The Tigers have received a timely boost ahead of today's 'Fibros v Silvertails' encounter in Gosford after mid-season signing from the Warriors, Wade McKinnon, signed a two-year extension yesterday.

"Wade has impressed all of us with his ability and commitment off the field," Tigers boss Stephen Humphreys said. "He's a specialist fullback who has really added a lot to our team."

The news was tempered by the loss of long-time assistant Royce Simmons - described by Sheens "as good as anyone I've worked with or against" - to St Helens.

A 2 year extension as well, 1 year short of what was first speculated. Their will be alot of happy people around about that. Personally, I didn't mind whether he signed for 2 years or 3 years. Either way, this is all GOOD news.

I wanted McKinnon to come half way through the season but that's because I didn't think Meany or Mullaney were ready for first grade this year. If they were going to extend his contract it should have only been for one year because he is getting old and we have two good young fullbacks coming through with a lot of potential. I just hope he plays consistent because I would hate for the Tigers to extend his contract and have to lose Meany or Mullaney to another club in the process.

Really happy with this. Wade is easily the 2nd best fullback this club has ever had (and he's only played about 4 or 5 games - that's saying something!)

Hopefully he gets some speed back and gets his name thrown around in the rep circles again next year.

Great news… and another bonus is it forces sheens to use moltzen at half when fit. Did Matt Seers even play fullback for us? I remember Pearce kept using him as a centre and off the bench, which always puzzled me.

I'm not. One of my best mates went to St Gregs with Seers and to be politically correct for you CT, Seers was about as far away from being an academic as I am from winning a Nobel Prize.
