I wanted McKinnon to come half way through the season but that's because I didn't think Meany or Mullaney were ready for first grade this year. If they were going to extend his contract it should have only been for one year because he is getting old and we have two good young fullbacks coming through with a lot of potential. I just hope he plays consistent because I would hate for the Tigers to extend his contract and have to lose Meany or Mullaney to another club in the process.

I agree it should have been 1 year..it gives the impression Sheens doesn't rate Meany or Mullaney.

We also have another two great young fullbacks in James Tedesco and David Nafoaluma coming through….both recently made the Australian Schoolboys team. Maybe the master plan is for one of them to step up and be our future fullback after McKinnon.

… and to think McKinnon wasn't even first or second choice when Sheens went looking for another fullback mid way through the season.

Sheens...

Sheens...

How do you mean? He is our first choice isn't he?

I'm not. One of my best mates went to St Gregs with Seers and to be politically correct for you CT, Seers was about as far away from being an academic as I am from winning a Nobel Prize.

Isn't that the same as most footballers?

I'm surprised we signed McKinnon for another 2 years. I think he is ok but not as good as he used to be and he isn't getting any younger. I always thought 2011 would be the year Mullaney would get his chance in first grade. Now that we have signed McKinnon for another 2 years we might have less chance keeping Mullaney. Atleast this means we wont see Moltzen at fullback. I much prefer Moltzen at halfback. If Lui goes well for the rest of the year we might see Sheens use Moltzen as the utility on the interchange or in the centres if Ayshford doesn't improve a bit.

So what happens when we put pen to paper ….. The bloke starts missing games because he is INJURED ...
If we hadnt signed him up he would have still played all games.... anyone agreee?

Tends to be an unlucky trend these days mate player signs a contract and suprisingly gets injured….
But look regardless if he had signed a contract or not he is still injured and should be back this week so no worries🙂

Yes a very unlucky trend amongst fringe 1st Graders…however not all get injured after signing a contract..most just lose form.

However, McKinnon is genuinely injured...but that's OK at least he isn't on the field giving away penalty's by going off at the referees !

Well he is named in the team again this week and if he doesnt play i will crack it .. especially after the performance last week against the Souths from the make do full back in Ryan..

why the heck did we sign him for another 2 years??? i hope he is only on the min. wage!
