy and Ryan and run with much the same team maybe the only changes being Galloway and Aysford being back in the mix

I see your logic but think Meaney has earnt a real chance with lower grade form.

However as Sheens chased McKinnon before he went to the Warriors I think he will start

McKinnon will start if fit.

That was the selling point to get him over here; first grade starts. McKinnon to fullback and Beau/Fitzy to fight out the #5 (that's if upon Ayshford's return Sheens doesn't choose to slide Daniela out to the wing…)

Thats a bit harsh on Hodgo…If my memory serves me right he was told his contract was not going to be extended...he didn't walk out as you put it.

I agree Meaney should be given a crack, but in reality that is not going to happen. The club has shown its hand when they signed Mckinnon. Shame really because Meaney could have solved a few problems for us for a budget price. Anyway now they have Mckinnon I think they should throw him in at the deep end and give him a month to prove himself.

I wasnt pointing the bone at Hogo, poor choice of words "walking out". We all know Hogo would have loved to have stayed but the club wanted to go in another direction.Just another casualty of the salary cap Iam afraid that was introduced to protect clubs like ours

Meaney still should get the first crack at the run on Fullback. He is match fit , playing fantastic footy , and deserves to have his chance before hammy McKinnon or Fitzy….I tell you one thing for sure, he wouldn't have missed that penalty goal that Benji missed against the Bulldogs.
He is playing this Saturday and will score his regulation 2 tries & convert at 90% ....McKinnon should at least play 1 or 2 games in our reserve grade and work for that fullback spot.
